Yeah, I'm actually really surprised that "All I Want" hasn't done that well on either format. It sounded like a hit to me, but I guess that's just how it is nowadays.

Easily the best song on the album and the most rocking song they've made in years. This is good enough to have been on Break the Cycle or one of the strongest songs on 14 Shades of Grey.
This may actually have a shot at hitting my chart once it gets into full swing.
Staind's history on my personal chart:
Mudshovel: #5, 25 wks Home: #4, 33 wks Just Go: #29, 6 wks It's Been Awhile: #2, 26 wks Open Your Eyes: #3, 47 wks Fade: #2, 33 wks Outside: #30, 6 wks (Pressure: #49) For You: #9, 20 wks (Blow Away: DNC, #198 for 2003) (Right Here: #59)
Not saying "This Is It" will crack my Top 40 just yet, but it may come closer than anything since the Break the Cycle era.

Why do you have "Open Your Eyes" on there? That was never a single, was it? I've never heard of that being a single. Or do non-singles make your personal chart?

I'm not really sure what the point is of making a personal chart then, if all it really is is you ranking how much you like all the songs by a band. I mean, far be it from me to comment on other people's quirks, god knows I have enough of my own.

I agree, which is why I've always just stuck to current singles on mine. Otherwise it would be way over saturated with a few specific artists.

Yes. My charts are my 40+ favorite songs each week. Obviously it's heavily based on current singles because those are the songs I don't have to go out of my way to hear. Album cuts have regularly been mixed in as well.

Or AFI. Hell, because I got into Rancid head over heels with Life Won't Wait, ...And Out Come the Wolves, and Let's Go simultaneously, there was one week in 1998 where 28 of the 40 songs were Rancid songs.

>> 23. 23. Shiny Toy Guns “Blown Away” [#21(3t), 15w]
... Have to provide my Shiny Toy Guns story first... Great choice Nicholas, this is my favorite cut from the new album of one of my favorite bands.
I was at the super-secret show in SoHo last month, and I had the opportunity to ask Mikey, Shiny Toy Guns drummer, about whether this song or Poison would be a single anytime soon. He smiled and encouraged me not to hold my breath... They did play Poison during the show, and when I asked the lead singer after the show about Blown Away, he mentioned that they include it in most of their shows but it's very "technology-dependent" and since they were having computer problems they didn't want to risk messing it up.
I have tickets to see them again at Webster Hall next month, keeping my fingers crossed...

But, So Far Away didn't make your chart at all?????
I remember when I bought 14 Shades I did so even though I thought Price to Play was pretty weak. I thought most of the album followed suit, but Intro and So Far Away were clear exceptions. I remember people thinking I was crazy when I played them SFA before it hit radio and was convinced it would be BIG. The first time I heard it on the radio I was helping a friend build a fence in his back yard and he also thought I was crazy, or at least lazy, when I dropped everything to sing the song!
I was on the fence about this album, but hearing comments here I just might give it a try. Break the Cycle is a top shelf album, so I know Stained has the talent to make something great.

Nice, though it took me a minute to figure out you were talking about STG instead of Staind. Adding to the confusion was the recent A7X discussion as well.

It did not. When that hit radio and blew up, it sickened me because I knew it meant the dark, heavier Staind that I loved was never coming back. Though I tolerated it as the single until burnout set in, I can't stand to let it play whenever it comes on anymore. I'd only let it play if I decided to put the album on again.
I, too, bought 14 Shades despite thinking "Price to Play" was a weak single. (Frankly, I'm surprised neither it nor "So Far Away" ever landed in the 41-60 range on my chart, because if you asked me if they did, I'd say yes. But my charts don't lie.) I told myself if the lead single on their next album was a power ballad, I wouldn't buy their new albums anymore. Two albums later, that choice has paid off, as neither of their last two albums was very interesting.

I'm really happy with this choice. "This Is It" is much better than "All I Want" in my opinion. "All I Want" was too soft for me and I got sick of it relatively fast.

It's a shame to see that they just sort of disposed of "The Way I Am" for this. That is a much better song, all round. Although, this may do something, "The Way I Am" would of been a better choice for me.
Also, think they're sending out a message by releasing "This Is It" as the last single off the album. Wouldn't be suprised to see Staind take a back seat for Aaron Lewis's solo project from now on.
