"Raise Your Glass" rebounding some.
"All I Want For Christmas is You" currently stands at or is approaching roughly half of its usual audience peak.

If RYG gets it, then what will get it thereafter? :) Firework or We R Who We R the former is slowly gaining in sales over RYG and is shooting up in airplay, the latter has a video out soon and is also creeping up in airplay Aside from those two, I can see "The Time (Dirty Bit)" getting to #1 maybe the week the BEP album comes out

Surprised there's still no video for "We R Who We R."
In the week of the album release, will "The Time" gain sales or "lose" them because of the "Complete My Album" deal? Unless it was released as a single outside of the Pre-order deal.

Billboard should allow recurrent songs to enter Hot 100 as it did for Top 200 albums...
AIWFCIY has grown 2 generations (and counts...) but with that system it will never appear in any recap charts in the future. It stands at these few points from 1994 peaking at No-12. Imagine what it's position would be if Billoard counts AIWFCIY's points from airplay and digital sales these 16 years... Every year manage about 40-50 mil AI and as i predict this year will manage 60-70 millions ...almost on the Hot-100 Airplay in the country. Adding all these points 16years * 45 mil AI (average from all these years) + digital (and physical) sales=... I bet AIWFCIY would be in the top-50 songs of the last 50 years. But with Billboard rules is disappeared...
In addition, Nielsen allows Rihanna (or others in previous years, even Mariah as i rememeber)to play unfair and offer singles with discount prices. I think that game with charts must be played with the same rules for ALL. And something tells me that IDJ didn't care about my wallet and crisis because after she earned her 9th No-1 the price of OG came back to 1,29$. Rediculus...
Billboard ...more justice
(please all u Mariah haters or Rihanna funs think before answer if u want say something creative ...or nothing thanx)

I think RYG is deifnate this week and then it's anyone game between Pink, Ke$ha, Katy and Rihanna the two weeks that follow.

Billboard ...more justice (please all u Mariah haters or Rihanna funs think before answer if u want say something creative ...or nothing thanx) AIWFC "official" peak is 83 on Billboard as a result of rule change in 1998 that allowed tracks to chart. Since it was not a released as single, it never appeared on Hot 100. As a result, that was first year it had enough points to chart.

A couple of years back or so, when AIFCIY was at its seasonal peak, Billboard said it would have ranked No. 14 if eligible for the Hot 100.
For the time being, Billboard prefers to have active and current tracks chart on the Hot 100.It believes Hot Digital Songs (published in the actual publication) shows this annual seasonal activity. Keep in mind that Comprehensive Albums did *not* appear in the magazine, so sales action from catalog titles that had sales to compete with current albums were not being represented on a chart in Billboard (only online).

my friends i know the explenations of ...
i want your opinion if that thing must change or not
is it logical for a huge hit during all these years and so much more to come, it would never appear on even one recap chart? Or year-end s charts? Even if this 'd manage the No-100 position...

^No, because Billboard's recap charts only take into account runs on the Hot 100, which do not feature recurrents.

I do agree that it would be nice and better reflect actual popularity, but if a song stays relevant throughout the years (like AIWFCIY) then people know it's a classic, they don't need a chart to tell them that.

Anyone can charge 99 cents for a single. If the labels want to be greedy and charge 1.29 then thats their choice

in futute times we will see singles with 0,01$. And the artist with his label who would think that will earn ALL the 50 first positions....

in futute times we will see singles with 0,01$. And the artist with his label who would think that will earn ALL the 50 first positions.... Not necessarily. People are not stupid. While some do impulsively buy things just because they're cheap, unusually low prices with no apparent reason make consumers suspicious about the quality of products. Plus, there's no way that $0.01 singles would turn a profit, so, unless they were part of some far greater promotional scheme, the associated artists and/or labels would be out of business before they could sell too many more $0.01. The other thing you have to take into account is that retailers have some say in the pricing of their merchandise. The label can request something be sold for $0.01, but if the retailer is going to lose money by carrying the product, the label's going to need to throw in some other benefit, or else no one would have any incentive to carry the product and take a loss with every sale.

Billboard ...more justice (please all u Mariah haters or Rihanna funs think before answer if u want say something creative ...or nothing thanx) A good portion of songs on Itunes are 99 cents. I guess they shouldn't chart either because they are unfairly priced. Let's be honest does anyone think most consumers even noticed the 30 cent drop in price enough to induce them into downloading something they couldn't before? I think that's part of the reason I think IDJ's strategy here was kind of dumb...When it comes to buying downloads I don't even shop on price and I couldn't tell you the exact price of any single download that I've bought before because I know it's either 1.29 or .99 and in either case I just buy it if I like it.

Can we please stop all the talk about whether it's fair or not to discount the price of singles????
It's getting fucking tired and fucking annoying.
Can a mod please intervene, this thread is about the chart of 12/11/10.

It may be an interesting conversation (that's debatable) but it has NOTHING TO DO with this week's chart.

It may be an interesting conversation (that's debatable) but it has NOTHING TO DO with this week's chart. Sales are a component of the Hot 100. It has to do with pricing strategies that drive sales. I'm quick to shut down irrelevant or completely unproductive lines of conversation, but this one doesn't qualify. Thanks for looking out, though.

Not trying to be a smartass, but the conversation of Rihanna lowering her price to 99c is relevant to LAST WEEK'S chart thread, not this one. Why not take the conversation to THAT thread, and leave this thread for the discussion of THIS WEEK'S chart?????
