This is a good single choice, although I was hoping it would be the third single (after "All I Want"). Regardless, I think this will be Darius' second straight top 10 single.
And sbp - Darius co-wrote this song with Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley.

Just played that song on his c.d, and told my brother this has to be his next single. Then I come on here and find out it is! No doubt this will be a huge hit for him. Great c.d btw!

I completely agree with you. Perhaps Darius will wait until he goes out on tour with Brad Paisley to release "All I Want". I can see that logic.

this sounds too much like his label mate mr. adkins "your gonna miss this"...yea, i would have went with "all i want" or "be wary of a woman" next, those are my two favorites on the album, but the whole cd is awesome... can we get a remix of "all i want" with brad? lol

this sounds too much like his label mate mr. adkins "your gonna miss this" I totally agree. It's such an un-original song. If it were my choice, i'd make the next single "I Hope They Get To Me In Time". This album is just "OK" to me. I gotta say with the lead single being so good, I was hoping for alot better of an album.

I like the album - would have liked All I Want as next single better, too.

I haven't heard the whole album yet, but this seems like a pretty good choice to me. It's a very calculated release, sure, but it's still a good listen. The song actually reminds me alot of Trace Adkins You're Gonna Miss This, except that this song sort of twists the message in a different way. I like it though, and I think it showcases Darius' voice a bit better than DTIDTAI was able to do. I would be very surprised if this doesn't make the T10, and it might just help Darius become the first artist to have back-to-back #1's (on BB, so Carrie doesn't count) to start a career in quite some time (was Jamie O'Neal was the last to do so?), and the first male to do so in a very long time (Clay Walker maybe?).

Right on both counts. I've got no male artist after Clay Walker who hit #1 with their first two singles by my count, and only one female (Deana Carter). Closest after that was Kevin Sharp, who started out with a #1 and a #3. (Jeff Carson's first two Top 40s were also a #1 and a #3, but he had a #69 before that, so he wouldn't count either way.)

XM 16 played the acoustic version today. He nails it. I like this but there are better songs on the album. I just hope Forever Road is at least the last single from the album.

I love forever road, too. I think the next single ought to be All I Want, followed by Forever Road -or- History in the Making

The lyrics aren't all that great, and it feels like a clunky attempt to rewrite "You're Gonna Miss This". Furthermore, the melody is almost absurdly close to "I Miss My Friend". And yet I still can't give it anything worse than a B, myself. This is proof that sometimes, a good singer can elevate a mediocre song.

... the melody is almost absurdly close to "I Miss My Friend" I looked at the YouTube video, and wow, it's true. However, I like Rucker's better - I like his whole album, despite many of the lyrics. Funny.

I really like this song a lot, and I hope it does very well; I found myself saying 'This is really good' when I finally heard it last night on 'CT40'.
If it does get to #1, it will undoubtedly be one of 2009's very biggest singles.

I was hoping for "Live and Learn" or "Forever Road." I like happy music. :)
I've been listening to his album nonstop for the last two weeks or so. Of all the crossover acts that have come into country, Darius has got to be my favorite. He's great!

I think it would be wise for Darius to choose a single appealing to more of the "country/bar/party" scene next, since his first two singles were slower. Much like Carrie Underwood did with "Before He Cheats" following "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and "Don't Forget To Remember Me".
I would go with "All I Want"

I keep seeing on here that everyone is always raving about FOREVER ROAD. While I like (not love) the song, there is something very 90's about the way it sounds to me. I think there are stronger choices for singles. Especially, as a lot of people have mentioned, All I Want.

I really like Darius Rucker's voice and root for the guy because I think he has a genuine respect for and understanding of this genre's history. But this song annoys me because its main hook has the exact same melody as that from Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Ha ha. Dudley you have a knack for knowing what songs sound like other songs. This is the first time I've heard the Bonnie Raitt comparison and you're right! It's kind of amazing to me that more songs don't borrow or sound like other songs. With all the music out there, over so many decades of music, it's quite amazing to me we don't have more overlap.

Ha ha. Dudley you have a knack for knowing what songs sound like other songs. Ha. You're right! (So I'll take the opportunity to ask Dudley what song Beyonce's If I Were A Boy plagiarizes as I just heard it and it sounds way too familiar.) But back on country music and this song, I like it but like Dudley, probably moreso because I'm pulling for Darius.

I don't buy everyone, just the good ones....:) I guess I'm just too cheap cautious. I once spent $17 at Borders on a CD by a girl named Joey Daniels just because I thought her song "Swingin' Door" (yes, the same song Catherine Britt released) was very strong. The rest of the album was almost entirely a total letdown; forgettable pop with steel guitars. The only two albums I own from this year are ones that I won: That Lonesome Song and What Am I Waiting For. I haven't listened to either one yet.
