Exclusive: Rihanna Enlists Sean Garrett For "Feel-Good" Album Little Miss Sunshine is coming back. After a brief trip to the dark side, Rihanna is about to brighten up the airwaves once again with a new album. Sean “The Pen” Garrett spills the details exclusively to Rap-Up.com. With her current single “Rude Boy” climbing the charts, the Rihanna reign shows no sign of letting up. The pop princess is capitalizing off the momentum with the feel- good follow-up to November’s Rated R. According to Garrett, the project is already underway. “I got a record on Rihanna’s new album,” reveals the hitmaker. “She’s got some surprises.” After a tumultuous 2009, the singer is back in a good place with her fifth studio album. “The record I gave her was very, very positive, very big. It’s a f**king smash,” adds Garrett. “I gave her a humongous radio record. It’s just so infectious. It’s about getting past any drama and just being happy to be alive. It’s an encouraging record. It feels great and it’s got great tempo.” Like some fans, he was surprised to hear the dark theme surrounding RiRi’s latest effort. “Whenever I think of Rihanna, it makes me happy. To be honest, I wasn’t really that excited about hearing her in a dark zone. I love Rihanna for being girl… She’s like the lil’ fantasy chick—nice brown skin, beautiful woman with a Caribbean swagger that’s ridiculous.” The man who’s penned hits for Beyoncé and Usher is confident his contribution will keep Rihanna at the top of the charts. “I made sure that it was bulletproof. It should be a single unless something crazy happens. It’s hot as f**k. I think it’s a record that’s gonna stay on the radio for a long time.” www.rap-up.com/2010/03/02/exclusive-rihanna-enlists-sean-garrett-for-feel-good-album/OH!?

They need to release Fire Bomb off of Rated R...after that, they can move on to a new album if they want.

A new album after Rated R being out for only a bit more than 3 months? Um, ok.

They better release Fire Bomb and Photographs before they move on to the 5th album.

It's obvious that Rated R underperformed or didn't meet expectations. That is the only possible reason why they are in the process of planning a new album after barely 3 months of releasing the last one. Hot mess. Flop first single, rush releasing four music videos/singles to radio, massive slashing of sale prices, and now racing to record a new album. Island/Def Jam is just trying to sabotage all of it's stars.

If this means the return of dance Rihanna, it can't come soon enough! Can't wait. (Even though I love Rated R and desperately want to see Fire Bomb released).

Sean Garrett needs to just sit his ass down. The last record that he said would smash was Whatever You Like by Nicole Sh!tzinger and Usher's Papers.

All this three month talk is ridiculous. Not only has Rated R already been out longer than that, but its not like she's releasing another record tomorrow. Her first three albums were all released a year apart, and there's no way this is coming out any earlier than 12 months after her current set. Everybody needs to calm down.

It's okay for her to already start working on the fifth album, that way, it won't be that long between RR and the next one... I just HOPE this doesn't mean RB will be the last single off RR... they need to release AT LEAST one more single (FB)... two if they want to increase sales a little bit more (FB + Photo)...

Yeah, no. Sean Garret is just talking out of his @ss. He was never supposed to talk about this nor have they reviewed his material. They are actually quite frustrated about it, and we might just get a statement of some sort from Rihanna or them soon. Rihanna hasn't recorded a SINGLE song nor has anything been scheduled. The only thing that's going on right now is - producers/writers are being asked to submit songs for an upcoming project floating for a 4th quarter release this year. Which isn't a completly seperate project from Rated R, although not technically a re-release either. The next single from Rated R has already been given the thumbs up last week. Calm down. Monroe - lol

I hope they release a couple more singles before moving on to the next album but I'm also ecstatic that the next album is gonna be a return to a happier Rihanna!

But to think they are gonna end the album completly with it's breakout single... I mean, all you need is logic to know that's not gonna happen.

I'd loose respect for her if she dropped this amazing project so soon.
At least leat it out until the end of the year... and where is this tour for this album? Wasn't there suppose to be one?

They are probably just starting to record an album for release this Fall. Do you guys not remember that her 2nd album came out less than a year (April 2006) after her first (August 2005)?

I purchased this album when it released. It's a damn good album. However rushing another album out so fast? It's obvious Defjam had high hopes for this project because they shipped a million albums out.

I doubt this will actually happen. They said they would have a remix album due in February because sales were getting bad. Sales are getting better and a huge hit is developing. Eh idk to think of this. Summer, I highly doubt it due the tour and fall maybe.

So they were expecting millions without an "Umbrella" sized hit? Wow. Expectations are a bitch. Don't move on from Rated R!!

A re-release of some sort was planned LONG before Rated R was even released. There is no "5th album" being put together and this has nothing to do with Def Jam's expectations. I've talked to people. I doubt this will actually happen. They said they would have a remix album due in February because sales were getting bad. Sales are getting better and a huge hit is developing. Eh idk to think of this. Summer, I highly doubt it due the tour and fall maybe. No, there IS a remix album still in the works and it has nothing to do with sales of Rated R. People don't understand that the project was never supposed to be for the mainstream market. Think GGGB:The Remixes or Lady Gaga:Hitmixes. DANCE/CLUB Mixes. NOT J To Tha Lo or Angels Advocate.

Didn't Tricky just said how he is working on the RE-RELEASE of 'Rated R'?
I mean, this song might be for the re-release not for the 'new album' considering she is also about to TOUR

I know. She conveniently started throwing shade here no less than ten minutes after her latest essay in the "Blackout vs. Rated R" poll. Just hilarious.
