The most anticipated album of the year from the most successful Latina singer of all time, Shakira (whew, sounds all praises!! but true hehe ) The only thing confirmed was she is doing a duet with the group CALLE 13!!!! Rumors (these are published on her official forums and Billboard.com) are also circulating that: -- Shakira's album is set for release this coming August/September even though she's telling the media that track selections (a whooping 63 compositions!! ) is a task for her to do before album release and even Calle 13 managed to confirm the duet rumor as early as February... -- an almost all-English album will be a follow up to the Fixation series, but some Spanish tracks would be added -- her last album under Sony/Epic label before jumping to the most-talked about multi-million $$$ deal with Live Nation -- would work again with Wyclef Jean -- MAY collaborate with an Algerian artist named Khaled (throbbing her Arabic roots again.. sounds like, Ojos Asi??) -- would work with Pharell Williams, (first 2 photos below taken on a recording studio last August 2008) The only person familiar to me here, aside from Shakira, is her Cuban pianist, Albert Menendez (on the back): One thing in mind: Would she abandon the rock genre? The duets say so. Wyclef, Pharell, Calle 13... Well, the world know her not through her a la-Alanis Morisette style rock n'roll, but through the Pop/Hip-hop/R&B concoction..

I don't have anything against Shakira, but I'm soooo over her. The last great album she recorded was DONDE ESTAN LOS LADRONES? She's had some great songs since then--"para obtener un si" is amazing--but neither of her last three albums have been good from beginning to end.

Obtener Un Si should be included in her 1995 album, Pies Descalzos.. Out of the theme from FO1.. hehe
Yes, you're right. DONDE ESTAN LOS LADRONES was her VERY GENUINE ALBUM of all time.. After the MTV Unplugged debut, her music was so commercialized, especially the Oral Fixation series. I remembered that Sony/Epic Music re-released the 2nd volume of OF series, which showed Shakira's fondness to rock music, because Don't Bother didn't manage to enter the Top 10, the album sales was comparably low to FO1, and thanks to Wyclef's composition of "Dance Like This", Hips Don't Lie marked history. Even an alternate version from OF2's predecessor La Tortura was included.
But I really admire her to her writing prowess and in every song she write/sing/co-produced/played I could relate to it. I do really hope that her Spanglish album could match DELL in terms of genuineness..

Pies Descalzos and Donde Estan Los Ladrones will always be my two favorite Sharika albums. I would put Pies as my #1, but I love both. The music, THOSE LYRICS!! Just amazing amazing!! I've liked all the stuff she's done after of course, but they don't much my two favorite albums. I hope she brings back more of that and doesn't go to generic and anglo with so many big producers with which she's working.

It is obvious that she would not want to fail with the OF2 release and "Hips Don't Lie" served as her saving glory on the OF2 re-release. But die-hard Shakira fans would rather say to us that let's move on from the DELL era, because Shakira isn't living her musical career anymore to DELL era, she has a whole world to sell albums for and she is not exclusive anymore on the Latin market where DELL was introduced. Which is 100% true..

Pies Descalzos and Donde Estan Los Ladrones will always be my two favorite Sharika albums. Diddo.
There is a new Latin Pop radio station in Dallas which has been playing older, mid-90's stuff. Lately, I have heard older Shakira songs like "pies descalzos, suenos blancos," "antologia", and "estoy aqui". These songs reminded me how incredibly great her early material truly is, and how much I used to love her music.
I'm sorry, but she's too generic now. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just not the way I like her. She can do much more than shake her a**.

Shakira, why with Calle 13? As much of a praise that they might get, I'd rather have Wisin y Yandel or some other reggaeton artist than Calle 13. IMO Pies Descalzos has been her best album! While I'm not really waiting for a Shakira album [not yet, let it get until like July hehe] , but it should be good, she always does good music...

Shakira's been cooking up a lot lately. In fact, one report mentioned that Carlos Vives and his band may appear on Shakira's latest album.

Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 was very underrated and was a very Shakira album. as far is the lyrics and stuff it was very poetic. but i do agree that the singles were too commercial for shakira. La Tortura and Hips Don't Lie were just like following trends. they had that hip hop reggeaton thing.. altho they tried to put a little bit of cumbia in Hips don't lie its still very mainstream.. idk i love her spanish stuff even Fijacion Oral.

SHAKIRA ALERT #4: Unreliable source or not, Shakira is too generous to give us some news teasers about her new album, and I won't also be selfish to give it to you: Posted on: December 3rd 2008. Shakira was at the studio yesterday, working on her new album before she heads to South America to do vocals. She arrived with producer John Hill (of Stiffed and Santogold fame) and engineer Andros Rodriguez (who’s recorded Justin Timberlake, Whitney Houston and more) to record some of George’s vintage keyboards and get down some vocal melody ideas. We were hard at work till 4 AM! The new tracks sound unlike anything Shakira’s done before, with a really cool mix of vintage sounds and cutting-edge production. They’ll be returning this Thursday to work on more songs. The new record is gonna be HUGE! Source: www.cuttingcane.com/blog/?p=9UPDATE #2: Posted on: February 2009. Get a load of this! Alex Lipsen played keyboards and piano for some Shakira songs with producer John Hill. Piano was tracked at Headgear. Source: blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseact...iendID=13780379

SHAKIRA ALERT # 3: MERCEDES SOSA will collaborate with SHAKIRA in the former's soon-to-be released album and the duet is entitled DUERME NEGRITO. Who is MERCEDES SOSA?? Sorry idk her. hehe ??? Are you kidding me?! :o Shakira and Sosa!!!!!! That could help Shakira get back A LOT of the credibility she lost in Latin America after she died her hair, put some tight clothes on and became the "Latin blonde bomb" in the US. She regained a bit thanks to the collaboration of the grand Gustavo Cerati in Fijacion Oral... but La Negra Sosa is another level! She is one of the most loved and respected folk singer in South America. She is Argentinean, she was very vocal against the military government and had to leave the country after she was arrested. She is the best representative of the Nueva Cancion Argentina (sort of Trova music), and has in her repertoire some of the most unforgettable songs of the South (some are her compositions, others are covers but her versions turned into THE anthems they are now): Solo le pido a Dios www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIrot1FlczgAlfonsina y el Mar www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CAesBCjk20Gracias a la Vida www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyOJ-A5iv5ILa Maza (by the way, I found a version where Mercedes sings with Shakira! from the concert ALAS): www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxzPPQvHIZoI hope this new album includes more of the type of fusion work Shakira is good at, but with that good twist of intelligent, powerful music. Although... I am not that angry at her English era since Suerte or Whenever, Wherever captured some Andean-Peruvian influence in the music and showed it to the world!!

??? :o HEY, man!! Why that kind of answer? Are you a newbie in Pulse? RELAX! Chill down! You don't need to respond like that, especially when you DON'T UNDERSTAND my answer If you read well my post, I am mostly trusting your information, saying that it will be great for Shakira's credibility to sing with Sosa. I even posted a duet already between them. I never said that I doubted you. My first piece of answer: "Are you kidding me?" was mostly referred to your comment that you didn't know who Sosa was, so I did a brief summary of the relevance of Mercedes Sosa, so that you know more of her. Next time, drink some relaxing tea, read again and instead of assuming the worst interpretation from a post that may not be clear, assume the BEST one! With my posts, you will never lose with that strategy... ;) when I criticize a post, I do it clear and straight!

