U.S. Mediabase Airplay Update All I Want For Christmas Is You: 37.677m (+ 2.77m) Oh Santa: 3.234m (+.532m)
As a new Mimi single, OS best chart on the Hot 100, at least for 1 week. Its initial success won't be comparable to AIWFCIY (i.e. it's unlikely to reach top 10 at pop radio), but it at least should chart.
Best shot may be week ending 12/19 (for the 1/1/11 chart). Even though holiday sales usually peak a week before that, her ABC projects air 12/12 and 12/13, and could boost it a little bit.

AIWFCIY usually peaks in the vicinity of 50m-55m, I think. The daily gains usually lessen once Thanksgiving is out of the 7-day rolling period- but, we'll see. I think some titles even see small decreases after that, and then build back up again as Christmas gets nearer.

Oh Santa is #1 on my personal chart this week. It was also #1 2 weeks ago, but was pushed to #2 last week by Maroon 5's "Last Chance," which falls to #4 this week, also behind When Christmas Comes. In total, I have 4 Christmas entries from Mariah in my top 10, as you can see from my sig.

You know you're getting old when you hear AIWFCIY ... on the oldies station. That happened to me today. It was on the nationally syndicated Oldies station in Chicago today. Has this happened to anyone else?

Wow good to see it selling so well on HSN again! I would really like to see this album come close to or match the sales of Memoirs. She is doing enough promotion and marketing this to older people so I would hope she could end the year with 500k or so

Her cancelled Mariah Vs Jump Smokers remix album was leaked today. Wow it is just horrible. I know some people have said Mariah should do this kind of music to become relevant to pop radio again but I just cant stand to hear her over this eurodance crap

So a radio program on BBC2 called "In Search of Mimi" just aired and I have to say it was quite a good listen! It gave a fairly comprehensive overview of her career and was much more about Mariah the musician than just Mariah the successful singer. Yes they mentioned her #1's as well as a few awards and sales figures, but the interviews with Mariah and others put more emphasis on her songwriting, her work ethic, her vibrant and hilarious personality, her musical stylings - the Mariah we all know and love. I also like that they played a lot of tracks that weren't necessarily massive hits - "Anytime You Need a Friend," "Underneath the Stars," "Butterfly," "The Roof," "Breakdown," and "Crybaby." I did think it was a bit random that they played "X-Girlfriend" though. Really? They also didn't bother mentioning Charmbracelet. They briefly mentioned the whole Glitter/breakdown/buyout thing whilst "Loverboy" played and then next thing "It's Like That" started playing. Also sad they didn't even mention Memoirs as it's one of her best albums and I really wanted to hear "Obsessed" blasting out of the radio, but I guess people in the UK don't know it existed so might as well not let them know now. All in all a really good special and hope to see/hear more specials about Mariah in the future that focus more on her artistry and legacy than just her #1's and sales. Oh, and there was a really awesome quote from Beyonce towards the beginning about how mesmerized she was by "Vision of Love" and how it inspired her singing style. You can tell she must really look up to Mariah.
