American Top 40 - February 11, 2006

LOL at Papa Roach's chart run for the past several weeks: 28-37-37-35-33

Other than that, this chart looks pretty darn good.  I just checked and the number of recurrents on this chart can be counted on one hand, which I don't think has ever happened since Seacrest took over the show in early 2004.  We say goodbye to one of them, and it's the one that went recurrent most recently (I would rather it have been Kelly Clarkson or Papa Roach.  Those songs have certainly been on for long enough.

Another thing about this show - Every song on the corresponding R&R chart (in this case, the January 27 chart) has been featured on this show in some way, shape or form.  First of all, we have this week's two Breakout Tracks.  "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige debuts on the matching R&R chart at #40 and "Crash" by Gwen Stefani makes an impressive 50-38 move on the chart. 
Two of the other songs are two of this week's droppers.  There's "Soul Survivor" by Young Jeezy featuring Akon (which doesn't make sense, as it drops a spot to #30 on the 1/27 R&R chart.  I'd think that it belongs at #33 instead of Papa Roach) and "Crawling Back To You" by the Backstreet Boys", which falls 34-39 on the R&R chart.
The other song that's shut out by the recurrents is a song that mysteriously debuted a few weeks ago, even though it didn't seem high enough on the R&R chart for it to chart on AT40 (there were several more recurrents that week), "Catch Your Wave" by The Click Five.  I have a feeling that song, along with "Soul Survivor" just narrowly missed making the chart this week.
So, yeah, this is the first time that every song on the matching R&R chart has been played on AT40, either as extras or having been on the AT40 chart previously.  Rather impressive.  Now, if only Kelly and Papa Roach would hurry up and fall off...

EDIT: I just remembered; there have been a few AT40 charts on which there were fewer than five recurrents, starting with the November 6, 2004 show, when they did a chart purge.
But, since that was done sort of randomly, this would be the first time that there have been so few recurrent songs on the chart without any kind of chart manipulation.

LOL! Yeah, I remember that clown who visited the AT40 chat room the other night. He was an oddball.

There was also an interview with Tyrese but we didn't hear any of his songs.

And the thing is, he consistently makes the same mistakes on names. Over and over again.
