The press release expressly stated Carrie would sing holiday classics so they should be in there somewhere.
And I'm glad it's not two hours of Christmasy stuff. Two hours!! I don't know if I can take that. These duet performances look greaaat to me :)

So is there no iTunes pre-order special or deluxe editions happening? This makes me sad :(

D typo21 it was epic. She sang a song with Kristen Chenoweth and Christina Applegate, a duet with Cook, Mamas Song and Songs Like This. SLT is awesome.
Review tomorrow.

Okay. I'm back.
Adding to the above post, I'll go into my personal experience.
You all best believe Carrie had her acting skills brushed up because she was pretty good at it. From the hilarious taped skits (most likely they will be shown during cut to commercial or coming from) to her camera scenes with Kristen Chenoweth and Christine Applegate, she was a pro.
I love her outfits tonight. Just picture Carrie in a Dolly Parton outfit, complete with the "chest enhancements' LMAO!
Also Carol Underwood debuted her stage acting, I must say as well as a pro. We saw Tab and Nap and Adam Shankmen. The SYTYCD dancers Lauren and Jeremy were purty to look at. They had to shoot couple performances twice. DC's solo, Cookwood, and Mama's song.
Not complaining at all mind you, it was almost a damn concert out there! The DC fans made a showing and "AI Crying girl was in the audience doing her thing again" *rolleyes*.
During downtime, DC did a Q&A session with the audience. Ace had a taped skit to himself and yeah, Mike baby was mentioned big time. If there are any questions to be answered about the couple coming out, it was during this routine.
There was no CC number but the new song "Songs Like This". It was a heck of a treat as I thought she'd come out singing CC when they set up the bar prop but the Tab/Nap choreographed routine was awesome and if you thought CC's dancing was awesome, wait till you see Carrie in action in this performance.
The only downside was it was the last number and they didn't deem it a do over so we only got to see her perform it one time. I would have love to see it over again!
Well, this is day 1 and I'll be back tommorrow and will see most likely Dolly Parton (who was scheduled tonight but couldn't make it) and maybe other guests.
This experience was so much fun and better than a Carrie concert.
One thing to mention about the whole night, Carrie was "hot pants' galore. More different hot pants outfits than I've seen her in 4 years LOL!
ETA: Oh yeah, Carrie and David "rocked" that Van Halen number!
ETA2: Carrie's performance of Mama's song touched an audience member to tears who mentioned she had 4 daughters and could relate.

Since the Sons of Sylvia were there anyway, did they perform "What Can I Say"? Any mention if there will be other guests tomorrow aside from Dolly? And I guess Carrie has a lot of solo numbers tomorrow. She still has to perform "holiday classics" and her "old hits." Did she perform CC already? Am I asking too many questions? Haha!

My recap: 1. Carrie sings a collection of 50s songs with Kristin Chenoweth and Christina Applegate: The first time around, Christina's dress ripped so they had to reshoot it (HELL YEAH) and I was pumped about that because Carrie sounded like she was on vocal steroids; her voice was FLAWLESS. I kid you not. No pitch problems, no missed notes, no exaggeration, everything was perfect. They had a dance and it was cute and a very entertaining performance. 2. Sons of Sylvia sing Blue Christmas: These guys are very talented. However, the first time they went up they sounded AWFUL. The guitar wasn't properly tuned so Ashley was singing off-key and it was a mess. The second time they got the vocal right, the just went through the song WAY too quickly. Finally the third-time through they sounded great, although they lacked a bit of stage presence. Actually, surprisingly enough, it seemed like only Ashley did. B+ 3. David Cook sings Lie: I have a feeling it's his next single, so I was pumped because I find it to be his strongest song. He starts off the song accompanying himself on the electric guitar then sings the first chorus acapella and it, honestly, was brilliant. Just flawless vocals. However, once the band kicked in, it got a bit harder to hear him and both times he performed he missed the climax note because the band overpowering him and he couldn't hit the note with as much power. Still, phenomenal song and he sounded fantastic. Plus, he got Carrie to blow me a kiss and wasn't upset when I used his Q&A time to ask him to introduce me to her (which got a lot of laughs ). A- 4. Carrie Underwood and David Cook duet on Why Can't This Be Love: Carrie looked damn fine, first of all. Second, the pre-performance banter was cute and Carrie seriously shot those jokes like a pro. I won't spoil anything but Carrie is quite bitchy, hahah. The song was fantastic. Carrie rocked the stage and let Cook take over and gave him credit during his solo and their voices compliment each other really well. Very good choice of song and Carrie blew the roof off the high notes. Wow. A+ 5. Carrie Underwood Mama's Song/Carole Underwood DEBUTS!: It started off with Carrie's mom being carried by two people from So You Think you Can Dance and her singing "Stand By Your Man" (awfully, lol) and then some cute jokes (that lead me to believe this might become an annual thing - listen out for that :)) and then Carrie starts singing. A slideshow of Carrie photos from her life plays in the background and two dancers dance while Carrie sings. Carrie sang with so much heart and so perfectly that many were brought to tears (including my mom) and it sounded so beautiful live. A 6. Carrie Underwood sings Songs Like This: I have a hunch this will be a single and I couldn't be happier about it. This is DEFINITELY country, and it is a kiss-off track. From the one time I heard it, Carrie was following some simple dance steps while she had serious choreography to a pretty line-dancey production. Some concepts I heard were maxing out the credit cards and stuff like that, but it was very tongue-in-cheek while being fantastic. REALLY short song but REALLY REALLY fantastic. My favorite song from this era besides TH. It was that good. A++ I'll go in to the skits tomorrow because I'm tired, but if you guys have any questions post here and I'll try to answer. BTW - She is more beautiful in person and my heart skipped with that kiss, haha. (My first time seeing her live.)

I was also hoping for a SOS/Carrie duet but no, they just sang their solo number. No CC yet, but we have tommorrow to see what she sings. I'm pumped after today. Please, more new album stuff! (nice review Stephen)

hope she does Cowboy Casanova full dance mode on SYTYCD as promotion to her holiday!!

Wow thanx for all the reviews guys! I love Christina Applegate! How cool is that?
I hope she does CC, as people don't know Mama's Song or SLT yet so she needs to do some songs people know.
I also hope she does Xmas songs today. Wow-- this is going to be good! :)

I am confused about the Dolly parton thing. If carrie did a skit dressed like Dolly but Dolly won't be there till today how did that work? Will they add in Dolly later? TX!

Sounds like we're in for a great show. By what I'm reading, it looks like we're going to see Carrie in a whole different light. Singing, "dancing" and acting. The trifecta.

Let me just say that if you enjoy the comedy of "The Office" or "Parks and Recreation" where the sketches start out with cheap laughs and the REAL fun comes in at the commentary, you will LOVE Carrie's music sketch. She is a VERY funny girl.
