At the moment, the formatting of the chart on the AT40 web site is screwy. First, the date is incorrect. Second, the formatting would lead you to believe that none of the 40 songs on this week's chart were on last week's chart (One hopes this will be corrected when the page link goes live over the weekend). The correct data seems to be there, though, so we'll just go with it.
I'm still, utterly, baffled by the presence of "2 Reasons". It just, shouldn't, be here.

With "Stronger" gone, now the Wanted (average age 22.4) are the "old men" of the chart.
In addition to "2 Reasons", maybe "Your Body" was charted too early? Last week it unexpectedly jumped on, but now gets stuck at #40 though it should start moving up again next week.
Didn't expect "Blow Me" to jump 4-1 (I thought it would hit the top next week), but I'm not complaining since I like it better than "Whistle." This makes 7 #1's for Pink; I'm guessing it'll be there for 2 weeks and then "One More Night" takes over, which would be the fifth #1 for Maroon 5 and also their third to top the chart in the month of October (after "She Will Be Loved" in 2004 and "Moves Like Jagger" in 2011.)
Elsewhere, we get probably the first-ever Korean language top 40 hit ("Gangnam Style", of course); Taylor Swift hits the AT40 top 10 for the first time since early 2010; Justin Bieber's ninth entry is his highest charting yet (probably will become his first top five hit); and as I predicted last week "Good Time" moves back up after slipping a notch (went 8-9-6.)

Trey Songz is no 1 on rhytmic chart, I guess both Seacrest and Dees want a piece of this market. Anyway Im happy for the success.

Yes, "Your Body" was, also, an early debut. This week, keeping it at #40 is, just about, right when compared with the corresponding Mediabase chart. Last week, it wasn't, yet, in the corresponding Mediabase top 50. |

If I'm not mistaken, Pink jumping 4-1 is the biggest jump to #1 since Lady Gaga's Born This Way reached #1 in April 2011 (4-1 too, in only 4 weeks).
2 Reasons is oddly jumping up 3 to #34, is it even that high on the chart without recurrents?

Yes it does...the list is pulled from the daily update posted each Wednesday...2 1/2 weeks before each show airs...I deleted the songs that have already fallen off the AT40 chart.

Usher has another one word title, the top 11 get shuffled, and there are 2 new songs in the top 3. The latter also happened 1/14 and 6/23 this year. They played a longer segment (#8, 7, 6) than usual, thanks to the two for one after #10. Ryan mentioned the feud between Mariah Carey and Nikki Minaj, and talked to MC. Publicity stunt? He also said that Ellie Goulding performed at the Royal wedding back in the spring. He was only off by a year. Last week they were playing Telestrations at the "radio ranch" but this week they seem to be playing it back at the studio. |

The AT40 chart editors are going to have a problem over the next few weeks sorting our thier Top 40. I've already posted next week's chart, so I decided to look out to the week after that...20 Oct 12...here's the chart they must mess with. The challenge for them is to figure out which songs they must pull to make room for the big entries that must chart over the next few weeks. Diamonds, Numb, Live While You're Young and Die Young need to get into the Top 40 and since they have songs already inside the Top 40 that they can't remove (2 Reasons and Vegas Girl), I think they will have to get creative and remove I Won't Give Up, Wild Ones, and Scream a bit earlier than usual.
If they debut the A Team and Home next week, then things will be even more compicated.
