Rob Thomas is pretty much an AC staple. This song could reach very high.

Rob Thomas is pretty much an AC staple. This song could reach very high. I think he definitely has the voice and personality to be one. I guess you just can't call an artist a "staple" until after they've made more than several strong chart showings. matchbox twenty currently have two AC hits, and this will make it four for tracks involving Rob Thomas. You're right about the typical definition of "staple". I guess I just mean Rob Thomas has been able to do very well on songs that normally wouldn't make the AC chart, and he has done it again and again - with his Matchbox Twenty material before pop-rock became more prevalent on AC, "Smooth" with Santana, and now "Lonely No More". I think AC programmers do give more serious consideration when he releases a song, over other artists that may release similar material (which would probably be deemed inappropriate right off the bat).

Rob Thomas is pretty much an AC staple. This song could reach very high. You're going to put Rob Thomas in the same category as Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Celine Dion, and more recently Faith Hill and Shania Twain? Having one solo effort chart on the AC chart and a couple of other hits does not make Rob Thomas a "staple" for this format. And BTW, "Real World" also charted on AC, peaking in the 27-30 range. But, if you want to use that definition, then I guess John Mayer and Maroon 5 are AC staples.

Maroon Five would be going even further out there as their success has all been with one album.

Rob has a really nice bullet on AC now. Where do you think the song will peak?
I'll go with #4.

If he can crack Top 10 on CHR\POP this song might maintain a really brutal bullet ad possibly find himself having AC's "fun, summer song", as well as a peak at #1 or #2.

It's climbing back up CHR/Pop. It's #16 today with a very strong bullet of +544. AC needs to kick this into high gear.

LOL, I wouldn't be surprised if Lonely No More doesn't peak until like November on AC. ;) Don't even put the idea in my head. With "Breakaway" and "Heaven" still in the TOP 3 after this long, I don't even want to imagine that. But at least it would be a GOOD song being fried to a crisp :) This could be Top 5 by the end of the week, and it has the biggest bullet in the Top 10 by about 150 spins. I honestly think this could make a run for #1, which would be AWESOME, and might actually open AC stations up to some non-sleepy music. Operative word being MIGHT.

Now, I don't care if I never hear neither song again (though I like "Breakaway" a little better, now that I don't hear it on every single radio station.

I felt that way about Picture by Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow a couple of years back. Man, they overplayed that so bad I almost screamed every time I heard it. But it's been a few years and I just heard it on the radio for the first time in a while and I like it again.

LNM has lost it's bullet. It will regain it, with memorial day weekend, and because its the AC chart, just watch.

LNM has lost it's bullet. On the AC chart, that's really not worth reporting.

This should be #1 in about 2 to 3 weeks, very impressive.

I think LNM has a good chance at #1. I hope he can do it while it's still on top of the Hot AC chart. The last time a song topped both Adult charts simultaneously on Billboard was "Only Time" by Enya. On R&R, "The Game of Love" by Santana/Branch is the most recent song to pull that feat.

I think this will unquestionably go #1, and it'll do so by the end of July.
The single soared very quickly into the Top 10, it isn't stale, so it's going to have plenty of staying power especially when a non-AC friendly single, "This Is How A Heart Breaks" is next up, and on top of that, "Breakaway" has been around a lot longer and has had quite a run on top.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Hopefully it hits #1 cuz this song is just hott. Is his album anything like it or is it more rock oriented? I'm curious cuz I want his cd but I don't like rock.

It is not straight up rock, thought. There are 3-4 really nice ballads. The album is all over the place...not really one dominant sound. I suggest going to VH1.com or some other site and listen to some sound clips. I love the album but it isn't for everyone. I think Michael Buble's song will beat Rob to #1 and may hold him off. I hope I'm wrong but he has a really big bullet right now.

27 away from #1!
Of course, next week it may very well be 127 away, but for now, it's looking good.

And missing #1 by just one measly update...
2 1 ROB THOMAS Lonely No More 2155 2031 124 18.522
This could be one of those songs that never make it to #1 on Sunday nights, but frequently reach the position mid-week.

Certainly deserves to reign as #1 for a while. It beats the hell out of anything else AC is playing right now.

LNM is #1 this week on Billboard. I don't know how long he'll stay there but I'm glad he reached the summit. He beat my prediction of #4.

I'm glad for Rob. It's about time we got a better number one. No offense to Michael Buble fans or anything but I think this song is way more deserving and "Breakaway" is old news and needs not be #1 anymore. I love Kelly and all but it's time for some new blood
