"HOOOO-LD ON, FOR ONE MORE DAY!"
Don't remember that much about it, but I remember the hook, and in the video they were on a beach

I like the story about Brian Wilson chatting to them at some charity bash. After they'd finished, someone asked Brian if he was proud. He looked confused, so the person, knowing of Brians erratic mental state, reminded Brian that Carnie was in fact his daughter. Brian shrugged and said "I should have known it would be the fat one."

Good tune. This video inspired the "Two Wows and a Cow" description of the group.

I loved it. I wanted to buy the album so badly.. but my mom didn't let me. Instead she borrowed it from my cousin so I could listen to it. Years later, I bought the album from BMG club and then resold it on eBay.

I like it a lot. Their harmonies are just incredible. I had the album on cassette back in the day and the whole things was good. I enjoyed all of their singles, but I'm not sure which I like best.

Good song.
Chynna Phillips solo album was incredible though... better than Wilson Phillips stuff. It's such an unheard gem!

This song was OK, but grossly overplayed (by early 1990 standards, anyway). The song achieved an impressive feat on the R&R charts by ranking at number three for the entire year even though three was what it peaked at on the weekly charts. In fact, if only it had spent another week on the chart somewhere in the 20s (between when it fell from 20-35), it would have come out on top (little did we know that just ten years later, a non-number one would top the year end chart, followed by another such song in 2001). Their follow-up, "Release Me", which sounded so much like "Hold On" that I'm frankly surprised it did well, I absolutely hated. I was waiting for it to leave the freaking chart. Now I think it's pretty good now that I don't hear it every damn time I turn on my radio. It takes me back to my college days.

Agreed!
I don't know why her version of Diane Warren's "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me" was never promoted. It's just as good as Faith Hill and Tim McGraw's cover.

LOL, Oh that's awful. This song was played by the lifeguards at every swimming pool I went to in the summer of '90, much like Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in '87.

This song always reminds me of how Wilson Phillips were made fun of on "Saturday Night Live." But it's an OK song. I like "The Dream Is Still Alive" better.

LOL, Oh that's awful. This song was played by the lifeguards at every swimming pool I went to in the summer of '90, much like Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in '87. And let me guess: It was "The Flame" by Cheap Trick (or maybe "Roll With It" by Steve Winwood) in 1988 and something by Paula Abdul ("Forever Your Girl" or "Cold Hearted") in 1989 (or maybe "Good Thing" by Fine Young Cannibals). I'm just going by the songs that were way overplayed back then, as the Wilson Phillips and Whitney Houston songs indeed were. 1986's song was definitely "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel!

Ahhh....from the summer of the big ballads. "Hold On" replaced "Vogue" at the top. It was followed by 5 other ballads that ran all the way into mid-September. It's a pleasant enough song even today. Can't believe it kept "Enjoy The Silence out of #1....what was I thinking!!! :o

Tell you what, if I ever make my own website on which to post my charts, I'm going to switch those two songs, since they debuted around the same time period. It may be a dumb idea to switch things around, but tough tuts!

Hold On was #1 for one week on Billboard but it stay on the charts long enough to become the #1 song of the year for 1990

Hold On was #1 for one week on Billboard but it stay on the charts long enough to become the #1 song of the year for 1990 Yeah, I thought it was weird that the song's peak position matched its position on the year-end charts in the three Top 40 charts I kept track of back then. I already mentioned that it peaked at #3 and ranked #3 for the year in R&R, but in the Gavin Report Magazine's Top 40 (which Dave Sholin's Insider went by), "Hold On" peaked at #2 and, of course, was the #2 song for the year, behind "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette, which I believe Sholin said spent three or four weeks at #1 in its outro on the Year End Top 90 of 1990 countdown.

I hated this song when I was younger due to overplay on the AC stations (such as Lite FM 93.9) in my market. Nowadays, it has become one of my all-time favorite pop/AC songs of the 1990s.
