^ Quite the strong debut for LBT. Hope that is indicative of the success that Pontoon will ultimately achieve down the road. ;)

Dropping Off: Lee Brice's "A Woman Like You", Lady Antebellum's "Dancin' Away With My Heart", and Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open"
Comments:
Jason Aldean will cruise to his 7th Billboard #1 hit tomorrow with "Fly Over States", bumping last week's #1, Miranda Lambert's "Over You", back to #2. Meanwhile, Kip Moore's "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck" is pedal to the medal and should surge into the top 3, looking to replace Jason at #1 next week. The Zac Brown Band will hold at #4 as Kip goes on by. Look for Carrie Underwood to sneak into the top 5, with Eric Church in pursuit. Tim McGraw should move up a couple more spots, while Luke Bryan and Brantley Gilbert move into the top 10. Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw's duet "Feel Like A Rock Star" should move up to #11, but will likely be held out of the top 10 as I think Brantley Gilbert will edge ahead. A pair of top 10 songs from last week--Lady A's "Dancin' Away With My Heart" and Lee Brice's "A Woman Like You"--will go recurrent. There's a slight chance that Andy Gibson's top 30 debut single "Wanna Make You Love Me" could join them, but I'll say he gets a grace week.
Anyway, Toby Keith's "Beers Ago" continues to move up fairly quickly and should climb several more spots into the top 15. Chris Cagle and Craig Morgan continue to hang in there with their comeback singles--Cagle's "Got My Country On" will be in week #37 on the chart, and Morgan's "This Ole Boy" will be in week #42. For Craig, it looks like he'll get the job done and sneak into the top 15 at last. It could be that that's what he and his label were hoping for, and his song may begin falling in the coming days. I think Chris Cagle will probably stick around a bit, with his album not due out until late June.
Look for the red hot Dierks Bentley to enter the top 20 with "5-1-5-0". Jana Kramer will also pick up her first top 20 hit with "Why Ya Wanna". Meanwhile, Love And Theft's "Angel Eyes" has caught fire and should jump up several more spots this week, though superstar Keith Urban's "For You" is coming up pretty quickly as well. Alan Jackson's "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" is looking a little better and should bounce back into the top 30. Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" continues to move up rather well while it sells even better. Hunter should round out the top 30.
Ronnie Dunn continues to find the going tough, with Easton Corbin potentially moving ahead, while Josh Thompson, Chris Young, and Ronnie's former duo partner Kix Brooks all coming up from below. George Strait should pick up his 96th top 40 hit, as "Drinkin' Man" looks set to jump up about 4 or 5 spots and easily into the top 40. Also potentially moving into the top 40 will be "Over", the latest from Blake Shelton. That one should finish about neck and neck with Justin Moore's slower-moving "'Til My Last Day" for the last top 40 spot. Meanwhile, newcomers Greg Bates, Edens Edge, and Kristen Kelly continue to do pretty good, while JT Hodges and Martina McBride continue to struggle. Scotty McCreery and Jon Pardi should both pick up a few more spots. And, fresh off his first #1 hit (as a singer), Lee Brice could be looking at an impressive top 50 bow for his new single "Hard To Love". Randy Houser should also bound up several spots this week, while Tyler Farr and James Wesley continue to struggle.
As I said earlier, I'm expecting 2 top 10 songs from last week (Lady A & Lee) to go recurrent. Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open" also looks like it should drop off. Lee's "Hard To Love" will replace "A Woman Like You", and I think Lady A's "Wanted You More" will replace their old single "Dancin' Away With My Heart" as well, though Lady A looks likely to debut toward the very bottom of the chart, as opposed to Lee's potential top 50 debut. Finally, for the 3rd opening, I'll go with Jake Owen's "The One That Got Away". Other possibilities include Rascal Flatts' "Come Wake Me Up", Jaida Dreyer's "Guy's Girl", Bucky Covington's "I Wanna Be That Feeling", Eric Paslay's "If The Fish Don't Bite", and Pat Green's "All Just To Get To You".