From my point of view they sound too sarcastic. And I am not new here.. I might be a newbie according to the parameter given by this site on the number of posts I have, but I followed this website since time immemorial. It seems that all your post are double-speak. Besides, I'm an Asian and I only knew mainstream Latin artists or the Latin artists mostly featured by Billboard and Univision in its home pages, that's why I said "idk Mercedes Sosa". You could think of other words/phrases that you could use other than "ARE YOU KIDDING" which for me it sounds like "Is-this-creature-fabricating-news-in-this-forum-for-the-sake-of-posting"? Well, for you it might sound on the neutral tone but beknownst to some other people who might encounter your post, that might sound offensive based on what you've written. And that's why I contradicted your post regarding Thalia on the other thread. My lexicon is broad enough to know chill and relax. Need not to remind me of that. But please, next time have a good, sensible, sound, valid or any adjective you could think of that relates to logical flow of statements for me NOT TO HAVE A DOUBLE SIDED MEANING of your flow of thoughts here. Have you seen the consequence of what you've done, right?? Yes, it's legal to say that everyone here belongs to the different phylum or wavelength, and some point in time there comes overlapping and/or misconstrued analysis of thoughts and when it reached the boiling point, we couldn't help but to defend ourselves (as a response to your other post on why I kept using all caps, basically for further emphasis) and explain the flaws of what the bridges of communication doesn't assume to say to us. I've said my piece well, I think, and hope you understand, and it won't misled you on why I'm agitated answering your posts yesterday..

OK, man, I got your point, and I want to apologize then for any misleading statement I would have made if it sounded double sided. I may have taken you as a Latin and that was a first wrong impression. It is really cool to know that you, being Asian, are interested in Latin music! :o And I appreciate your links and informed posts in the forum! Again, sorry if my sentences appeared slightly sarcastic to you, because they were not. My intention was more surprised at your not knowing of Sosa, when you were commenting on her, but I could have constructed my sentence better, I agree. However... you know that CAPS once or twice can be understood as emphasis... but they are also usually associated with SCREAMING or RAISING YOUR VOICE against the listener, especially if the words are like: DON'T YOU DARE!!! or things like that, so that sounded rude to me. And, as I told you before, when we are on the online community, where we belong to different countries, cultures, and we cannot see the writer face to face or question again, we can generally have 2 interpretations of a post. When in doubt, better ask or take it the best way instead of being aggressive, I think. In any case, let's just forget our misunderstandings and go ahead and understand each other better! :) I had the chance to live and study in Beijing, China for 6 months in late-06, and I made some good friends from China, Japan and Korea. I had the chance to travel to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore too, so I have a good feeling towards the Asian culture in general, and I had the chance to listen to Latin music in the clubs around there, which was all sorts of cool! :) Nice to virtually meet you by the way, ;) JuanK

Could anybody confirm if it is true???
18:32 Se aproxima lanzamiento de Shakira
Madrid, España
Fuente: Fav24
www.esmas.com/ritmosonlatino/fama_ultima/792026.htmlRitmoson Latino seldomly fails to give true and accurate information.. But without Shakira's confirmation, this I would not believe...

And all the forum people in the fan site are somewhat in dismay about Shakira's new look Can you blame them? She be lookin' rough. Not only that, the performance was a mess. I prefer the original version of "no hay nadie como tu" with Cafe Tacvba. I don't think Shakira adds anything special to it--except shaking her a** of course.

Well, I think that's only a promotional appearance of Shakira with Calle 13 with their newest single. Jumping over the hiphop bandwagon, as started in Hips Don't Lie, is the subject matter of those photos and the upcoming Shakira's 8th studio album.. Maybe those fans are not used that their pop/rock idol is now rapping and with those bling-blings... It's premature to judge. I'll have to wait for their album (before I express my dismay. jeje)

ALBUM ALERT: I'm sleepy and about to logout right now (Philippine Time) when I discovered in the Shakira fansite that Antonio Dela Rua confirmed that the "Oral Fixation" type of release of Shakira's next albums will be used, yes you heard it right, 2 albums again, but this time the English album will come out first 4 months prior to the Spanish album release. But the June playdate of the newest Shakira single would be in Spanish. Could someone have a heart to transcribe and translate it in English? The domain in the website that I will give is .co,which stands for Colombia, and most probably Spanish is the language Antonio used here.. www.wradio.com.co/oir.aspx?id=808449(The strategy Shakira is using for her albums only proves implicitly that Shakira is hurrying up to terminate her contract with Sony Music and she's excited to do albums under the Live Nation label, which is also home to the Queen Of Pop Madonna, also an (ex) Sony talent.)
