I just noticed you don't have Star De Azlan with Curb anymore, is there any confirmation that she's parted ways with the label (Usually this would be a bad thing but I hope she left so she can do things on her own finally.) Also it's not a confirmation but Wade Bowen is no longer listed on Sony's website... :(

With Curb it's really impossible to know. Their website pretty much has more than 100 artists listed but Matt confirmed that Curb only listed certain artists as 'active artists' at CRS and so those are the only ones I have listed on the Curb roster on page 1 of this thread. Steve Holy and Heidi Newfield weren't listed as Active on either Curb or Sidewalk so I'm not sure what that means (I've left them on the roster, for now). Basically Curb has a handful of new artists (American Young, Tim Dugger, Ashley Gearing, Andy Gibson, Rachel Holder, Mo Pitney, & Sweetwater Rain) that they're working with, and then a small batch of veteran artists (Rodney Atkins, Lee Brice, Wynonna, and LeAnn Rimes). Sidewalk still has Clay Walker and they're launching Morgan Frazier and Dylan Scott. They also have Martin Ramey and Tyler Dean.

He actually does quite well for a guy with no Top 40 hits. He makes more $$ touring than even acts with big labels and Top 10 hits do. pretty amazing.

My curiosity has been peaked, because I notice that Martina McBride has indeed been removed from the Republic Nashville roster in this thread. Does anyone have proof that this split has indeed occurred? I have been wondering about this for weeks now, and nothing seems to be surfacing, yet people seem to be increasingly sure that it has happened...
The fact that neither Martina nor her label have offered clarity on this rumor confuses me. She is one of the artists who is extremely informative to her fans through Twitter, blogging, etc. Nothing she has said in the last several months has indicated any sort of worry whatsoever. In fact, it is confirmed that she is working on new music! Why would she be recording a new album at the same time as splitting with the label? I mean, I could easily see her being an artist who goes on to release independent albums once the radio and label days are done, but I don't see it being plausible for her to have all the resources pooled together to make that happen within a couple weeks of being dropped by her label...
Plus, I cannot imagine that veteran artists would typically undergo label changes "secretly". Unestablished acts disappear from labels all the time without warning, but don't established artists usually have some kind of formal announcement when label changes occur? I would think that if a new deal had been signed with a different label, someone would have made some kind of announcement about their new addition...
I am just confused about it all. The fact that she is recording and working on new music, without displaying any sort of worry whatsoever, does not add up to someone who is going through a label split... I guess it is possible that her initial contract was for one album with more negotiations later, but I have no idea if that actually happens or what the details are, etc. Anyone got any thoughts about this??

Martina is no longer with Republic. It was confirmed at CRS last month. Often times, the artists and labels don't make any big announcements when they agree to part ways. You are right that if someone like Martina signed with a new label, there would definitely be a big announcement. She is working on new music but the album won't come out through Republic, and she has not signed with another label.
Roughstock editor Matt (our very own rsmatto) was able to confirm Martina's departure from Republic at CRS last month.

I think rsmatto said that her deal w/ Republic was just to set up to allow Martina to release the one album (Eleven) and he implied that she could still return to the label to release her next album, but it seemed like she wasn't being locked into a contract or something like that perhaps.

Yes, this means they have mutual options for the next record but she's technically not on their roster until the record comes out. BMLG does this with many of their artists, including some of their bigger named artists.

I was only familiar with "You're All That Matters to Me," but I liked that song. Oh well, best of luck to the members of Miss Willie Brown. What. The. F**k. :o What happened? She just got her first charted single after two albums and no real success to show for it. I can't see why they'd part ways now. ??? Ugh, I am so disappointed. :'(

Jessica Harp decided to stop touring as a recording artist after her album was released. Cyndi Thompson even did it after a Gold-selling album. Who knows exactly why it happens but life can be that way for all of us at times.

Who knows exactly why it happens but life can be that way for all of us at times. Sarah Darling is out on tour with Scotty McCreery right now though and frequently updating her Facebook as if nothing has happened as to her label departure, so I don't believe it to be a case of her going on a hiatus from her musical career. And as an aside, I saw Jessica Harp's 'retirement' as an attempt to just get her album out there so she could ditch her label since she wasn't getting anywhere. I believe I read something since then that said she's come out of retirement again, but it just remains to be seen where she goes next since she'll not be making much of a splash unless she lands on a new label. Ideally, her and Michelle would just get back together. Country music needs a girl power duo again and they could've been huge imo if they hadn't split, and it's obvious the solo route did not work for either of them (in Michelle's case, her shelf life from the early 2000s was long over).

An ad in tonight's Country Aircheck seems to indicate that the Randy Rogers Band has shifted over to Mercury from MCA. I wonder if there will be some more shuffling going around at UMG in the coming months.

But all the press stuff I've gotten from the label has had MCA so it'd have literally had to changed like this past week.

Well the ad for "Fuzzy" in last night's CAW issue had the Mercury stamp in the bottom right corner, instead of MCA, so that's what I was commenting about.

He's actually been with them for some time now, but the announcement is just now becoming official. There's really no chance that this guy will get a push to mainstream country radio, though. And even if they do try, country listeners won't want to hear his stuff. I don't think we really have to worry about this guy scoring any hits...his chances are slim to none. His appeal will reach only a narrow fanbase but that could still prove commercially successful for both him and the label, given that they won't have to pump anything into promoting him at radio (because again, I highly doubt that will happen).

Funny story...driving to a doctors visit this morning listening to WWYZ (Hartford, CT) they went to commercial and then returned with Cory and DJ Silver and the next two songs were remix versions of Beat This Summer and then a mix of 1994 and Better Dig Two...I'm not sure if they continue with that or how much they did but it was horrible and very annoying to hear on the radio.

^ Interesting that they list Ruth Collins separately, since she's also part of Sweetwater Rain.

Initially, she was signed separately as well, and then when "Starshine" was first released, the single cover said "Sweetwater Rain featuring Ruth Collins". They later did away with that and Ruth was featured in all the photo shoots the group did. But after "Starshine" went recurrent I noticed that the band updated their FB and website with pictures from the photo shoot, except the new pictures used are ones that Ruth wasn't in.

Steve Holy is also finally gone as well. I have mixed feelings on that one. On the one hand he's free from one of the most controlling labels out there but on the other they gave him a lot of chances that he wouldn't have been given elsewhere and I doubt he'll get another shot anywhere else. Hopefully he'll be able to do something independently cause I've always liked his output.

From Country Aircheck Today (5/10): » It's Always Sunny: Sunny Sweeney has signed with Nashville-based independent record label Thirty Tigers. "Most of the time, it's the managers or attorneys that initiate discussions about artist relationships," said President and Co-Founder David Macias. "In this case, I reached out, hat in hand, expressing how much we'd love to work with Sunny."

^ Never heard of that indie label before, but bless that man's heart for recognizing great country talent when he hears it. No idea what this means as far as commercial viability for her, though I never expected someone with her style and voice in this day and age to ever crack the Top 10, so I'll remain optimistic and at the end of the day I'll still be a fan and will certainly look forward to her next record. I love Sunny and am so thrilled that she landed a new record deal.

I did look up their website and recognized some other names though (Granger Smith, Aaron Watson, Casey Donahew Band, Ryan Bingham); most of these are Texas acts (as is Sweeney) and get played there. There are other traditionalists and also some alt-country acts on the roster too and I'm guessing some of the other acts might chart on the Music Row charts. The label is based in Nashville but again, the names I recognized mostly have connections to the Texas scene.
