Do you by any chance have the year end Hot AC version of AT40? I'd be interested to see how their chart compares with the Mediabase year end Hot AC chart. Thanks!

Wow! There are some big descrepencies between the Mediabase year end chart and the AT40 chart. "We Found Love" was the top song of the year on Mediabase, but only #16 here! "Good Feeling was the #2 on Mediabase, but only #10 here. Perhaps AT40 is using a mid December to mid December chart, but they are 2 to 3 weeks behind anyway. So I'm not sure how they are compiling this. Less recurrent airplay maybe?

This one looks more like the Mediabase Year-to-Date chart posted in All Access with a cut-off date of early November. Ryan's first 4 year-end countdowns on AT40 were Year-to-Date, the following 4 had spins from December of the previous year; last year the survey period was from mid-December to early December.

So that would obviously favor the most those songs from the middle of the year. It should be interesting to see how the AT40 Hot AC chart will look.

Wow. This is completely different from my predictions. My #1, "Lights" is at #5 and "Glad You Came" (my #2) is the #1 song of the year. Sexy And I Know It fell just short of entering the yearend countdown and placed as an extra at the start of the third hour, so I guess they accidentally forgot to put it there. Surprised that Love You Like A Love Song came in.

I feel the AT40 producers have lost interest in this show - year end countdowns used to sound so much more exciting. Instead of (or in addition to) the extras they could have played a montage of all the songs to reach #1 in the year, #1s from other formats, montage of previous years #1s etc...makes me long for the days of Shadoe Stevens. Or maybe Rick Dees could take it over :)
Also I think they were over-zealous in removing some of the holdovers from 2011, Sexy And I Know It charted for 29 weeks in 2012, and charted higher than Without You every week (except for the first chart of the year) - not to mention ranked #15 on Mediabase - but was only included as an extra.

It's not Top 100 this year? What about next weekend? A special AT40 countdown or something?

Some of the stats mentioned on this chart:
"One More Night" spent more weeks at #1 in 2012 than any other song (part of "We Found Love"'s weeks were in 2011)
Katy Perry is the first artist to have six #1 singles from the same album
"Give Your Heart A Break" took 21 weeks to hit #1 - the slowest climb in AT40 history for any woman
"Scream" moved 25 spots - the biggest mover since 1973
Adele had the #1 album "21" for 2 years in a row, and no one has done that since "Thriller"
Nicki Minaj is the biggest female rapper of all-time
"Call Me Maybe" sold 6 million singles
"Somebody That I Used To Know" sold over 6 million singles; hit #1 in 25 countries; and was the first song to hit #1 on AT40, the dance chart and the alternative chart

It's not Top 100 this year? What about next weekend? A special AT40 countdown or something? The haven't done a top 100 since 2009. Next weekend will, again, be the top 40, but with different extras. That's what they've done for the past two years.

I guess we have to go to You Tube to reminisce about the rest of the top 100 songs. I won't be listening next week, but as is my new tradition since the end of 2010 will listen to last week's show again. At the AT 40 website they show the 13 songs which are still on the weekly chart with the year end position and last week's position even though it's apples and oranges. 5 of the songs that Cerebro has using inverse points didn't make the year end, but 5 of the 6 songs that he had "bubbling under" did. Adam Levine and LMFAO got shut out, and Rihanna is denied a 2012 year-end top 10, let alone a top 3 song. But they did us a favor by not playing PRA.

For everyone who forgot about last year's post: I just got this reply from AT40: "Hi Richard, Thanks for your email. Unfortunately, it wasn't our staff that made the decision, but someone higher up in the company. All we were told is that it had something to do with the people meter. It looks like it will be a year-end Top 40 show from here on out. Thanks, AT40 Staff"

I was surprised that one of the extras is Die Young in light of the controversy about it. Interestingly, the 13 songs that are also still on the weekly chart are partially paired up. 8 of them are in pairs: (33, 32), (30, 29), (18, 17) and (14, 13). Sexy and I Know It and Not Over You didn't make the 2011 year end survey either, though the former was played last week. 146 songs charted on AT 40 this calendar year, and we get to hear 40 + 8 + 8 = 56 of them (38%)

Good extras this year, and glad they kept in "Die Young," since it's a #1 song and isn't likely to make next year's yearend show.
