Why wouldn't it matter? Pink saw a sales increase- granted, it would have been nice if it was more than 6%, after the Today show performance, but, still an increase.
Madge keeps chugging along, there, reaching 1.51 million. With no concert broadcast in sight, the album may not see any kind of boost, until maybe after it drops off the chart (if it indeed does end up airing).
And Kelly Clarkson yet again holds in the top 50? Has she dropped out of it yet?

Sales were dreadful again this week . I hope some of the upcoming huge releases help a little to increase sales again (even if it's Timberlake or Hilton).

One thing i dont understand...why sometimes Billboard numbers are lower compared to HDD's ??...when hdd are lower i can get because they do not count digital sales...

We don't know if HITS counts digital sales or not- they may be estimated in there. Digital album sales, overall, are rather low. Once you get near the bottom of the top 50 digital albums, it's less than 1K for albums.

The TOP 200 albums sold 2.8 mln altogether and in 2000 one particular album itself sold 2.4 mln in its opening week!
Actually 2000 was the best year for the music industry, nearly one billion albums were sold that year. I did some estimates: in July 2006 overall music sales are down roughly 28-29% compared to 2000.

And... this week the #1 and #2 most downloaded songs have more sales than the #1 album.

Ouch. I would've thought with the minor success of "Let U Go" and "Soundtrack to Your Life" that this album would do better. Hopefully there will be another single released and it can atleast get 200k.

Well, we've seen a lot of albums now where the single/s sell more than the album itself (Daniel Powter, Rihanna, Natasha Bedingfield, Ashley Parker Angel, etc.).
Pink is on THE EARLY SHOW this week, isn't she? Is she performing? I guess she is doing another round of promo.

if the low sales keep up, i wouldnt be suprised if paris had a #1 album or at least top 5 which is good. i didnt even know jewel had a single out yet alone an album so i guess that could explain why it isnt a big seller....not much promo.

So a record was set, but it was for lowest selling #1 DEBUT.
Billboard: Though the top debut is a great posthumous achievement, the Rick Rubin-produced "American V" sold the fewest copies of a No. 1 debut since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The previous low for a No. 1 debut belonged to Destiny's Child's "#1's" in 2005, which started with 113,000.

At 9 million units, overall CD sales were down 6% from the previous week and down a whopping 15% compared to the same week a year ago. Sales for 2006 are down 5% compared to 2005 at 179.6 million units.
