A while back I did a guessing game for my 90s decade end chart based on pop airplay. That game was well received, so I followed it up with an 80s one. Another decade just ended, so guess what that means? Yep, new decade end chart.
Since Mediabase didn't release an official decade end chart, Billboard only gave us a top 50, and AT40 only gave us a top 40, I worked my usual magic to come up with a full listing of the top 100 of the 2000s based on the official CHR/Pop charts (i.e. Mediabase, Billboard, R&R) of the past 10 years. I used the standard December through November chart year that the official charts use (in this case, the chart decade going from December 1999 through November 2009). This is not based on spins. I don't have spin data for the entire decade. If I did, I, simply wouldn't have had the time to add up all those numbers. I factored in spins from year end charts. I addition to that, I came up with a formula that factors in peak positon, weeks at peak, and overall chart longevity. The result, I think, compares pretty favorably to the official charts that we have seen.
THE RULES Just one: the same rule that I have asked to be followed in previous games shall apply here. When a set of clues is posted, please limit yourself to a maximum of two guesses. One of my pet peeves in these type of games is when one person jumps in and guesses the whole set. Sucks the fun away from everyone else, y'know? If a significant amount of time has passed, though, and clues still remain unguessed, I don't mind if you jump in again.
So, without further ado, here's what I hope to be a, reasonable, approximation of the top 100 of the naughts...
100 Parrt of an, unforrtunate, mini-trrend this decade. Because adding an extrra “RR” to worrds makes them look coolerr. Rright? Nelly - Hot In Herre (jamrock16)
99 My opinion might be in the minority, but I liked this video better than Beyoncé’s. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me (Rhythmboy)
98 A personal protection device used to shield oneself from falling water. Rihanna featuring Jay-Z – Umbrella (at40forever)
97 By the middle of the decade, this artist was trapped in a closet; probably hiding from the allegations of child pornography charged against him. R. Kelly – Ignition (at40forever)
96 An action one would do after a stage performance to show gratitude towards an appreciative audience. Rihanna - Take A Bow (95-7 Ben FM)

(disappointed) I should have thought of Nelly before I thought of Chingy! "Hot in Herre" was a #1 hit, and "Right Thurr" peaked at...#15, right, Cerebro?

Fun! 100. Nelly-Hot in Herre That's the one. Ben, Don't recall off the cuff where "Right Thurr" peaked. But it, certainly, wasn't big enough to make the top 100 of decade. The other song guilty of this offense would, of course, be "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera.

99. Britney Spears-Womanizer? Nope. I might also note that my opinion is, if nothing else, a lot less publicly embarrassing.

That's it. Now sit down, Kanye. Next set: 95. A male infant. Or an XY chromosomed toddler, perhaps? Beyoncé featuring Sean Paul - Baby Boy (somelikeitwhen)94. The biggest hit from this artist’s second solo effort. Overindulgence may cause cavities. Gwen Stefani featuring Akon - The Sweet Escape (JCMF3)93. A song with an, almost, identical title appeared on the very first American Top 40. This song appeared on Casey Kasem’s last AT40 episode. Casey mentioned this factoid as a way of bookending his run. Baby Bash featuring Frankie J - Suga Suga (95-7 Ben FM)92. In the early part of the decade, these two artists worked together on a couple of musical collaborations. Towards the end of the decade, they embarked on a completely different “collaboration” and married each other. Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z - Crazy In Love (95-7 Ben FM)91. The first of this artist’s five entries in the decade end top 100. This is the only one from her debut album and a track that became her first number one. Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent (thirddegree50123)

All three guesses are correct. 94 and 91 remain.
Incidentally, regarding clue #93, the song from the first AT40 with the similar title: "Sugar, Sugar" by Wilson Pickett.

JCMF3 got #94 and thirddegree50123 got #91. Moving on...
90. The first single off this artist’s second album, an album that produced five top 5 hits. Kelly Clarkson – Breakaway (kmbgs)
89. By the end of the decade, this group changed their name, but only subtly: they removed a punctuation mark. Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies (pgs71991)
88. Sometimes the second time is the charm. This is the bigger of this artist’s first two singles released to pop. Both singles bombed on their first go round but became hits the second time around. Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want To Be (somelikeitwhen)
87. 5,280,000 feet is a long way to hoof it. Maybe she needed the exercise? Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (95-7 Ben FM)
86. This act has something in common with Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Winger, and Santana. Daughtry - It's Not Over (erfrank)

88. Gavin Degraw - I Don't Want to Be Both this and Follow Through bombed when released in 2003 and 2004 so i think this is the best guess.

88. Gavin Degraw - I Don't Want to Be Both this and Follow Through bombed when released in 2003 and 2004 so i think this is the best guess. You thought correctly. Next. 85. The third of three consecutive number ones that launched this Canadian artist’s career. Avril Lavigne - I'm With You (WotUNeed)84. If you’re an astronaut, or a deep sea diver, I bet it would be pretty embarrassing if you were caught with this. Jordin Sparks with Chris Brown - No Air (thirddegree50123)83. Whenever I hear this artist’s name, the first thing I think of is a company that makes calculators. T.I. featuring Rihanna - Live Your Life (WotUNeed)82. The only act this decade that had the distinction of replacing themselves at number one. OutKast featuring Sleepy Brown - The Way You Move (95-7 Ben FM)81. This second single from his second album became his second number one. Chris Brown - With You (thirddegree50123)
