If you draw the Venn Diagram of Gaga fans with people who watch the NFL, you'll see... why she would be a very unlikely choice. ...she would be a great choice. I'm sure they'd want to bring in a bigger, different audience to add to the one they're guaranteed to have.

If you draw the Venn Diagram of Gaga fans with people who watch the NFL, you'll see why she would be a very unlikely choice. In general, I'll be surprised if they go with another pop act any time soon. Consider the state-by-state ESPN poll on the Black Eyed Peas' performance: What do BEP have to do with GaGa? They are completely different acts and could not think any more differently about performance. Honestly, I think GaGa at the Superbowl would be huge but I doubt it'll happen. Not sure she'd ever want to do that but it's possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was the 2012 halftime show.

What do BEP have to do with GaGa? They are completely different acts and could not think any more differently about performance. Only a reminder that the Super Bowl audience is very different from the pop radio audience. i got the idea alot of Football fans would probably like Country Music . not a fan of either though i watch the Superbowl more for the Anthem and the Halftime show and thought Christina and the Black Eye Peas were much better than anything in the game . Gaga would certainly be a good choice for me but whether the fans of the game would like it i am not sure.

While you are a fan of Xtina and BEP the football crowd usually prefers country or rock. The game itself was very good for a superbowl and far exceeded any of the performances. It is actually widely considered one of the worst SB performances ever. Lady Gaga will probably evetually perform if she continues on her trajectory but what the BEP's have shown us is that when an act gets overexposed they become kind of boring.

I'm just commenting on you're assumption that Gaga and BEP share the same audience because they're both Pop artist. Pop music is way too broad to generalize like that. And BEP is too terrible to have them be an indicator of anything

It was a decent performance. What da fuq more do you want? Would YOU(meaning anyone) do better than BEP? It was a mess. I would not do better, but, unlike the BEP, I've never contended to be a Super Bowl halftime performer, because I recognize my limitations. As to Lady Gaga being in a Super Bowl, I dunno, but if she wanted to be in a less important NFL game, the Browns might pick her up.

Maybe if Beyonce goes too. They can get a twofer...unless one of them starts pulling off the other one's clothes.

Consider the state-by-state ESPN poll on the Black Eyed Peas' performance: But if you draw a Venn diagram with Super Bowl watchers and ESPN poll responders, ESPN poll responders are a very, very tiny circle inside a much larger circle. Plus, even Pop listeners, and even BEP fans thought the performance was bad. The Super Bowl doesn't just cater to NFL fans. If it did, it wouldn't be constantly breaking records for the most watched program ever.

If they had the horrible BEP (apart from Fergie) this year, anything is possible. Next year it is in Indy so I may could see a Michael Jackson tribute (without Janet) of some kind since Michael is a native Hoosier.
Note - I didn't even see that BEP diagram until after I posted. I must say that I agree. It was pretty bad. Someone said they have been way overexposed so having them as the halftime performer was less than exciting to begin with in the first place.

Carrie Underwood will do it before her. #oop
No but seriously, I doubt she'll ever do it. The fact that Glee failed to maintain any of the audience it had form the Superbowl proves that the US still ain't ready for something as... out there as GaGa.

I don't think she would just because.. the majority of the people who watch the superbowl are not really a big part of her fanbase (i.e women + gay men). She would try to put on too big and strange of a performance that it would not appeal to very many people. That being said, I would really want to see her perform :)

Artists like Britney, Christina, Toni Braxton, Shania Twain, *NSYNC, and Janet Jackson have performed during the halftime show. I fail to see how any of them are more "appropriate" for the Super Bowl audience than GaGa. The fact of the matter is, some of you are being far too narrow-minded. There are sports fans who enjoy all kinds of music, not just country and rock. I'm one of them - I played football and several other sports all through school, and I love me some Britney, Christina, and GaGa. This year's show was panned because it legitimately sucked. It had nothing to do with the genre of the performers.

I had the same thought right after the Super Bowl. I totally want to see Gaga in a halftime show. I can see her wearing a helmet, football pads and perhaps a painted football field on her body.

Which is why they can take chances in bringing in artists of different genres.
