I don't see how he's marketable. I see him making a bunch of Clay Aiken-styled records and then fading from view.

All he needs to do is release a Christmas album and get him on Oprah - then he's set. Or if they can, get him to hook up with Miley.

He has a really good song called "Angels in the Alleyway"- that should be his first single with emphasis on the guitar- I think his record should be "fun"- not a serious record- he should stay away from Clay-type songs- cliches and such- no Barry Manilow music- no heavy Christian themes- stay away from that- he's different enough fron Cook that they won't be in competition anyway- they won't have the same type of audience.

It'll be interesting to see how they market him. If they go the Josh Groban route he won't get played on the radio. I'm hoping he matures on the tour. He seems 12 instead of 17.
He has a beautiful voice and there's got to be a way to make $ off his albums.

So glad he did not win. I have no idea what type of music he will record.

I like his voice. I think Clive and crew can find him some pop songs that could do well.

Any thoughts on what label he would go to? I bet it's Arista (and the other David goes to RCA). Although I'm kind of hoping that they "ship" him to Jive like they did with Jordin. He'll be better off on a label like that.

I agree with Adonis. He should go to Hollywood Records, they'd be able to promote him heavily on Disney Channel & he'd most likely, ultimately outsell David C.

I'm surprised everyone thinks he lacks marketability. I always assumed his people would set him up with a modified circa 1990 Mariah Carey/Michael Bolton-esque album (think Leona Lewis), chock full of slick Pop/AC hits. And don't be surprised to see names like Ryan Tedder & Stargate attached to this project. Yes, the fact that he acts like a 9 year old can be an irritating one but he's not offending anyone so it's best to look past that. The kid actually has a great voice and I'd be pleased to have a male vocalist back on CHR.
But seriously, Josh Groban? Clay Aiken? Not at all lol.

Did they put "Apologize" on iTunes? Audio? Video?

OMG The guy who wrote "Angels in The Alleyway" Merrick Christensen has released it on iTunes as well as a second song "The Most Beautiful Part About This is..." and it's an album together, and both are better quality than what we'd heard before.
AMAZING!!

Does he write songs? If not, I can see them pairing him up with hitmakers. I'm almost sure Ryan Tedder would work with him.

it looks like he will be signed by Jive and Cook is going to J. www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiIDOL AFTERMATH: Richard Palmese’s J/RCA Music Group promo team are already on the case working the debut single from last night’s Idol winner David Cook, “Time of My Life,” which is being delivered to radio as we speak. Meanwhile, runner-up David Archuleta will join the Jive label for his album debut, coming sometimes this summer. Going against tradition, a single from the second place finisher will not be released until close to the full-length release date. (5/22p)

Looks like Jive is already pretty interested! ;)
How many times do I have to hear the same people say over and over how unmarketable he is. LOL It's like they work for a record company. lol

That's interesting- it's coming this summer- that's awful fast- and no single now- but they screwed up the singles last year- I have no confidence in them in this area anymore-
funny- that petition to get Jordin on Oprah. I've also seen petitions to get Clay on Oprah and petitions to get Blake Lewis on Oprah. Everyone wants on Oprah- LOL.
