I'll stick with Scotty. I just like his more classic sound better. He reminds me of what Danny Gokey has tried to do. Both have good songs and voices but he and Casey are just too pop/bluesy sounding for Country. This needs pushed to the AC format, not Country. Wow, I wouldn't call Keith Urban or Lady A Country either, but they seem to be doing quite well and have brought a ton of new fans to the Coutry Genre.

Well that was unimaginative ...it reminds me of a combination of the Trace/LBB/Julianne Hough video.

I find myself pulling for this more and more each day, I'm hoping it can make the top 20 but it still has a long way to go. Luckily the call out is pretty good so hopefully radio gives it a chance.

28 26 CASEY JAMES Let's Don't Call It ... 1331 1170 161 7.419
This song is picking up some nice momentum over the last week or ten days. I'm really happy to see it; the song's been a grower and Casey's worked hard promoting it. I think I read he's booked back at the Opry in March?
Really hope this can make T20; that would be a great boost for the album that drops 3/20.

Who'd of thought he would be the breakout star from Season 9 of Idol, the series worst season by far. I wonder where he'd be now had he won instead of whose that guys's name...oh Lee, thats it... Aaron Kelly was really the Country singer that year and I've heard he's got something in the works for later this year, even has a potential single on his website. But anyway, its good Season 9 wasn't a total waste.

Terry McBride of McBride & the Ride co-wrote this? Wow.
I'm hearing it a lot lately. This is a very solid song.

^Terry has another co-write on Casey's upcoming album as well, a song called "Love The Way You Miss Me". Just like this single, LTWYMM was written by Terry with Casey and also Brice Long. countrycharttalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1063I'm not sure if Casey has a long-term career in country music but he should at least have a chance, and this does look good to go top 20 in the coming weeks. It just takes patience and a lot of groundwork and promotion to break in an artist, but the wait can be worth it. This song is pretty good...not amazing, but pretty good. Hopefully his other stuff is at least as good if not better. It'll be interesting to see if he turns out like Bucky Covington/Josh Gracin, or if he has a little bit better of a career. Both Bucky and Josh had a couple top 5/10 hits, and this almost certainly won't get that high. But those guys began fading away even before Lyric Street collapsed...Casey has a much stronger label behind him so it will be interesting to see if he remains a presence on country radio.

I'm really happy this looks like It's going to be a top 20 hit, I wasn't the biggest fan of his when he was on the show but I really like this song and am hoping he's successful.
Just thought it'd be interesting to look at all the Idol Alumni who've released songs in Country.
Idol Girls Kelly Clarkson Carmen Rasmusen Kimberly Caldwell Diana DeGarmo Carrie Underwood Kellie Pickler Ayla Brown Haley Scarnato Kristy Lee Cook Mishavonna Henson Lacey Brown Lauren Alaina Baylie Brown
Idol Boys Josh Gracin Bo Bice Taylor Hicks Bucky Covington Phil Stacey Danny Gokey Michael Sarver Casey James Scotty McCreery
A lot more girls and the most successful guy is Josh Gracin he's the one to beat (I guess Scotty can be viewed as more succesful as well)

Yeah but I'd put Bucky 3rd most successful behind Josh and Scotty.
I'd put them in order like so
Josh Gracin Scotty McCreery Bucky Covington Danny Gokey Casey James Phil Stacey Bo Bice Michael Sarver Taylor Hicks

Well this song is going pretty strong. You may have to rework the order by the time its done.
Does anyone other than Carrie have a top 10 on this format?
I didn't think even Pickler did.

Kellie Pickler did with the Taylor Swift penned The Best Days Of Your Life (#9 in 2009). Josh Gracin was first with I Want To Live (#4 in 2004). He became the first American Idol contestant with a #1 in Nothin' To Lose in 2005.

Josh Gracin had a #1 with "Nothing to Lose" and 2 other top 5s with "I Want to Live" and "Stay with Me." Also a top 10 with "We Weren't Crazy." Its a shame he got lost in the lyric street mess. I thought he woulda had a more solid career.

He had a new album out in November "Redemption" on Average Joe's that went nowhere. It was a great CD and was hoping radio would give him some chance with it.

Not to derail this thread entirely, but I think Josh is doing just fine for being on an indie label. I didn't get the album "Redemption", but most labels wouldn't have put that album out at all since he didn't have a radio hit. He might be able to score some hits in the future, but it seems to me that he enjoys where he's at now--he is still playing shows and getting new music out to his fans, and Average Joe's seems like a good fit for him.
As for Casey, I'd like to see this song hit the top 20 and then I'm hoping for "Drive" to follow it, followed by "Crying On A Suitcase". I've been listening to the album for most of the past week and I enjoy pretty much everything about it...to be honest, "Let's Don't Call It A Night" is my least favorite song on it (tho I don't find this song to be bad by any means, just not great). "The Good Life", "Tough Love", "Workin' On It", and "She's Money" would all be solid single choices as well. But I'm thinking I'd like "Drive" next, followed by "Crying On A Suitcase" and then I don't really have a preference for the 4th single, if they were to go that many singles deep.

In addition to Kellie's one Top 10 hit and Josh Gracin's four, Bucky Covington also scored two Top 10 hits from his debut album as well.

Thanks, that's what I get for following the chart sporadically. I guess I only follow it when artists I like are on it. Which is not limited to AI contestants, or obviously, following all AI contestants.

I thought this song flopped, and then I logged onto Billboard and was shocked to see that it's nearly a Top 20 hit? Holy crap. :o
I hate the song, but I was just stunned to see that it actually managed to break through.

I was expecting this one to go recurrent this week, but it has surprised me a bit. Last week was its 35th week on Billboard, and it slipped from #21 (its current peak) to #22, losing its bullet along with 311k AI's, but Billboard gave it a grace week.
Well, it's up a modest 570k on Mediabase over the last 4 days, so it should keep going on Billboard as well. Both Toby Keith and Gloriana got past this one last week, and they're pulling away, but Casey might be able to stay ahead of The Band Perry for another week, and move back up to #21 on Monday, after Jake Owen goes recurrent.
I don't see how this could make it up to #20 yet on Monday, though, as no one else besides Jake looks likely to go recurrent, and Gloriana and Toby will most likely be the last 2 songs in the top 20. So Casey would probably have to wait another week for a couple of songs (Lee Brice, Tim McGraw, and/or Craig Morgan) to maybe finally go recurrent, before he could have a crack at the top 20. If only 1 song were to go recurrent next week as well, Casey would have to hold off The Band Perry for another week. I think he can hold them off this week, but holding them off for an additional week would seem doubtful, so it's quite possible that this song would need 2 songs to go recurrent at the end of next week, for it to jump into the top 20 along with TBP.

Maybe this will make it to #1 in its 355th week...
