MARTIN SOLVEIG & DRAGONETTE - Hello: 22.435 (+ 0.122)
For a French DJ and a Canadian electro act this is BEYOND smash.
What is the personal best for Nicole Scherzinger if we DQ'd Come to Me and Jai Ho?

For a single never commercially released, it's 1997's "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers which spent 71 weeks on the Hot 100 radio airplay chart.

145k and still getting added at breakneck pace. Could Adele be heading for a record run?
Funny, because Rolling In The Deep hasn't really been blowing up like that elsewhere. Someone Like You is the big single in the UK.

Funny, because Rolling In The Deep hasn't really been blowing up like that elsewhere. Someone Like You is the big single in the UK. It's probably because it's the big "Adele" single. I wonder if any of her other songs will do well (I hope they do) but it tends to be the trend that many UK artists in the US are "one hit wonders". For example, Leona Lewis had a record-breaking smash and then disappeared from the face of the earth.

^She easily could score a decent hit with a more sing-along track, so I wouldn't rejoice in things too much. ;) Though whether she has such a thing on her album, we'll see.

^Still getting more airplay than some other veteran females have seen in the last several years. (though she's still newer than they and younger). She easily could score a decent hit with a more sing-along track. I don't know seems like the record company and Beyonce stay loosing these days. Of course Beyonce can get more airplay than a veteran act. She's no longer able to compete with her peers....which is something I didn't think would ever happen....but it did....and beyonce didn't need a breakdown or a super bowl stunt to kill her career. She just keeps releasing music no one wants to hear. *snicker*

^Well a breakdown only temporarily killed that other lady's career, and the Super Bowl stunt can't be blamed for the long-term commercial disappointments of the other- but that's here nor there.
"Run the World" flat out is just not a good radio single. Listeners like to hear tracks they can sing along to, and RTW just doesn't fit the bill in that respect.

I don't know how you could use Mariah of all people as a reference and then go on to say Beyonce's "time has come and gone". If anything, Mariah showed that you can't write someone off after a decade of success especially when they're only 30 years old. Beyonce built up a massive brand name over the last 13 years. I don't see that being wiped to oblivion even if this whole project does not perform well for her.

Beyonce will have more big hits. This is just a really weak single. Not only that, it's not the least bit radio friendly.

I think that's obviously a bit premature. Let's maybe hear the second single first. Even if the whole project tanks, she is enough of a name that she can come back with the right material. Mariah is the obvious example of this - she was considered a total wash-up-laughing-stock, and then Emancipation of Mimi slayed everyone in 2005.

If she did something as radio friendly as "Only Girl" "TikTok" "Cali Gurls" "Hold it against me" ect she could easily score a huge hit. Hell there could be some really great radio friendly tracks on the album, she just released a non-radio friendly first single, and 1+1 is way to old school to be a pop hit(Adele smashing or not). She should get Dr.Luke and Ke$ha to write her a song <3

I can't help but predict a Beyonce flop/burnout this era. It just feels like her time, but she certainly can come back hard in the future like Mariah, once the public misses her and the music is strong again. She's still young enough to make a misstep and bounce back.
The only thing that's worse for Beyonce IMO is the timing of this flop. To lose out to Adele, Rihanna, Katy, Gaga, etc. is going to give the public the perception that they're bigger than her and that she's lost her mojo and can't keep up which is a shame, really.

You seem to be kiiiiiiiiind of obsessed with Beyonce flopping. Beyonce is doing just about everything wrong this era. Guess she really should've stuck with daddy Knowles! I think she'll flop but still sell decently and bounce back quickly with a fifth album. I'm not really concerned about it, every diva flops once in a while.

The weird thing is that Beyonce's new material is doing badly when the public opinion of her is so high. When Glitter dropped, Mariah's reputation was that of someone who was mentally unstable. Same goes for Blackout. American Life came out when Madonna was going against US popular opinion at the time. X-Tina wasn't viewed in a good light as well when Bionic dropped. Yes, the material released was a big role in why those projects failed as well, and why RTW is, but I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about Beyonce.

Yes, Beyonce also got a lot of group-hug support from her musical peers lately, something the others you mentioned lack.

Actually, it peaked at #11 on the Hot 100. She came so close, it killed me that she missed out!! However, the first single off her second album was a brief top 40 hit, too bad it sucked. I don't know where her career is now though?

I see Beyonce as an artist who can sell downloads only with radio hits these days. She's more of a r&b/alternative star anyway - look at her collaborators: Diplo, Major Lazer, Switch, widely acclaimed The Dream...
In the UK she's performing at the biggest ROCK festivals and her BMA performance was praised everywhere. Even I, who haven't bought her records since DIL, was hugely impressed.
So she'll sell albums, in the US and WW and I bet there'll be a big Top 5 hit or two as well.. all she needs is radio support.
Although Kanye West didn't get any from his latest album. Beyoncé might find herself in the same situation. Time will tell.. I bet '4' will outsell 'MBDTF' though
