She looks like that woman in the office who starts feeling her drink at the office party and tries to turn up during karaoke.

She should serve everyone something like "Break Your Heart Right Back" by Ariana. I sometimes wish she sang "The Way".

Maybe her lead single. I can't see her releasing the album this soon, she doesn't have the star power to pull it off.

There's no way in hell she's putting out an album in the next two weeks. It's probably the lead single, assuming that tweet is any legit that is.

I personally think she does have the "it factor," but her personality isn't lively or interesting when compared to the crazies and divas of the music industry.

I think she's a perfect example of someone with a good voice who just doesn't have the star quality it takes for a successful music career. There is no "it facto,r"and there is absolutely zero personality to any of her music. I kind of agree, kind of don't? A lot of people don't really have "it" in the beginning (I'm one who believes that it isn't necessarily an inherent thing, but can be developed), but what some of them do have is someone to hold their hand and help them make the right choices + a supportive label. Jordin never really had either of those things...though I wish the best for her I don't really trust her ability to know the difference between a smash and just an okay song, and she apparently doesn't have anyone in her corner who can or will do it for her either. The right team could help her develop that It factor but she's never had the right team and probably never will. Which is a bummer because like I said in a post one or two pages prior, she doesn't strike me as one who really has what it takes to go the indie route, but for a voice like hers to not eventually find its place somewhere in mainstream seems like such a waste. All that said the single could surprise me and be great, I dunno. Hope springs eternal.

She had such a strong start and then like most Idols, her team just... gave up.
She has honestly no it factor, but I do think she has something else, I don't really know what though. But it really makes me like her, and I really like her songs and voice, so I hope that she gets someone (like what Cynthia said) that can really help her throughout her career...

I almost feel like she got famous too fast. She's only like 24 or 25 right? Plenty of artists are just getting started at that age and she's already come and gone.
I bet if she signed with a label or, like antigonerising said, had a mentor like Jay or Timbaland or Missy (or their current equivalents) to develop her when she was like 19 or 20, she'd be in a much different place.
ITA that "it factor" isn't always innate. It took Rihanna three eras to break out of her shell and there are plenty of other artists who struggled to find an identity in their first few albums. Idk if Jordan has the backing she needs to find hers though.

Talk about "it factor" always irritates me, because it's so easy to say who you don't like is missing it. There are so many successful singers that, imo, don't have the "it factor." Success has much more to do with marketing and consistently good music than anything else, and sometimes even that doesn't mean an artist makes it. Jordin will never be a star in R&B, but I think she would be/has been great in other lanes.

Come on now! Jordin had the best debut era in pop of an AI winner. Overall, her debut era was just second to Carrie's. Tattoo/No Air/One step at a time was a 1-2-3 punch unseen for an AI winner (bar Carrie). She wasn't my favorite in her AI season, but I ended up liking her and appreciating the quality in songs like I Who Have Nothing. Her initial image was good enough. Even Battlefield was a great song that showed more maturity. Up to that point I thought she had in the bag!! Actually, many of us were disappointed at the label moving too fast from her debut era, which could have easily had one or two more hits. The utter mistake of SOS, with an unfortunate image change, obscure imagery, and irrelevant/dated remake was the worst decision ever for her career. All Jordin had done went to the toilet, and her team too easily gave up and didn't do anything on image control or to rescue the project. She had some kind of star quality. Girly and somewhat innocent (with the whole purity ring) but not forced... She seemed natural and honest, which helped... Just needed to develop further confidence and stronger image, but that could come easily with a bit more work. Kelly was SUPER cheesy in her first era. Carrie improved with each era. Rihanna was boring, bad dancer and so so singer up until her third era. Jordin was in good track. I don't know now... But she could still do it if she has the right team. Hope she can make a comeback!!

Let's not act like Salaam Remi is some crappy producer...this guy has done incredible work and has the Grammys to show for it. Someone told me she had a dj mustard record. Even though she has the whole new image and wight loss with "I Am Woman", it's been so long that essentially Sony needs to focus on reintroducing her as if she were a new artist. She's still young. I also think it's important that she's introduced as a singer/songwriter rather than just Jordin Sparks

You see I think she does have 'it'. Just in a more classic, classy, relatable, approachable way. I've met her, seen her in interviews. To me, she oozes star. She might not have a bitchy bone in her body which most everybody seems to have to have as a girl in the Pop industry (bar perhaps Kelly/Taylor). I mean take that Wendy interview below. So much poise and confidence. Her debut clearly showed there was a market for her; innocent, straightforward, uncomplicated Pop everygirl. Not Pop/Rock like Kelly or Pop/Country like Taylor. But Pop/R&B. That was her lane. I think she has a massively underrated voice, better than Leona for instance. She absolutely tore apart Battlefield which was an amazing song in itself. I think it's a mixture of lacking material as she went on and not enough support/a good enough team behind her. As for her fall from musical stardom? I at least think it's for those reasons far more prevalently than it is from the fact that she lacks star quality.

She should stick to what she's best at. Pop/R&B. I still play "One Step At A Time" here and there.

I would say that both Kelly and Carrie developed more hardcore fans from the get go, but even so, they managed to grow and continue to make connections with people beyond just their current single. I see Jordin's fall as a horrible mistake in singles for a new artist without a concrete handhold in the industry yet. Also, the overall banishment of pop/R&B artists soon after Battlefield, which isn't something Kelly or Carrie had to deal with. I'll be honest that I don't think a fanbase would have been there for Kelly if she had disappeared for 5 years after My December, much less if she reappeared without the label support that handed her a song as good as "My Life Would Suck Without You" to revive her.
