can't believe this song is STILL #1. Gosh, it seems so old now. I don't even listen to it anymore. How many weeks has this been #1 on CHR/mediabase? 6?

it's proven fantastic longevity. It should've been tumbling 3 weeks ago, but it hasn't at all. Which kinda sucks cuz it's hindering LFN, but we still have time for that. It's early still before the adds date. This even gained AI today, lol. I predict this will definitely be in the top 5 of the year. How much has this sold? It must be near 3.5M by now.

10th week in the Top2... My god.
If it wasn't for Adele, this could have gotten at least 8 weeks at #1, even 10 if Give Me Everything Tonight stays at #3 for 2 more weeks :(

I think it may be safe to say, that in the U.S., this is her biggest hit of her career so far! :o
She just keeps topping herself!

I think so. It was bigger than all the singles from her debut era, and I think it had more impact than Cali Gurls and TD... Firework may still be ahead by a hair, but I think this will go down as her biggest single so far. I don't think Last Friday Night will top it, but I'd like her to prove me wrong again.

this doesn't feel like her biggest of this era, let alone her biggest hit ever lol
firework had a much bigger impact.

Firework had a much bigger impact emotionally (me included), but statistically, I think E.T. is the bigger hit. 10 weeks in the top 2 speaks for itself. Plus I think it will ultimately sell more than Firework.
but there is a huge line drawn between emotional and statistical impact.

i'll just throw it all out there, Firework gave me the courage to shave my head. I know another member of this board that came out because of Firework. That is huge impact, and that is just from this board. You can laugh and snicker all you want, but at the end of the day, Firework will remain a pivotal moment in my life, and in countless other lives. That is something that will make Katy Perry queen of the charts. Now I must admit that Born This Way probably has had some emotional impact on a lot of people, but to dismiss Katy as some nobody, who doesn't mean a thing, is simply ridiculous. Her accessibility has proven wonders, and the stats speak for themselves. With E.T., she showed that she could come up with an unique topic, create a stellar video that would rival the best, and kick Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, and all the other megastar divas to the curb. And i couldn't be prouder. <3

I still think Firework would be her biggest hit and her signature song when all is said and done.
E.T. is nonetheless a smash hit too. 10 weeks in the top2, impressive!

Yes, "Firework" is still her biggest song in terms of impact, but I think in the long run, "E.T." will be more successful statistically.

And just throwing this out there, although I really like this song, it's my least favorite single from TD....Still>>>>>most

So sad this is dead. :( Based on predictions by Kworb, this would be #3 this week, which would make it 12 weeks in the top 3.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question but where do we find these Kworb predictions? If you go follow the Hot 100 thread often, Kworb has been posting predictions based on his digital sales calculations and airplay predictions every Mon/Tues, a few days before the actual chart is released. He was all correct for the top 10 chart last week, and even predicted Hair would be #12. Anyway, E.T. digital sales now stands at 3,678,000 . E.T. 14 weeks in the top 10 12 weeks in the top 3 10 weeks in the top 2

this will sell all summer in the 50k range, i bet, so i think it will easily get to 4.5M if she keeps having a few weeks at 100k. still #8 combined. (not including those lucious remixes)

The Key of Awesome finally did a parody on this... it really describes my feelings about the remix version of the song
