No1currsty Purry has fans? I did not know that. Yes, new member, the artist who has just gotten five #1 Hot Digital Songs in a row, five #1 pop airplay hits in a row, and soon to be five #1 Hot 100 hits in a row has fans... Fail. Do you have Jason Derulo's single stats for his debut era by chance?

You know very little of what you so confidently speak.
Your logic is the opposite of infallible. Her music not succeeding would not cause her to relapse.
And no one would care if Jennette did suffer w/ an eating disorder, bipolar disorder, and cutting. She definitely would not be #1 on iTunes.
Regardless of anything, people like the song. People who had no prior knowledge of her. People who actually disliked her and her music before.Nevermind. You're pressed. Jennette could and will NEVER! Demi continues to rise on iTunes like a skyscraper. #STAYMAD

Song is horrible. I feel like the media is afraid to review the track honestly. They are afraid that constructive criticism will send her in a downward spiral. Basically the album will be a flop. Except that reviewers aren't the ones that made this #1 on itunes...

...someone is mad that Jennette McWhatever could NEVER! She hasnt resorted to cutting herself and making herself out to be a victim like Demi has. Big Difference. Also people are being easy on Demi so she doesnt resort to cutting again more than likely. The song doesnt deserve universal praise just because they are afraid Demi will fall off the deep end again. Why that was very rude. Someone who is such a big stan of Eminem, who has gone through his own personal struggles over the years, blatantly disrespecting someone else? >:( SMH, you disgust me.

Hypocritical? LOL. I love people who throw that word around who don't even know what that means.
Also Eminem writes his own stuff. Demi didnt write Skyscraper. LOL. Big Difference. So it's not exactly inspiring imo. Whatever obstacles she overcame is not what Skyscraper is about. She didnt write it. LOL. You can't compare the two.
Also...Guy.....this is not a Jennette vs Demi thing. So i don't know why you are making that argument. Jennette and Demi follow the other on twitter and have a great respect for one another.
I just think it's horrible a lot of the media is putting blinders on about how good the song is. So call me a hypocrite. I just made it obvious im not one though. Demi didnt write Skyscraper. Eminem writes his stuff.

She writes 95% of her music. She has written songs about her strained relationship with her father and other obstacles she's faced in her life. And the song didn't have to be written specifically for her struggles. The song was one that she thought really captured her experience. What about that is hard to understand? And it's just ludicrous to believe that the song isn't inspiring just because she didn't write it. Speak for yourself. You don't like the song. Just because you don't like the song, doesn't mean like everyone else who has bought the song or enjoy the song or has positively reviewed the song is doing this all out of sympathy. It's just stupid and delusional to believe that. If most didn't find the song to be good, it would not be #1 rn. It would not be garnering the good reviews. Look at underperforming albums like Rated R & Blackout. By your logic, the lead singles and albums should've SMASHED because it was their comeback from mental illness/domestic abuse. Finally, educate yourself before you go running a muck. #stayPRESSED

I see Demi's nervous breakdown publicity stunt hard work has paid off. Good for her :) I agree, I called this stunt from the beginning when she went into "rehab" I knew she was using this as a career boost because let's be honest before she went to rehab Miley and Selena were snatching her wig back and forth like nobody's business, Demi was (and still is) the Disney lessor. Cue her "tell-all" interviews where she plays the victim role, Demi can have the others fooled but I am glad some people see the TRUTH. Interesting to see how many people are checking for Demi now that she has released all her "emotional baggage" The song is good and her vocals are slaying but her album sales will be lackluster, Demi cannot ride high off the scandal for much longer.

Who said it was a career starter? I basically said it was a boost to help her sales.

Who said it was a career starter? I basically said it was a boost to help her sales. Because that helped Lindsay so much? The girl had serious issues, this has been documented. Is her record label trying to capitalize? Probably, but that doesn't justify calling her out or saying her cutting herself or being anorexic/bulimic was for publicity. It's people like that, that make it hard for girls(and guys) to seek help. Oh hey Amber just admitted she has an eating disorder, she's just trying to get attention Can you not see how that can be damaging to people? This is Pulse(and a internet forum)so I don't expect people to have respect or compassion(hell Mariah Carey could die and her haters would be dancing or Beyonce could get blind and you know people would be cheering). But to twist a serious issue into a big huge promotional gain and joke seems kinda mean. I guess Demi is fooling her peers/friends because they are all out in force supporting her too. And I really hope her story and pain can help others even if the record companies intent is too make the biggest bucks possible. And I just brought up eminem because his struggles are very much documented, and his last two albums were centered around his recovery. So I'd assume his stans would kinda get the point. Did he use his addictions for gain or just start because he'd know it would be great promo? Regardless if he writes his stuff or not.

