LOL, we should make an AT40 FAQ because someone asks a variant of this exact question every single week.

AT40 runs approximately two weeks behind the current (in this case, 6/03) R&R chart. Mariah was #16 on the 5/20 R&R pop chart.

No specific link. However, you can find streaming stations and show times here:

AT40 is about a third of the way down the page. To translate the times, 14:00 equals 8:00 AM EST. Go from there.

Actually, AT40 is only a week behind the published R&R chart (but 2 weeks behind Mediabase). The 6/4 AT40 chart would be best compared to the 5/27 R&R chart. Gwen has been number one for 3 weeks on both (Side note: the number ones on, both, Ryan's AT40 and R&R have been exactly identical since day one. Perhaps lending some validity to the comparison). There are, certainly, other factors at play that account for various differences. First, both charts have completely different reporting panels. Second, AT40 has no recurrent rules. Finally, from my own personal observations, I've noted on many occasions that "newer" songs on this chart have a tendancy to "climb slower" (as many have noted with Mariah), while many "older" songs have a natural tendancy to "drop slower" (perhaps, explaining why Frankie J. and Akon are still in the top 10). Why? We don't know. It just seems to be the nature of this particular beast.

I'm beginning to wonder, with the chart looking half like the May 20 chart and half like May 27, if they're slowly gearing up to be two weeks behind the R&R chart. That could be why some of the newer songs climbing slowly and the older songs dropping slowly (since that doesn't make any sense). It seems to be the only logical explanation. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, basically we care about it because it's a nationally syndicated radio show ( www.at40.com/ ) with a long history ( calbean.users3.50megs.com/at40/athist.html ) And it's also the closest we can get to hearing the official pop chart on the radio.

Ever since Ryan Seacrest took over, the show has followed a non-published chart (previously it used the Mediabase/R&R pop chart), so we don't know for sure if it's accurate. But what they tell us is that it's compiled by Mediabase from the playlists of stations that carry the show.
