How about 'Paparazzi' Gaga to 'Telephone' Gaga? That was her peak, for me. How about Just Dance Gaga to Bad Romance Gaga? For me, her turning point was happened with the Telephone video.

I love that first interview! I kinda agree about you, she just doesn't seem interested and seems a little self-centered in that second one. I love how she is now probably as much as her old self, the videos and performances she does are amazing, but I love her fun, personal self before she got famous. I don't think in general she's got worse though.

I kinda do. Something about her when she first came out felt exciting. But I still like her a lot now. Her personality has become a bit strange(even though it was strange in the beginning), so I guess it has become more strange I suppose. But I don't blame her, when an artist catapults to the top the way she has, they won't be the same again. As long as she doesn't treat her fans like s**t like some stars do, I'm ok. Pretty much. She seems to have bought into her own hype a bit much. But as long as the music is still good, I'm still interested.

I liked her until Telephone. Alejandro was too weird for me.

I'm still going to wait until this new era is going full force to make a judgment on this. To me, she had different personalities for 'The Fame' era, and then it changed again to a more dazed and darker Gaga for 'The Fame Monster' era, and I feel she's gonna have yet another huge change for this new era.
I think she's going to be one of those acts where her behavior shifts depending on the music released and the image she's trying to promote thru the definition of the musical era. If you notice, her personality and behavior started changing from 'The Fame' to 'The Fame Monster' when she was transitioning from 'Paparazzi' to 'Bad Romance'. She is still a fairly new artist regardless of how successful she's become so quickly. There's no formal definition on what 'old' Lady Gaga actually is because its still only been 2 years. I'm anticipating what 'Born This Way' has to offer.

The thing is here (and this is only if I understood the OP correctly) we're speaking of personality, not her material and artistry. Someone can be a perfectly good artist who prides themselves in their work (i.e. takes themselves seriously) and not be a total bitch about it. Yes she's far more interesting and all that but that should be stemming from her "art" imo, not her outlandish approach to herself.

She's taken her weirdness too far even in the way that she speaks and it's becoming too much. YES. lol Its so weird, she talks with her nose in such an awkward way. And when she starts talking like that is like this long continuing sentence, it almost sounds like she's doing the voice to a puppet. Is probably the only thing that bothers me about her now. I still in enjoy her and her music. This album will be a huge test though.

So people are mad that she is now a big deal? And people are nostalgic for the days when she didn't have all of the recognition and popularity? And people are basically longing for her to not keep advancing musically but to change her personality although none of us know her on a personal level? I don't really understand why people look at stars the same ways they look at friends. The way she acts in interviews is about who she is as an artist. The world wasn't necessarily listening, now they are. She has a small amount of time to get a point across and her confidence, focus, and commitment is reflective of her dedication and connection to her work, not to her becoming conceited or whatever it is people think. Why is it that people can't take their work seriously in the music industry. Then again it's an american idea to be stuck in nostalgia and longing or romanticizing the past. She was just as weird before.

I sure do!
Alejandro was amazing, but Telephone was lame. Bad Romance is too hard to top!

Not really. Her music wasn't anything special then, and it got better with TFM. And really, I couldn't care less about how she acts in interviews, sooo....'new' Lady GaGa wins for me.

Actually, only the last one is what people are saying, and she's made her personality very evident in interviews regardless of us sitting down and talking to her. Anyway...

I really loved the "old GaGa". I remember seeing her before she blew up in the States on Much Music. She was quirky and weird but it seemed natural. Now she's dressing in meat and everything she does seems so forced. I still love her music, but I do miss the "old" GaGa alot!

I remember when I first heard Just Dance on the radio and started getting super excited, I had heard it before and didn't think it'd get any actual airplay love. Then as it kept going up I got more and more excited. Poker Face doing well also made me super happy. LoveGame/Paparazzi period I was cool with her, liked her for her videos more then, album had kinda burnt out on me. Bad Romance and Telephone had me going when it came to videos but by the time she got around to the Alejandro video I was bored with her. Then I was pretty much done with her by May of 2010. Now I'm really not excited at all for her new album, I just have a guy feeling its going to be going more into the Dance in the Dark direction which is one of her worst. So no high expectations for her anymore.

In the beginning one of the biggest draws about Gaga was her personality, so for people to say "it's about the music not the personality" is dumb in her case. imo ofc I really loved the "old GaGa". I remember seeing her before she blew up in the States on Much Music. Yea I remembered I first saw her on New Now Next (which I think is that same thing as Much Music?) I loved her so much back then. :(

Had she not presented herself in such an outlandish way out of the gate she wouldn't be where she is today. Not to mention her music is completely irrelevant since the initial purpose of this thread was speaking of her personality.

Do you know what scares people? Success. When you're not competition, everybody loves you. recording artist Nicki Minaj I've always believed that to be true. That's an extent of the saying "they build you up to break you down." In detail, it's probably due to our own personal fight between compersion or empathy and jealousy. We always seem to support the up an comers while we oppose the high shots.

Her Vogue interview raised a few eyebrows among a few people On how she views herself as a performer: “Speaking purely from a musical standpoint, I think I am a great performer. I am a talented entertainer. I consider myself to have one of the greatest voices in the industry. I consider myself to be one of the greatest songwriters. I wouldn’t say that I am one of the greatest dancers, but I am really quite good at what I do. I think it’s OK to be confident in yourself.” Read more: justjared.buzznet.com/2011/02/10/lady-gaga-covers-vogue-march-2011/#ixzz1DgXdFhpjI love GaGa but I hate it when artists believe in their own hype

Not really. Her stupid statements and boring single with hot mess production and lulzy lyrics are much easier to mock. She's like a reality show now. You know it's crap, but you can't look away. I love this Gaga. Talk about living up to her nickname.

I like her more now. I initially thought Lady Gaga was very vapid and didn't have anything interesting to say, but I think she comes across as a person who has more substance than she lets on. It's clear she has much more to offer than just catchy tunes.

The Anderson Cooper interview is the first interview from hers in ages that I feel the "old" Gaga was present, so it made me think about this whole thread and what I thought whilst initially writing it, and maybe she's deliberately gotten 'weird' because she is putting up more of a wall since she's more famous, and that's what she does to sidetrack people. And now she only acts like her real self in certain interviews. So I guess it isn't "old" or "new" Gaga and more "masked" and "revealed" Gaga.
I guess I fell right into her trap lol She knows exactly what she's doing.

She just needs to go back to using Autotune like on Lovegame and Just Dance. I think it was Alejandro where she went a little downhill. BR and Telephone were great tracks and videos with still a lot of humor in them, not taking herself too seriously IMO.
