From Billboard:
While Drake's sophomore album is on track for a huge first sales week, his Young Money partner-in-crime, Nicki Minaj, may be releasing her second full-length sooner than expected.
Cash Money co-CEO and founder Brian "Birdman" Williams tells Billboard.com that Minaj, whose debut album "Pink Friday" was released last November, is aiming to have her still-untitled sophomore album out in early 2012. "Nicki's back in the studio, so we're looking to drop Nicki in the first quarter," he says.
Meanwhile, the album's first single could be released to the masses before the calendar rolls around. "Maybe this year? I don't know," says Birdman. "We're really thinking it out. But she's in the studio, and we're looking real soon, because she's ready to go and we're ready to go with her."

Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" for 2011, capping off a year that has seen the hip-hop star top the charts with her massive-selling "Pink Friday" album and, most recently, earn a pair of trophies at the American Music Awards. The Rising Star Award acknowledges Minaj's phenomenal year and will be presented at the Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York City. Billboard's Women in Music 2011 Hub Minaj will be joined at the sixth annual event by Billboard Woman of the Year Taylor Swift, her friend and an early booster through radio interviews and a widely seen concert cameo. "I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard," says Minaj. "My nation of barbz and I have come a mighty long way; yet we are nowhere close to where God will take us. Sit back and enjoy the ride." Much More Minaj • Pics: Her Most Outrageous Wigs • Nicki & Taylor Dominate AMAs She cemented her status as the breakout star of the year early on, when "Pink Friday" helped her become the first female rapper in a decade to top the Billboard 200. Her mega-single, "Super Bass," became a viral sensation and the song reached No. 3 on the Hot 100. The debut album has gone on to sell 1.6 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 28-year-old star, born Onika Tanya Maraj, began releasing mix-tapes in 2007 and later signed with Young Money Entertainment, a label founded by Lil Wayne. She rapped a solo verse on the 2010 hit "BedRock," which reached No. 2 on the Hot 100. "Pink Friday," released in November 2010, has yielded eight singles so far, including "Your Love," "Moment 4 Life" and "Super Bass," which is actually a bonus track on a deluxe edition of the album. On Nov. 20, Minaj cleaned up at the AMAs, earning Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album. Taylor Swift Named Billboard Woman of the Year In being named Billboard's Rising Star, Minaj follows in the footsteps of Jazmine Sullivan (2010), Lady Gaga (2009), and Colbie Caillat, who in 2008 was the first artist ever to be given this honor. "Nicki Minaj has established herself as a force in hip-hop and pop music, and we're thrilled to recognize her accomplishments over the past year by honoring her as this year's Rising Star," says Bill Werde, Billboard's Editorial Director. "Her unique style and powerful sound will undoubtedly lead to a long and lustrous career, and we look forward to seeing where she goes and what she does next." Billboard's annual Women in Music Event, now in its sixth year, celebrates the most powerful and talented women in the music business, coinciding with the publication of Billboard's Women in Music Power Players list. This year's event will be taking place on Friday, Dec. 2 at Capitale in New York City.

I don't think it's been confirmed what it is yet. To me it sounds like it's going to be what The Fame Monster was to The Fame and be a concept piece where Roman does every track.

To me, she should just release a full-length studio album. She has been promoting all year stating that she was going to release a sophomore effort at the top of 2012. If it is an EP...sigh. To me, with her producer's comments and her own comments about the project in mind I would rather a full album so that when she is on tour in the spring/summer she can perform 7-8 songs from both records and do a medley of sorts for her big features as well.

I like it. Roman Nicki is much more interesting than pop wannabe Nicki.

If its another The Fame Monster sitch then I'd imagine we're looking at a body of work that will more than satisfy. I'd rather her expound on the multiple personalities she's introduced a bit more (Dex's latent homosexual tendencies, for example), but more power to her if she wants to capitalize on her most successful alter-ego.
Point being: I am excite.

The official title is "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded". That doesn't sound like a completely new project to me. But I tend to consider the 7-8 track "re-releases" to be new albums anyway. If it isn't a few tracks tagged onto the original album, it's really a new project.

Oh, no. This is probably going to be an EP. Well, Nicki better bring Did it on em,' Roman's Revenge type songs. Maybe it will work to put out an EP and then release a new album in November???

I hope she doesn't do a "Fame Monster" type of deal. It feels like this album has been out forever.

I'd be okay with just an EP. Though I feel like for someone like Nicki, if it's an EP, she won't be focused on it for long. At any given time she's featured on at least a half dozen current singles so they'll always be there and the EP might do her until Q4 2012, unless there's a few massive hits from it.
Whatever it is, I'm very much looking forward to it.

