^ You are correct. There was a half-assed attempt at releasing "You Don't Belong," but never got pushed or charted.

This is pretty solid, if slightly uninteresting.

This certainly isn't going to do well on Pop or Hot AC, but that's perfectly fine with me. I wish Daughtry made more songs like this one. I'm looking forward to the new album. I know most rock fans think just because Chris was on American Idol that they're very poppy, but honestly I think they're just as post-grungy as Nickelback or TOAD, just without the cock rock.

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure it sounds as good as the "rock" song Nickleback will release so I think Daughtry should/could get a shot at rock. It's not like the format has a slew of big stars on the format any more.

Chris has starpower and can sing but his band really holds him back. Yadda yadda. I know they are all just awesome. I don't hear it in the live setting but when you crank the volume up loud enough you really can't tell. Where I really noticed it was their PBS Soundstage show. I think the band's average musicianship showed up in that setting. Not as bad as Lifehouse but not outstanding either.

I think I disagree with you thoroughly. The label surrounds him with the strongest, tightest musicians available. I haven't seen them live though, so maybe you know something I don't. Are you sure it's their musicianship that's weak rather than their ability to deliver energy in their performance? What about them showed a lack of musicianship?

^ I seen them live, and they seemed to connect very well with each other and put on a great show.

The label surrounds him with the strongest, tightest musicians available. I thought Daughtry was a band that formed organically. Aren't some of these guys people Chris played with before AI? Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought that's what I've been told on here when I questioned them being a "band" versus a hired group of musicians. Rob Thomas tours solo with a "band" that he has put together but they are people he has hired to tour with them. They are quite excellent and have that tight sound live. I thought that live clip I saw of Daughtry the band seemed pretty loose and not in a good way. I wasn't impressed with their Soundstage either. But that's about all that I've seen of them live so maybe I've simply heard bad performances. Who does the guitar solos? Chris? Or is his playing just adequate but looks good? Whatever we all like what we like. They don't impress me but if they do you all, great.

^ I don't think they were the bandmates from before AI. Chris had a different local band formed before. Chris Daughtry and members of his label held auditions for the band.

I know the original band was put together via tryouts held by his label, and a couple members of his band at the time Absent Element tried out but didn't make the cut. Though I know Brian Craddock and Chris had played together prior to AI, and he joined the band when Jeremy Brady left. I don't know much about their new drummer...but I remember hearing Chris originally met the old drummer on Rock Star: INXS, prior to AI. Dude could sing as well.
