Are you asking who we prefer as an artist? Who has a better whistle? What song we like better? Who has a better whistle in those two songs?
FTR Minnie has the better whistle but I prefer Mariah's music.

What's a ''Minnie Riperton'' ??? #jw
J/K. She obviously is more proficient using the whistle register, but I prefer Mariah...

Minnie Riperton >>> Mariah Carey's lyf+babies and throw in Nick
In all seriousness, it seems like Minnie's whistles are more effortless, but both are very talented vocally

LOL, nobody here knows who Minnie Riperton is/was.
Minnie's whistles were more effortless, so she gets the edge.

One of those songs is legendary and has been covered a number of times since its release.
One of those songs is a vocal debacle where the vocalist struggled/s to perform the song live.
Can you figure out which is which?
Minnie >>>>> Mariah; overall, it's not close.

It's hard to use these two songs to compare. Loving You is one of Minnie's most famous song in which she showcases her whistler register flawlessly.
Emotions is pretty much Mariah hitting every possible single note imaginable, growling, and giggling.
There's better songs to highlight Mariah's whistle. All In Your Mind and Bliss come to mind right away.

Both are incredibly great at tackling those notes. I prefer Mariah's, bit Minnie's had a special quality to them too. I will say Mariah is the queen of whistle notes because of her mastery, fluidity, range, tonal quality, etc in that register. She can/could enunciate words and do spectacular runs in the register. Just wow.

Could you put aside your hate for a minute to recognize some real talent? I think a better reply would've been, "One of those is the artist's only signature song outside of which no one seems to have clue what songs that artist has done and the other is a solid but not the best nor most memorable of the artist's catalogue." That sounds a bit more accurate than, "I hate Mariah so it's obvious who I'm voting for."

Mariah is actually one of my favorite singers, and my 6th most played artist on my iTunes (out of 365 total artists). See where ASSuming has gotten you? lol. An even better reply could have been "The one who didn't get taken to court over their song." I could have replied "The one where the vocalist DOESN'T struggle to sing their song live." I could have replied a number of ways.

^Rocket Love, Mariah have sung Emotions countless of times flawlessly. I don't undertsand where you're getting this from..."The one where the vocalist DOESN'T struggle to sing their song live."
And for someone who says Mariah is one of their favorite singers you sure hate on her a lot. I don't think I've ever seen you say something positive about MC. Don't blame anyone for assuming the obvious.
My vote goes to Mariah, obv. Not only do I think she has mastered the whistle note but I just can't compare Mariah to basically a one hit wonder.

Mariah struggles to sing that song lol. The performances are proof of that.
I don't have to say anything nice about anyone. The only thing I have to do is obey the rules, and respect the members here. ;)
And right, there is no comparison. It's clear which is the better vocalist, just as it's clear who has 18 #1s. ;)

"Emotions" has got to be one of the hardest female pop songs to sing ever. I can't actually think of a more challenging one.
That being said, I'm impressed with Minnie's ability to actually enunciate words with her whistle notes and they come out a little more effortlessly. I'll vote for her, but it's clear Mariah has the superior voice and material.
