Commentary
Luke Combs spends a second and probably final week at #1 with another mega smash in “She Got The Best of Me", label mate Chris Young should fill in the gap with the mega dud of a hit in “Hangin On”. Jimmie Allen inches ever so closer to his first #1 with his debut single “Best Shot”. “Blue Tacoma” has really slowed down in falling and as such stays put at #4 for the second straight week. Maren Morris or Kane Brown will round out the Top 5 with “Rich” or “Lose It” respectively.
Chris Janson hangs in there at #7. He recently co hosted CCUSA so I imagine the label will let go of this song in the next couple of weeks, and they are probably aiming for a Top 5 peak. Another song that is probably aiming for a Top 5 peak is the latest single from Garth Brooks as “All Day Long” has really came to a halt but is now just outside the Top 10 and I think a Top 10 is doable. Big hits from both Mitchell Tenpenny and Dan + Shay should enter the Top 10. Both look like virtual locks for the #1 spot, with Dan + Shay being theorized for the Holiday slowdown #1 position.
Solid weeks for Kip Moore, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley/Brothers Osborne, and Chris Stapleton. Thomas Rhett should enter the Top 20 this week although I doubt he will be at #16 this week and I don't think he will be next week which I am not gonna lie I am kinda bitter about. Also Dustin Lynch enters the Top 20 with a great week for “Good Girl” as Dustin Lynch is at Week 26 now. Unfortunately in less good news, both Eric Church especially and less so Sugarland/Taylor Swift are in trouble. I do think “Babe” MIGHT be able to make the Top 10, but Eric Church is on life support at this point it seems like.
Luke Bryan has a great chance blast into the Top 30 with his new single “What Makes You Country” along with the slowest moving Cou Johnson with “On My Way to You”. Riley Green looks to be the only one in the 20s who will stay put in position as both Scotty McCreery and Jason Aldean should pass him as both have great weeks, particularly Scotty McCreery.
Old Dominion continues to move great considering the fact that they don't go for adds til next week. Carrie Underwood has a very slow week and Brett Young stayed put in gains with “Here Tonight”. Rodney Atkins should enter the Top 40 for the first time in 5 years. I do have doubts “Caught Up In The Country” can make the Top 30 but this song is like a cockroach.
The songs from Maddie & Tae, Randy Houser/Hillary Lindsey, and Granger Smith continue to rack up the weeks while moving very slowly. Meanwhile Brandon Lay is starting to run out of energy and could leave the chart before the end of the year.
Finally in the 50s looks like we could have a triple shot of female debuts/re-entries as Kelsea Ballerini had a great week and looks to have really surged and could easily make the Top 50 next week pretty easily. Runaway June had a little spark lit in “I Can Buy My Own Drinks” and is looking to re enter the chart. Finally Lauren Alaina had a solid week and could sneak into debut, I do think Walker Hayes has a chance to stay on the chart but I suspect Lauren Alaina is comfortably out gaining him and did just enough for "Ladies In The 90s" to debut.
