The inaugural iHeart Radio Music Awards, which NBC will air as a three-hour special on 5/1—three weeks before the Billboard Music Awards (scheduled for 5/24 on ABC)—is the subject of massive industry chatter. Most of it centers on what acts will appear, the prevailing belief being that the Pittman/Sykes/Poleman team can get any radio-driven act they go after. Because the show is supposedly geared to tie in with releases from key acts, the iHeart target list will likely include Coldplay, U2, Lil Wayne, Luke Bryan, The Black Keys and Linkin Park, each of whom has a high-profile album scheduled for Q2 or Q3, presumably along with such radio staples as Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus. In the head-to-head competition between the two shows, Clear Channel has a clear-cut advantage over Billboard in luring name acts because of its immense leverage; the marketing opportunities CC offers are unparalleled. Because of this disadvantage, rumors have been flying that Dick Clark Productions would move the Billboard Awards, but they insist that the 5/24 date is firm...
This is from HITS: Coldplay, U2, Lil Wayne, Luke Bryan, The Black Keys and Linkin Park all Q2 or Q3

Billboard.com:
No U2 Album, Tour Until 2015 (Exclusive)
Billboard has confirmed with multiple sources that U2's forthcoming album has now been pushed back until 2015, with the band recently scheduling additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth. (Danger Mouse remains onboard as the project's central producer.) "It seems to be taking longer for them to finish an album as they get older, but the great thing about U2 is that the whole of a record is always better than the sum of its parts," says a source close to the project. "That magic that the band always seems to capture ... they have yet to capture it."

It's May 1st and record labels haven't even scheduled albums for July and August.
Are they trying to stay in business?

This cannot be true: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiRUMOUR HAS IT: Sunday night, on the eve of her 26th birthday, Adele tweeted “Bye bye 25…See you again later in the year.” An item on Time’s website suggested she might be hinting that her eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2011’s 21, apparently titled 25, will be coming out later this year. The project appears to be far along, if not completed. In March, Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote 21’s “Rumour Has It” and “Turning Tables,” confirmed he was working with her on the new project, while Wiz Khalifa described his collab with Adele on the upcoming album as “really hippie.” Phil Collins, of all people, revealed that he, too, was working with her on new music, which may or may not be part of 25. But according to Adele insiders, although the album may be released during this calendar year, but it's more likely to arrive next February, timed with the Grammys. (5/7a)
