Idk why a lot of people are stunned w/Monica's predictions. She was never a big seller, didn't do enough promo to push this record, singing crappy music & doesn't have a solid fanbase. 55-60k are good #s for her.

I haven't heard any of the new material, or much at all of her material since the 90's but her previous three albums opened significantly better. I guess that's why people are surprised.

That's kind of my point. Lol. Back in the 90s, she was racking up hits, so of course her sales were far better than they are now. Even when she had the hits, her sales weren't mind-boggling. I don't see this album going gold like her previous one.

It looks like we have another horse race for #1 next week as Adele and Nicki Minaj battle it out for the post-Easter lead. Based on midweek reports, we're giving Adele the slight nod, giving her a 24th week at the top. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
Adele (XL/Columbia) 85-95k Nicki Minaj (YM/CM/Universal Republic) 80-90k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 67-72k *Monica (RCA) 57-62k Lionel Richie (Mercury Nashville) 50-55k *Bonnie Raitt (Slipstream) 45-50k Rascal Flatts (Big Machine) 40-45k *Hoodie Allen (Hoodie Allen) 35-40k Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 28-32k The Hunger Games (Universal Republic) 27-30k Of Monsters & Men (Universal Republic) 27-30k *Trip Lee (Reach) 24-27k *Prince Royce (TOS/Atlantic) 22-25k *Counting Crows (Collective Sounds) 22-25k Madonna (Interscope) 22-25k Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 21-24k Alabama Shakes (ATO) 20-23k
*Debuts (4/12p)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Big drop for Adele :o

Easter is over

Yes, but not only did she lose the Easter boost, but she lost about 10% off what she was selling before Easter. This is projected to be her worst sales week in months. The first sign that things are finally dying down for her? Maybe not, if Rumour Has It becomes a smash. ETA: Best week get for Gotye, but, like fun., album sales are still not in line with the success of his hit single. Nonetheless, consistency like that is hard to come by these days, so good for him.

This would be the first time she'd be under 100k since January.

The first sign that things are finally dying down for her? Maybe not, if Rumour Has It becomes a smash. She was going to fall down to around 100k or less if it wasn't for Easter. So after Easter she was going to see a larger fall than usual as her sales had been inflated a bit. RHI does seems to be picking up a lot, so that may help the album stabilise. The album still hasn't had a week where it's sold under 74k though.

^ Seems fair. This was going to be the week she fell to pre-Grammy levels anyway, but it still doesn't feel good to see such a big drop. Who am I to complain about a 60th week about 85k, anyway?

I got so spoiled with seeing 21 sell 100k+/week that I felt a little sad she's estimated to sell less than 100k next week but still great nevertheless ;)

I had no idea Monica's last album did so well. Did it come out right at Christmas?
And lawd I hope that was a joke about Madonna's vinyl sales helping her. Maybe she should release a cassette configuration to rocket back to #1.

Adele under 100k is so surreal.

Will Lionel Richie's album see a weekend spike following his CBS special and challenge Ms. Adkins?

I understand, just sayin' if this album were at 90K and #7, that would mean something different to me than 90K and #1
It is still the hottest selling album in the marketplace

This kind of decrease is rendered meaningless by the fact that every other album had it, too. ETA: Just noticed One Direction's projection. Dayum. This'll be a platinum album for sure.

We'll see what Billboard says first. HITS is usually accurate with their estimates. Do we really pay any attention to Billboard's estimates here?

One Direction sell more steady than i thought considering WMYB isn't really a big airplay hit and doesn't sell that huge, with the right singles and promo, maybe a platinum album?

Outstanding for One Direction and good to see Gotye pushing each week. I'd love to see 40k+ this week with all the promotion.

Vinyl sales are low, so I wouldn't count on any of that for stabilization. If I were to buy the MDNA album, I'd buy it on vinyl. But I do realize I'm in the vast minority on that one.

Top ten sales seems ok-ish, shame that the number one might be <100k
I was expecting Nicki's album to sell a little more... Under 100k in two weeks doesn't bode well for overall sales.
Of Monsters & Men (Universal Republic) 27-30k Awesome!
