I'm glad they decided to move on. I liked LMMD a lot more than some of the people here, but it obviously wasn't really going anywhere, and I think moving on was a wise decision. I'm interested in hearing this in full; after the short Amazon clip I heard, this sounded like one of the weaker tracks on the album, but I am open to being surprised and have that change.

If she has any hope at Country radio, it's with this song!

My local radio station had Georgia Peaches up against Jake Owen's new song last night on their Thursday night song challenge and there was no contest. Georgia Peaches got 100% of the vote!

Completely a function of American Idol voters. An Idol will beat an established country star 90% of the time.
Not a previous fan but I like the snippets I've heard from this album. It seems like a stronger album than Scotty McCreery's (comparing the two Country Idol winners) and she has a lovely voice. Hoping this does better at radio than her first.

Sure voters may have overwhelmingly voted for this song over the new one for Jake Owen at that particular radio station, but its pretty obvious which one is going to be the big hit. Lauren will be lucky if this is even close to as successful as Jake Owen's single. I'm not saying she can't do it, but the odds are certainly against her.

Okay, I get it.
I have hope, however! I really hope it does well, it certainly is a worthy song in my opinion.

Yes thanks, correct. It's almost a given Jake's song will rise faster and higher.
And I don't think the Idol voting is a bad thing in and of itself that Idol fans are voracious voters. Sometimes that only results in bragging rights-but sometimes of course it is beneficial, like on a Video countdown.

This song has great radio appeal and the potential to break Lauren into the Country scene, unlike what LMMD did (or should I say, didn't). Hopefully this will go over well with the general audience. I don't see why it wouldn't because it's very fun and catchy. The "oh-oo-wah-ah-ohs" in the chorus line is pretty entertaining to listen to, and it's not a bad song by any means.
I'm curious to hear how the full recorded version sounds, though. Granted that the live version posted above is great and all, but I wonder if it'll sound differently and change my opinion at all with the recorded version. Hmmm...
Will have to wait to Tuesday to find out. I wish Lauren the very, very best of luck this week, as she deserves it!

It sounds pretty similar, only with more production (obviously). She sounds much less "shouty," too.

I can't wait to hear the whole studio version. Based on the Amazon clip, I wasn't particularly keen on this song, but I hope that the full thing is far better!
I'd love to see her have a hit, but I honestly don't see her making a big splash at country radio. I think she may have a few moderate successes if she's lucking, but I'm not sure I can see her having a real lasting impact. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though and have my fingers crossed.

I agree. I can see her going more of the Kellie Pickler route. I don't think she'll be a Kristy Lee Cooke but definately no Carrie Underwood. Kellie is more a happy medium of the two and I see Lauren in that category. Not cause of Lauren's talent, just cause of like I said in Kellie's "Tough" page...only 3 women are guarenteed success right now (Taylor, Carrie, Miranda), all others are being rejected. There is no good explanation, its just the unfair way the business is right now. Oh how I miss the late 90s!

This shouldn't have any sort of problem going Top 20 as long as the label plays the cards right.

I'm really impressed with her album, there's some great songs on there. Georgia Peaches was an excellent single choice. I hope The Locket ends up being a future single also.

The song that really stood out to me too was "The Locket" which is kinda like a modern version of Collin Raye's "Love Me" story told from a woman's perspective of her grandma. Collin's was man's perspective of his grandpa...similar plotline tho. Its a great song and I'd love it to be a single, but at 5 minutes long radio wouldn't play it unless alot got cut out.

Radio prefers songs to be 3-4 minutes. anything over 4:20 is usually frowned upon unless from a huge star ("Colder Weather" was 4:35 and "Long Hot Summer" was edited from the album 4:33 to something near 4 minutes)

I just bought Lauren's album. Dang it is really good. I really like all the songs. Georgia Peaches is a good song for her 2d single iMO since it is upbeat and catchy. My favorite on the album is Dirt Road Prayer - that song could be a huge hit for Lauren IMO. I hope she does well with her next single and the album because she is one talented 16 year old. I watched the GAC special - introducing Lauren Alaina and she has been singing country music since she was a little girl. She went to Nashville a couple of years ago shopping for a label but was rejected. She writes her own music, this girl is the real deal. I hope she makes it.
