I believe this is the 7th studio album from the country-pop superstar. I'd love to see her make a big comeback with some good country and crossover hits that blow up on the Hot AC/AC charts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- music-mix.ew.com/2011/10/06/faith-hill-new-single-come-home-cma-awards/Faith Hill hasn’t officially released a new single since 2007′s “Red Umbrella,” which went to No. 28 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart. But EW has learned exclusively that the country superstar is planning to make her long-awaited comeback by performing a new single, “Come Home,” at this year’s 45th Annual CMA Awards, which will air Nov. 9 on ABC at 8 p.m. Virtually no details are available about the song, but in February, Hill was quoted as saying that she’d soon be in the studio working on an album of new material. Naturally, she was tight-lipped about what she was recording. “I’m not even prepared to talk about it right now,” she told Billboard at the time. “I’m right in the middle of it, so it’s really hard to describe what it is until I’m done. That’s the honest truth. I’ll be able to tell more, maybe once I come out of the studio in the spring.” Hill hasn’t been in the recording studio in quite a while. Her last new album was Fireflies, which debuted on top the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart when it came out in August 2005. Subsequent albums were 2007′s The Hits and a holiday compilation, Joy to the World, in 2008. The CMA Awards are set to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who have done the job three times before. Besides Hill, other performers for the night include Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Paisley, Jason Aldean, and Keith Urban.

I dont know about her making a big comeback, her last singles pretty much bombed with one i think missing the top 40. HOT AC/AC should start playing her again since she was pretty big on those charts. But right now on the country charts theres only 4 main women really getting played on radio and even martina is struggling to get past #11. It seems were having alot of comebacks this and next year with leann rimes, sara evans, now faith hill and with shania whos expected to comeback and blow up with a new album next year. But ill have to hear the song to really enforce my opinion.

LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, and possibly Shania as you mentioned. Not to mention that Taylor just came out with her new album, and Reba's new album will drop next month. Carrie will also be releasing her 4th album next year. 2011 should be very interesting... I said the same thing about 2010, but that was because I expected Shania and LeAnn to make big comebacks this year, but it looks like that has been delayed.

YES! I'm so glad to hear that she will be releasing a new album next year. I've been waiting too long, lol.
Actually, I think Faith will do just fine. Her last studio album, Fireflies went # 1 sold 2.2 Million, had four top 10 hits on the country charts (Mississippi Girl (#1), Like We Never Loved At All (#5), Lucky Ones (#5), Sunshine and Summertime (#7 i believe), Stealing Kisses (#40). In addition, her X-mas album sold nearly 500k. Her greatest hit cd flopped though.
I'm sure Faith will comeback strong-as long as she makes a country album. Something along the lines of Fireflies and she will do just fine. However, if she releases a "Cry" sounding album, she will flop. I don't see Faith going down that road especially given the mega country backlash during the Cry era. Personally, I'd like a mix of the two eras (Cry and Fireflies). Oh, and I'm sure her management will get her on Oprah and we know how much Oprah LOVES Faith Hill!

I absolutely LOVE LeAnn, but I really don't think she is competition anymore. She had a semi-comeback in 2005 with 3 top 10 hits on country, but since then country seems to be anti-LeAnn. In terms of Shania--I don't know what's up with that chick. I'm not getting my hopes up for new music from her. I fully expect the war in Afghanistan to end before she releases a new album. It's so frustrating.

I hope this does well. I'm pretty sure Shania and Faith are actually friends, well they've switched spots to sit beside each other at awards shows a couple times I remember. Anyway, I think it's odd that we say "well there are going to be too many females on the charts" when every other year there could be a million guys and nobody really cares. I remember in the late 90s/early 00s there were many females artists doing well at the same time : (Shania, Martina, Faith, Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Lee Ann, Leann, Reba, Jo Dee Messina, Jamie O'Neil, Dixie Chicks etc). Now Terri has been dropped, Martina can't even get even get a top 10, Lee Ann Womack sees critical success but nothing on the charts, Sara Evans choosing many different lead singles to try out. If your name isn't Carrie, Taylor or Miranda, and you are a female artist, it's hard to do anything on the charts. I'm hoping this year will be a start to more gender equality on the charts. If anyone could do it, it's the queens Faith and Shania.

It's about time Faith records a new album! The new songs on the Greatest Hits just weren't that good IMO, so it's no surprise they did nothing on the charts. But going back to Fireflies, that was a solid album. "Like We Never Loved At All" is probably my favorite music video she has ever done.
Hot AC success is probably a stretch though. If someone like Sheryl Crow can't get a hit there, I don't think Faith will.

If anyone could do it, it's the queens Faith and Shania I think your'e missing one important name..... REBA. Reba has a 4 week #1 this year, another top 10, and a song on the charts now that will enter the top 10 next week. And faith's fireflies era was over 5 years ago, times have changed. It would be nice to see alot more females on the chart. But faith needs a really good song to get back in the top 10. And shania....heaven knows when shell come back but because of her reality show i would assume next year. PLUS, leann rimes' success at country radio is pretty much dead right now, her song didnt even reach the top 50. I dont see leann making it back into the top 20.

I absolutely love this woman. It's been far too long since Fireflies. I did love Lost from GH though.

Faith was punished by country radio after the AMA thing with Carrie U. I don't get the Reba thing -- there are so many other female singers in the format who deserve airplay.

The reaction to the AMA thing pissed me off. Honestly, people really thought she was serious? I knew from the second she did it that she was joking around. I couldn't believe people were actually criticizing her and saying that she meant it. I wish she'd do some more live shows. I would love to see her do a small venue tour, both since she can't fill a larger venue unless it's with Tim and because she'd sound fantastic in a theater type of venue.

I think the second part is the correct one. It's just her sense of humor. lol I really honestly don't think she meant it.

I am really really anticipating this album. I think she will do something crossover.
Cry is one of my all time favorite albums. I can see her doing something like that, especially if she's working with Brenden O'Brien. She needs to come back on more than just the country format.

The Cry album flopped though. That's why Fireflies was such a country album. If I had to guess, I think this next one will be more similar to Fireflies. Country airplay might not be easy for her to get, but I think it'd be easier than going for Hot AC play. AC would seem to be a given, but that isn't exactly a big format.

But it was a pretty big departure from her earlier sounds, which is why it didnt sell as much as her other albums. Even though I'd love another Cry, I think the album will actually end up being more like Breathe. I just cant imagine she will go just straight up country again.

Yeah. Especially considering the most successful female artists at Country radio now are leaning toward pop (Taylor, Carrie). I loved Cry too, but Breathe was really good too. Hopefully she goes in that direction.

It would be nice to see a nice country-pop song from Faith on her next album, that can maybe do something Taylor-esque, in the sense that it gets play on Country, CHR, Hot AC, and AC. But I think she might be too old for CHR now...maybe I'm wrong.

I definitely think Mississippi Girl was a blatant, calculated move to attempt to make up the ground lost at country with the release of Cry. It more or less worked for her though, giving her a solid 4 top 10 singles, which is still decently impressive for a woman at country radio.

"Mississippi Girl" was written FOR country radio. If only she could release it all over again as a new song. I think Faith has a GOOD shot at a solid comeback. With the exception of the "Cry" era, country radio has given her tons of success. As long as she makes something along the lines of "Fireflies", she shouldn't have a problem.
