Released in 1995, the soundtrack to the movie of the same name featured some of the most successful R&B ladies in the industry lending their voices to Babyface-penned tracks that have become R&B classics.

My all-time favorite album. It just feels so cohesive, and a lot of the songs on here are all-time favorite singles.

I hope we get a sequel of the movie, if only for the soundtrack. I'd be satisfied if it was even half as good as this one.

Basically. Even the non-singles are pretty good.

A collection of many of Babyface's best songs all on one album. This kind of care, attention, and energy given to a soundtrack release is something we don't really see anymore.

I haven't heard the entire soundtrack, but "This Is How It Works" has recently become one of my favorite TLC songs. I also really love "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)." I need to check out the rest.
EDIT: Oh, duh. I totally forgot about "Sittin' Up In My Room." Love that one too.

I was playing this while I cleaned my kitchen. Goodness gracious this body of work to this day is still amazing. Babyface is a true talent.

Some are lucky to helm one great opus. With this, Toni Braxton's debut, and his own Tender Lover album, 'Face has 3 shining ones.

Love Love Love most of this soundtrack. I was all about the Diva's and Whitney back then so I was SO excited when this came out. Being a HUGE Whitney fan I was a little disappointed with the first single "Exhale". After a few listens I got used to it and grew to love it. I was wanting a typical Whitney ballad not a midtempo chill one so for awhile "Why Does It Hurt So Bad" was my favorite. I liked "Count On Me" but didn't love it because I was constantly comparing it to their live duet "Bridge Over Troubled Water" they had recently performed. Again I ended up loving it.
Brandy and Mary J's singles were instant for me. I also LOVED Aretha's "It's Hurts Like Hell" and Chaka's "My Funny Valentine". I find both those songs very emotional. Patti's "My Love Sweet Love" also goes along with those two as 3 songs back to back may bring me to tears. lol. "Let It Flow" is one of my favorite Toni songs of all time. I wish they had given it a proper single release back then.
The songs I could do with out but I don't hate are most of the midtempos on here by For Real, Shaunna, Faith Evens etc. I should go back and give the full cd a listen again. I'm sure I will end up finding I'm into those songs more than I thought.

It's definitely a good soundtrack, but on the whole the album is a bit same-y to me. It is cohesive, but overly long for all of the songs having a similar vibe. I'd take out a couple songs in the back half just to keep it from plodding along.
Favorites (predictably): Let It Flow Sittin' Up in My Room Exhale Not Gon' Cry

This had plenty of radio hits that got airplay on 92.3 The Beat and Rhythm 102.3 KJLH in ‘95-96 such as “Sittin Up In My Room”, “Not Gon Cry,” “ Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” “ Let It Flow” and “Count on Me”. This soundtrack is one of the most amazing soundtracks from the Mid 90’s.

I loved the IG live!
Babyface said there was a song called "Somewhere There Is A Love" by DeDe O'Neal that was intended for the soundtrack, but it was left off for Shanna's "How Could You Call Her Baby" because Shanna was Whitney's new artist at the time. Whitney handpicked all the acts on the soundtrack. He said he doesn't know where the song is now. It plays in the scene below.

One of my favorite Whitney songs, one of my favorite Brandy songs, one of my ALL TIME favorite Toni songs, one of my favorite SWV songs..... I mean come on, this soundtrack is UNTOUCHABLE.
I always felt like "Missing You" should have gone on this album instead of the Set it Off one.

This is one of my favorite soundtracks. I just love the sound and vibe. Babyface really outdid himself on this body of work. This soundtrack is indeed worth listening to.