I don't like "Skyscraper"...at all, but why must people be so absolutely crass in regards to her disease and rehabilitation? You have no idea what she went through and no idea what's she's going through right now. If she's using this single as her catharsis, so be it.
Keep your tactless, tasteless and ridiculous comments to yourself. Please.

People who had been paying attention knew about the cutting for a good while before she admitted it. I remember people pointing out marks on her wrists in multiple pictures (in which she often was wearing bracelets, but if they were bangles you could still see the tell-tale horizontal lines). Then when her PR finally did address it he gave some excuse about the marks being there because she'd had something like a rubber band or ponytail holder that was rubbing against her skin. Um, okay.
There had also been several months (maybe over a year even) of rumors about her crazy behavior that went way beyond the cutting, eating and bipolar disorders that she has admitted to. I know they will be just rumors unless and until pics come out or Demi admits it herself. But personally I believe most, if not all, of them are true.
If this was a publicity stunt it was the longest planned stunt ever, and it didn't even include the really juicy stuff. Now who would wait all that time when they could have done it much earlier and faster? She stayed in rehab longer than most celebs can be bothered to so I tend to think she was serious about getting better.
It is true that Demi was the 'lesser' of the Disney girls. She never had any real exposure or success outside of Disney, where Miley and Selena had; she wasn't dissed so much as she was just pretty much unacknowledged. So with that said it's ludicrous to think that all of the media is just trying to be nice to her to keep her from relapsing. If they didn't like the song they simply wouldn't have even mentioned it at all, let alone reviewed it - just like they rarely or never mentioned her before. I even think a lot of the reporting we have heard on the song now has been more reactionary (i.e., people saw song skyrocket on iTunes and THEN we saw articles and other celebs talking about the song).
tl;dr I just think it's ridiculous to accuse her of being an attention whore or to say that people are only supporting the song because they feel sorry for her. If the song just doesn't move you that's fine. But Skyscraper DID strike an emotional chord for many (including some people who were never Demi fans before) and knowing her backstory made it that much more intense. I didn't download the song because I felt sorry for her, I downloaded it because I love it. Can we not just let it be that?

Relax people. It's not like she will get #1 on the hot 100. Pigs will fly the day she debuts #1 on the Hot 100. I see Demi's nervous breakdown publicity stunt hard work has paid off. Good for her :) LMFAO exactly...the stunt sure worked out for her. I didn't know who she was before I heard she punched some chick and went to rehab. Apparently her last album was a disaster. She's not a musician. She is a manufactured Disney product who got everything handed to her, without any struggle to get a record deal or write her own songs. She's an "actress" using her 15 minutes of fame to cash in whatever she can (aka Miley Cyrus, Selena whats-her-face, Hilary Duff.) Poor Demi is already tumbling down. Two words: Disney trash. This was inevitable.

How is she "tumbling down" when she's still #1 on iTunes....?
I swear the short bus made a stop in here and left some passengers behind.

Good for her I guess even though nobody knows her here in Europe.

As usual, applechic is talking shit and making no sense at all.
People are pressed for no reason. I don't understand why. I don't like some songs that are doing well, but I don't drag the artist for it.
And it'd be stupid to not capitalize on her struggles. Just because she's being smart about it doesn't detract from what she actually experienced. The way some of you are dismissing her mental illness and eating disorder is disgusting.
And she's hardly tumbling down.

The idea that anyone would fake mental issues & check into rehab in an attempt to boost their career, particularly a teenager, is fucking ridiculous.

The idea that anyone would fake mental issues & check into rehab in an attempt to boost their career, particularly a teenager, is f**king ridiculous. The idea a teenager would not have psychological issues is ridiculous. Also, I don't see how she is tumbling. I'm surprised she still no. 1 actually.

I am not a fan of Demi at all, but I agree with a lot of people in here. She did not use her personal problems to help her career at all. It's sad that people actually think that.

I never knew she wielded that much power and thought over people to have them launching so many attacks on her just because she's sh*tting on everybody on iTunes. I don't even really like the song but I'm not gonna go out of my way to discredit her.

Before 'Skyscraper' I hated Demi and constantly made fun of her but I love the song and if you don't listen to it or watch the video and not want to go up to her and hug her or congratulate her on overcoming all of her personal troubles then there is something majorly wrong with you. Some of these disgusting comments in here are mind blowing.

What are some of these comments? disgusting, she's a really brave girl who wanted to share her story to help other people with her same issues, Skyscraper is #1 because it made an impact, it's there for a reason.
If you don't like the song that's okay, not everyone has the same tastes, but saying things like demi faked her ED to boost up her sales is just disgusting.