"Pink Friday: ROMAN RELAODED" | Valentines Day| 2012 | Not a Re-Release | ALL new tracks | YMCMB | *salutes the nation* Dead at the misspelling but my wish comes true, per Nicki's twitter. ALL NEW TRACK no re-hash. I'M JUST GONNA SAY AND PUT IT OUT THERE: DREAM LIST -December 1st single released mid-December -1Q 2012 1st single Video -Grammy presenter, performer, and hopefully winner -Album release the same week of the grammy's Award shows: Billboard awards (May), VMAs (Sept), AMAs (November) TV Shows: Ellen, GMA, Letterman, Seacrest, Wendy, American Idol or Xfactor etc. Replays of E true hollywood story Radio: KISS FM, Hot 97, the top radio stations Magazine: Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, RollingStone, Vibe, Blender, Cosmo, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, etc. Tour from March to November: I hope she can recruit a couple of female rappers to open for her (i.e. Eve, trina, missy, etc.) First week sales 500k+ would be amazing. -I'm expecting another #1 album. The only female rapper to have more than 1 #1 album. -I'm expecting at least ONE #1 hot 100 hit -A slew of top 10/20 hot 100 hits (pop, rhythmic, urban radio support) -A slew of multiplatinum singles -Surpassing Pink Friday's record for most consecutive weeks in the Billboard 200 albums for a female rapper (14+ weeks) -The beginnings of her fragrance line, advertisements, possible wig/clothing/jewelry line 2x platinum album...Pink Friday will be certified 2x platinum in 2012. MARK MY WORDS. It's already at 1.6M will probably hit 1.7-8M after christmas and YMCM will make sure it ships 2M. The fans will love it and the h.ater.s WILL DEAL. Muah. I'm ready.

EP's are all new tracks too, no? True. Sigh...just release a full length album Nicki. Well, if she releases an EP I'm hoping we get at least 3 smash singles out of it.

The music industry is moving towards a culture of frequent EP releases. Get used to it. Personally, I'd much rather get yearly EPs where four of eight tracks are potential singles than albums every other year where four out of twelve are single-worthy. If it's between an EP with eight songs in February and an album with 12 in November I'd much rather have the former. Especially in this case as I prefer Roman to Nicki.

Fair enough...I'd rather her release a full length album in February. I don't really see the point of an EP but that's just me. I suspect her twitter posts about them being ALL NEW RELEASES but not clarifying that they are for a studio album makes me believe that they are most likely going the EP.

LOL. Well yes, and I'd like to get full length albums once a month from my faves but you can't just demand it. I'm sure if Nicki had an album ready we'd get it in February, but if there's eight tracks I'd rather get them now than wait longer for her to create some filler just to call it an album.

Still pulling for that full album but we shall see. I think it is reasonable after releasing an album in 2010 to expect a follow up in 2012. Especially when she has been talking about the album since February 2011 and going more and more about the direction since the summer. Her producer Kane beatz or something talked about how selective she is being this time around and she has been working really hard this fall to finalize it. My hope is that they learn from PF so that they release the best songs first and not tack it on a deluxe version. Still would have loved to see 'Muny' or 'Blow ya mind' released instead of Check it out. To me, it did absolutely nothing that the other two couldn't have done better. Oh well, I'll be on the edge of my seat.

She is so disrespectful. Telling Cher to "stop it" after Cher apologized for misunderstanding.

Twitter is one hell of a drug. SB needs to chill out. Nicki wasn't disrespectful IMO. Cher should have done her homework but she is Cher so she can mess up and it is what it is. Who does SB think he is comin for cher. Glad Nicki didn't stoop and shouted out If I could turn back time being one of her favorite songs.

I found the 5-track Body Talk Pt. 3 EP better than nearly all the full length albums I bought last year, and I still play it almost constantly a year later.
So if Nicki wants to go the EP route and give quality with smaller track numbers, then I'm all for it. Rihanna could take a page from that idea too, based on the filler making up the 2nd half of TTT.

Much as it was disrespectful, it was only a matter of time before Cherilyn got dragged up and down Twitter with the nonsense she comes out with, poor woman.

It’s finally happened. Nicki Minaj has her own Barbie doll. Mattel has immortalized the Pink Friday raptress in plastic with a limited edition doll. Billboard reports that Mattel will auction off the one-of-a-kind creation at CharityBuzz.com starting on December 7. The doll, which borrows its look from Nicki’s Pink Friday album cover, will be on display at Divine Design’s five-day gala at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Bidders can take a shot at owning their very own Barbie until December 19, with bids starting at $1,000. Janet Jackson, Carol Channing, and Rachel Zoe have all had one-of-a-kind Barbies auctioned off at the event. All proceeds will benefit Project Angel Food, providing food for those affected by HIV/AIDS. “Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She’s been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times. And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan,” stated Barbie spokeswoman Stefani Yocky. “It’s really exciting for us that she’s been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.” The “Super Bass” rapper, who is being honored with Billboard’s “Rising Star” award, is also working on expanding her Barbie empire. “With her team, we’re all working and in discussions on a fragrance deal,” said Mark Cheatham, a music agent at Creative Artists Agency. “We’re also in discussions with different apparel companies as well. We’re expecting that will make her a mainstream brand.” www.rap-up.com/2011/12/02/nicki-minaj-limited-edition-barbie-doll-to-be-auctioned-for-charity/#more-106202WHO ELSE!?!1?!??!?1??!?!?!
