American Top 40 - March 18, 2006

Well, just one more week till we see if "Scars" can tie the record. Even if it doesn't, second place is secure.

Man, I was so pissed when I saw that Scars was still on the chart. True, another old song finally falls out ("Beverly Hills"), but I would have rather that song stuck around for another week, since it was "only" on for 33 weeks - nowhere near breaking the record.

I sure hope "Scars" falls out next week, but what do you want to bet that it stays at number 40 again next week?

If it does tie/break the 3DD record, I sure as hell hope that "You And Me" sticks around for awhile longer than it looks like it will and break both records.

Okay, I do have some SleazeCrest of the week.  However, he's on vacation so will be this feature.  Ryan is probably on a date this weekend with the mystery lady to be told when he returns.  He just doesn't care that much about this show as compared to his other ventures (AI, E Channel, restaurant business & KIIS-FM).  Imagine if he missed a AI show for a vacation. 

Interesting to note, this is the first week of his new E! job & he goes on vacation on AT40. 

Nick did a good job holding down the SleazeCrest fort.  Would you believe that Nick answered a dating question?  Yes, it's true!!!  An emailer asked him to describe a perfect date.  He said it doesn't matter where it is as long as the conversation is good. 

Where did this show failed?  The running joke of taking Simon Cowell to an anger management meeting was the reason that he could not be there this week.   Maybe mention this once, instead I heard three references to it.  It could have been more as I didn't catch every minute this week.  Second time, okay, I heard this once and it wasn't really that funny.  Third time, this is getting annoying.

If we go back to the Rick Dees show of 7-14-84, there was a running joke that Dees couldn't do the show that week because of a bad sunburn.  This was mentioned at least three times during that show.  The guest host was Big Ron O'Brian (happy St. Pat's).

AT40 now sounds more like WT40 now more than ever as the example just mentioned illustrates.  The canned laughter used this week made me wonder if Nick was on AT40 or WT40.  My reaction to Nick was "bland".  However, as he mentioned (on the show) he did get better as he went along.  The highlight of the week Nick's intro for the Ashlee Simpson song.  You wonder what he's really thinking.  

The question that comes to mind is Seacrest trying to use guest hosts not as good as him on purpose.  I think so because look how quickly the feature of other DJs across the country was dropped.  Just imagine if another DJ did a kick ass job, I don't think that Ryan would be happy.  He probably use one of his many bodyguards to break their legs.
