Wow, this is really bad. I like Darryl a lot, but I have no use for songs like this.

This is god awful. Awful lyrics, awful message. I hope this bombs like pretty much every other song he's released the last few years.

It sounds like a catchy hit, with a message that country radio will love ... but haven't people heard enough of these songs? Personally, I agree with most of the lyrics, but the overall theme is nothing new.

Not willing to risk listening to this one until June or maybe July. I enjoy Darryl's music but not his politics, so I see no reason to hear this one any sooner than my car radio offers it up to me. I think I can tell what the "change" in the title is referring to, so I'll just wait for him to return to love songs or something else I can enjoy.

Who were the writers for this song? Darryl Worley, James R. Brown (It's 5 o'clock Somewhere, If Something Should Happen), and Phil O'Donnell (Sounds Like Life To Me, She Won't Be Lonely Long)

^I agree so far, I've been pleased with most of the other songs out there, I'd have to say the 2nd worst of the year would have to be Justin Moores terrible one 'Backwoods' and Gretchen Wilsons song 3rd worst.

I love Darryl , but I'm really tired of songs proclaiming somebody is trying to take there god away. I really want to pull for him , but dang , songs like this make it really hard sometimes.

Oh I don't think it's so bad. A little hokey but there are some clever lines in there.

It's pretty innocuous. I thought it would be a lot worse. No reason to post a political analysis here, but I think this song is lightweight.
I still like Darryl, politics aside. But I hope he has a better song when it's time for him to move into the top 200 on the Whitburn list. Speaking of which, Jonsolo, it's time to get going on your mid-year update. We want the new numbers.

But I hope he has a better song when it's time for him to move into the top 200 on the Whitburn list. Speaking of which, Jonsolo, it's time to get going on your mid-year update. We want the new numbers. Geez, I still have three whole weeks to go, before the 6/26 chart comes out! What's the hurry?! Back in college, I'd still have another two weeks before I'd start doing the research for a major term paper... Well, tracking the Whitburn points list is a whole lot funner than writing useless college papers. And I suppose it's actually 18 days, until Monday the 14th, and the Billboard Country Update comes out that night, and we'll have the first half of the year in the bag. With only three more chart weeks to go, I've got a pretty good idea what the point totals for the mid-year are going to look like, so I'll start writing up the rough draft of the Whitburn update. Also, we'll see how the (extremely) early outlook is for the leading point earners of the new decade. Since that list does take into account the points that songs earned in late 2009, that didn't peak out until 2010, it's a little bit different from the half-year points list. Looking specifically at Darryl, he's pretty much locked into the #235 position on the list, assuming he doesn't reach the top 40 with Change in these next three weeks.

^^^ I am actually happy about that because even though I am a day one fan of him, I wasn't crazy about his doing that. I still loved him though and yes I saw the shot of him from the side. I definitely think that Darryl looks better with shorter hair. When he grew it out, it got too stringy looking. :(

Political jingoism and bumper sticker sloganing devoid of intellectual and/or thoughtful discourse aside.............this is simply a terrible record because even the song's production and melody feel safe and disengaging............which clearly runs contrary to the song's central intent in tapping into that populist taproot of visceral anger toward not just Obama, but the government in general.
At the very least "Shuttin' Detroit Down", as pathetic as it was lyrically and has since been all but forgotten among everyone, had a throw-back sound that felt serviceable. This song lacks even that and it is for that reason, not necessarily the politics of it, why this will have the life span/longevity of a fruit fly in your kitchen.

Haven't heard this song yet, and judging on the fact that its by Darryl Worley and getting such negative publicity, I think I'll keep it that way... I hope this bombs, 'cause I hate these kinds of songs

Surprised that this died off so fast. I'm not............for two reasons. One, Darryl Worley has never exactly dominated the Country format at any given time. He finds a way to get a hit here and there, but then immediately after he gets a hit, he settles with several releases that hardly chart whatsoever, including his last several preceding this release. Secondly, much like "Shuttin' Detroit Down", this single is especially dated and offers nothing lyrically beyond talking points you'll hear on Fox News primarily. Worley can whine all he wants about a conspiracy taking place that radio isn't playing it because commercial radio is a left-wing infrastructure, but the reality is radio isn't playing it, above all else, because it brings nothing new to the table. It lacks inspiration. It doesn't speak of a possible solution. There's no personal depth here. It's all just declarative talking points glued together. And who wants to hear that when they could just turn to cable news programming if they wanted to? "Have You Forgotten"?, as atrocious and opportunistic as it was, worked because it came across as an affirmative track that rallied a nation that was more pro-war at the time of its release. "Keep The Change", on the other hand, comes across as jaded and desperate, and doesn't motivate the listener. It just makes the choir he's preaching to angrier, but not necessarily motivated to do something about it other than shake ones fist harder at the federal government. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus
