"Big Fat Bass," on the surface, has all of the ingredients to be a hit in today's Pop climate: upbeat/dance sound, repetitive (bordering on grating and annoying) hook, a high-profile feature, a "quirky" approach lyrically. It should all add up - but it doesn't. I understand why people would think it would smash, but I never 'got' it. It just doesn't work and would most likely be fairing similarly to this (maybe a bit better).

Gosh! i thought we're "only" lost 3 stations.. i don't understand why the pop panel always add/removed stations every week/month? I heard somewhere once that they do it to radio stations who don't pay their subscription on time or something like that but that just seems silly.

10 year anniversary of 'Britney' 4x platinum (12M WW) Epic VMA performance "I'm a slave for you" Epic singles IASFU, NAG, Overprotected (Slept on classic), and Boys
Known as the transitional album, 'Britney' really was the ultimate litmus test to see if she would be stuck as a sexed up Debbie Gibson or just well 'Britney' She began exploring the urban pop britney. Although many pop stars went urban after her, her take on urban pop is much more memorable and iconic.
1. I'm a slave for you-game changing single and video. The production is so seductive and she totally reinvented herself into someone that started out bubblegum sweet to good girl with a wink to oversexed vixen. This song was ahead of its time and is timeless. Not dated at all. 2. Overprotected-slept on classic. Her rebellious teen angst song where she proclaims that ppl are telling her to be someone else when she just wants to be herself. One of my favorites from her. The remix is okay. The video to the remix makes it tolerable. Love the dance breakdown there. 3. Lonely-I love the rock flares on this track. I really think it would have been perfect for her to release this single after she broke up with Justin but her approach to Everytime was in better taste. Rodney jerkins did a great job on this production. 4. NOt a girl-although cheesy it was a statement that represented that time in her life. Still surprised this was not a hit but it is much more memorable of a song than 'sometimes' or 'from the bottom...' 5. Boys-My favorite track from this record. I wish they would have released the original. Boys completely embodies a definitive sound of 'urban pop' If released at a time where she was not blacklisted from radio this would have been a top 5 hit for sure...with digital sales #1. This song would be played on pop, rhythmic, and possibly urban if she would have added a rent a rapper. 6. Anticipating-very Janet-esque all for you vibe. Still sugary sweet catchy pop. Love the tour performance. 7. I love rock n roll-was never fond of this cover song. It's ok. Next 8. Cinderella-hated this song in the beginning. Hated the fact that her company wanted her to release this and Bombastic love instead of Boys. 9. Let me be-a decent filler song where she shows some rebellion, moody adolescence vibe. 10. Bombastic love-Hated this song at first, like the beat. The breakdown reminds me of Pink's most girls. 11. That's where you take me-sugary sweet catchy song very forgettable. Heard that this was an actual single somewhere. I don't know why 12. What it's like to be me-If britney and justin were still together towards the end I would have loved for this song to be a single. This song defines the era much like not a girl and overprotected...and also cinderella. It's aggressive urban pop and I'm still mad this never was a single.
With radio on board with her that era and digital sales (with remix singles-you know true stans will buy the single and remixes even after purchasing the album) this single line up would have been perfect: Fall 2001 I'm a slave for you top 5 hit, 2-3x platinum Winter 2001/2 Not a girl top 20 hit, 1x platinum Spring 2002 Boys top 3 #1 hit, 2x platinum Summer 2002 What's it's like to be me top 20 platinum hit Fall 2002 Overprotected top 30 platinum hit
Album would have went from 4.9M to 6-7M (12MWW-16-17M WW).
Bonus tracks: I run away...a single that shows a more mature side to her. Great vocals when i found you...great love song but towards the middle she oversings out of her range...ugh. mad love...I actually like the vibe. when i say so...another attitude track, it's dated and doesn't really go anywhere for me. tell me i'm a sinner...it's so weird. I can't even... she'll never be me...HATED THIS SONG at first. I didn't like the MJ vibe or the how weird and nasally her voice was. now I love it. I love the attitude I love her signature stylistic voice and it hasn't got old for me. intimidated...I love this pop-funk sassy track. her voice is very airy but it works before the goodbye...this would have been a game changer if released. It is still an amazing track.

This debuts at #9 on the VH1 top 20 countdown this week. It was the highest of six debuts this week and the only debut to make the top 10.
