You would think she would have bigger name producers on her album considering how huge she is. When I think of JR Rotem, I think of Paris Hilton and Britney castoffs. Of course, she calls in the standard Dr Luke & friends and GaGa's go-to guy RedOne but who are those other people? T-Minus is a huge Hip-Hop producer right now. Hit-Boy.... N!ggas in Paris. Nothing else to say right there. Alex da Kid.... We should all know him by his reign in 2010. @popwansel.... Produced Save Me, Muny and Your Love on her 1st album. KANE.... Kane Beatz. Produced Super Bass The others are non-motherf@cking factors. Like really DJ Diamond Kuts. That bish. The quality of the rap portion production fail considerably. I also need to find out who is apart of Pink Friday Productions.

Since we are on the eve of the US release, I'm going to take a moment of silence to worship the Holy Trinity that is Pound The Alarm, Whip It, and Automatic, if anyone else would like to join me...

Wow, she has SO MANY POTENTIAL SMASHES ON THIS ALBUM. Pound the Alarm needs to released ASAP though. Edit: Marilyn Monroe. The best I've ever heard her sing. :o You must not have heard the gut wrenching fireburn.

Am I the only one who thinks the second half, while admittedly catchy, is super bland? Could be any female pop singer. Will be interesting to see how this fares chartwise. She's arguably had a pop hit with Super Bass and now Starships, but the bulk of Pink Friday's sales actually came at a time when she was rather an urban than a pop artist... I don't find it to bland to be honest with you. Even though the beats could be called "generic" I think Nicki brings her own flavor to everything, especially since she's still rapping on all of the pop tracks (with the exception of Automatic). If she was just singing every pop song I could maybe see what you were saying, but I think her rapping makes her different. And she has a very distinct voice.

I felt so guilty because I'm gonna wear them out before it's officially released...

Nonsense, this is quite an album. I'm impressed. The hip-hop half is full of jams, and the pop half is full of dance floor bangers. The last few months have been kind of a mess, the promotion, the interviews, the album concept talk, it was just all over the place. But I gotta say, with the right single choices, she could take this album to great heights, specially with the pop crowd support she'll get if she releases all the smashes she has on the album.

Shockingly I'm actually disappointed with the album. I think it's definitely a step down from Pink Friday and overall it feels a bit disconnected. She needs to officially release Beez In The Trap at some point though.

Whip It is the best on there. Her pop songs are SOOO GOOD but her rap songs are average this time around. I like Come On a Cone, I Am Your Leader, and Champion from the rap portion of her album. Her one true R&B song (Right By My Side) is good too.

After listening to Marilyn Monroe again, It DOES sound like a less catchy version of Behind These Hazel Eyes. EXACT same structure. Gotta love originality of some of these big time producers. As soon as the song started I thought, ahh, this is Nicki's "California King Bed" (although not as ballad-y as that track). I love CKB so for me, this is a good thing. This seems like a no-brainer future single.

I probably will not buy this. Which is shocking for me lol but it is a mess so far listening.
Stupid Hoe is weird on the retail rip. The first second is slightly cut off and it annoys me lol and the single version volume from itunes sounds a lot quieter than the mastered album. so do i want a song that is slightly cut or a song that is quiet lol

It's fine on the CD rip just the iTunes version is screwy. The beginning of certain songs are weirdly sped up at the beginning for like 1 second lol.

Buying this s**t tomorrow!! If it's sh*t, why are you buying it? LOL. The consumer/collector/completist in me will certainly be purchasing this. I only listened to the clips once and don't recall what they sound like. Even "Starships" has only entered my eardrums 2 or 3 times (I don't listen to the radio) so everything will be fresh to me. If I REALLY don't like the CD, I'm sure I can find someone to gift it to.

Great album. Right now I'm obsessed with 'Roman Holiday', 'Come On A Cone', 'Starships', 'Pound The Alarm', 'Marilyn Monroe', 'Va Va Voom', and 'Masquerade'.

I can't wait to get this tomorrow! I haven't listened to the album as a whole, only the 6 or 7 singles that have come out.

While Cash Money is passing out record contracts, they need to slide one to Cam'Ron. He's the highlight of I Am Your Leader to me.

Cam'Ron usually IS a highlight. Nicki was smart to invite him on the record, if indeed it was her idea. Saw that Metacritic score. Didn't PF get in the mid 60s at least? I can't say I'm surprised though. Either way, I plan on picking it up but it will have to wait til I get back from my business trip. No Best Buy in White Plains and I'm not paying 17 bucks for the deluxe at Target. Newbury Comics is selling it for $12.88 (the deluxe), which is good. As much as Turn Me On grew on me, I feel that if Onika wanted to keep the pop songs so badly, she should have at least kept it pop-rap and even then, kept it to one "Starships" instead of "Starships" and its bastard children. How many retreads does one need on the same album?? Turn Me On could have stayed on Guetta's album. Enough people that want the song already have it, whether it's from DG's album or from downloads. Lastly, I'm a little confused about the message she is sending with Marilyn Monroe. So, she identifies with a rich, pill-popping White woman who was passed around by several high-powered men? She has already alienated a chunk of her original fan base when she started courting pop but who among her legions of teenybopping Barbies can relate to Marilyn Monroe?

..but what's a Metacritic. A website that compiles all major reviews (as well as lesser ones) in aggregate and then does an average to come up with a score. Do your homework. ;)

While I don't always agree with the critics, they ain't just whistlin' dixie with this album and therefore, I'm not so quick to discount them. That said, it's not like reviews always equal sales. In fact, usually quite the opposite. Critically lauded albums and their related artists seem to be ignored generally by the plebeians. I think Nicki would have fared well under a Communist regime.

I'll be picking this up today. I have a love/hate relationship with metacritic. On one hand, they combine the reviews of a bunch of reviewers for an average score, which is always good, but on the other hand, no matter how good an album is it'll still get good and bad reviews. Most everything is in the 50s-low 70s range so unless it's higher or lower than that, the score seems to mean nothing. And then there's the idea that critics tend to vote unfavourably for pop-centric albums and almost always favorably toward indie releases, which had made me question their reliability for anything mainstream. So when it comes to pop albums, I take them with a grain of salt.

What brought her down was the review from Slant but that metacritic score is only based on four reviews. The score may change once more reviews come in. Perhaps we should wait a little bit longer to see how things pan out. Though I think it will stay in the mixed reviews range but hopefully higher than 43.