1) Kip Moore – “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” 2) Jason Aldean – “Fly Over States” 3) Zac Brown Band – “No Hurry” 4-5) Carrie Underwood – “Good Girl” 4-5) Eric Church – “Springsteen” 6) Luke Bryan – “Drunk On You” 7) Tim McGraw – “Better Than I Used To Be” 8) Miranda Lambert – “Over You” 9) Brantley Gilbert – “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” 10) Eli Young Band – “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” 11-12) Toby Keith – “Beers Ago” 11-12) Chris Cagle – “Got My Country On” 13) Josh Turner – “Time Is Love” 14-15) Gloriana – “(Kissed You) Good Night” 14-15) The Band Perry – “Postcard From Paris” 16-17) Dierks Bentley – “5-1-5-0” 16-17) Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw – “Feel Like A Rock Star” 18) Jana Kramer – “Why Ya Wanna?” 19-20) Keith Urban – “For You” 19-20) Love & Theft – “Angel Eyes” 21-22) Dustin Lynch – “Cowboys And Angels” 21-22) The Farm – “Home Sweet Home” 23) Kenny Chesney – “Come Over” [NEW!] 24) Thomas Rhett – “Something To Do With My Hands” 25) Thompson Square – “Glass” 26) Andy Gibson – “Wanna Make You Love Me” 27-28) Kelly Clarkson – “Mr. Know It All” 27-28) Alan Jackson – “So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore” 29) Easton Corbin – “Lovin’ You Is Fun” 30-31) Blake Shelton – “Over” 30-31) Hunter Hayes – “Wanted” 32) Chris Young – “Neon” 33-35) Kix Brooks (featuring Joe Walsh) – “New To This Town” 33-35) Josh Thompson – “Comin’ Around” 33-35) Phil Vassar – “Don’t Miss Your Life” 36-37) Ronnie Dunn – “Let The Cowboy Rock” (last week) 36-37) Jerrod Niemann – “Shinin’ On Me” 38-39) Justin Moore – “’Til My Last Day” 38-39) George Strait – “Drinkin’ Man” 40) David Nail – “The Sound Of A Million Dreams” 41-44) Greg Bates – “Did It For The Girl” 41-44) Edens Edge – “Too Good To Be True” 41-44) Lady Antebellum – “Wanted You More” 41-44) Lee Brice – “Hard To Love” 45-46) Little Big Town – “Pontoon” 45-46) Kristen Kelly – “Ex-Old Man” 47) JT Hodges – “Goodbyes Made You Mine” 48) Randy Houser – “How Country Feels” 49-51) Josh Abbott Band – “Touch” 49-51) Scotty McCreery – “Water Tower Town” 49-51) Jon Pardi – “Missin’ You Crazy” 52-53) Jake Owen – “The One That Got Away” 52-53) Miranda Lambert – “Fastest Girl In Town” [NEW!] 54-55) Montgomery Gentry – “So Called Life” 54-55) Kellie Pickler – “100 Proof” 56-59) Matt Stillwell – “Ignition” 56-59) Darryl Worley – “You Still Got It” 56-59) Tyler Farr – “Hot Mess” 56-59) James Wesley – “Walking Contradiction” 60) Rascal Flatts – “Come Wake Me Up” [NEW!]
Dropping Off: Rascal Flatts' "Banjo", Craig Morgan's "This Ole Boy", and Martina McBride's "Marry Me" (featuring Pat Monahan)
Comments:
Jason Aldean has held strong for most of the week, but Kip Moore's red hot breakthrough hit "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck" should seal the deal and take over the top spot, having chased Jason down. Look for the Zac Brown Band to move up to #3, with Carrie Underwood and Eric Church rounding out the top 5. Luke Bryan's summertime hit "Drunk On You" should move up 3 spots to #6, continuing its strong and impressive run up the chart. Brantley Gilbert should move up a bit after a huge week, and the Eli Young Band's "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" is poised to round out the top 10--it will be just their 2nd top 10 hit, but it seems as if last year's #1 hit "Crazy Girl" has really gotten the ball rolling for the Texas group.
Look for Toby Keith and Chris Cagle to close in on the top 10, with Josh Turner, Gloriana, and The Band Perry all moving into the top 15, thanks to Craig Morgan's "This Ole Boy" likely set to join Rascal Flatts' "Banjo" in recurrent-land. Also, BNA has moved on from the Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw duet--look for "Feel Like A Rock Star" to drop to the lower part of the top 20. Dierks Bentley, meanwhile, is headed in the opposite direction, with "5-1-5-0" on a roll up the chart. Keith Urban's "For You" should surge into the top 20, and he'll likely be joined by Love & Theft's "Angel Eyes", which continues to move up nicely.
Dustin Lynch and Thomas Rhett continue to show strong signs as each should climb up a few more spots this week. Meanwhile, Kenny Chesney will score a red hot debut with new single "Come Over", poised to debut as high as #23. Blake Shelton's new single "Over" should also see a big move this week and could sneak into the top 30, though he may have some competition from Hunter Hayes' "Wanted". Alan Jackson has had another slow week, but is still hanging in there; however, Easton Corbin is picking up the pace and closing in.
Ronnie Dunn's "Let The Cowboy Rock" has peaked and will fall back several spots in its last chart week. Jerrod Niemann and Justin Moore have had big weeks and should gain a few spots, while King George has slowed to a crawl and will likely slip back a couple of spots. Greg Bates and Edens Edge continue to move up pretty nicely just outside the top 40, but superstar trio Lady Antebellum is closing in, and Lee Brice is also off to a great start with "Hard To Love". Little Big Town's "Pontoon" and Randy Houser's "How Country Feels" have also had pretty good weeks and should pick up a few spots each. David Nail, JT Hodges, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Kellie Pickler, Tyler Farr, and James Wesley, however, all continue to struggle to move up.
I am guessing that Martina McBride's "Marry Me" will also go recurrent, though there's a slight chance it could re-bullet. Look for Jake Owen's "The One That Got Away" to begin its climb, while Miranda Lambert's "Fastest Girl In Town" is set for a nice debut thanks to plenty of early spins from KEEY & KMNB in Minneapolis and also KMLE in Phoenix. Rascal Flatts' "Come Wake Me Up" may sneak on to the bottom of the chart, though the trio could have some competition from Jaida Dreyer or Bucky Covington for that last chart spot.

So ridiculous the way Kenny's songs get so much praise at country radio. Nothing outstanding about CO to me.

^ Nice to see Miranda's new single debuting so far ahead of an official release. I'm predicting it will be her fourth No. 1 hit, and it seems radio is eager to make it one! ;)

Looks like it's housecleaning time on Billboard again, finally. Really, I'm not sure why all the old songs decide to drop in the same week, but oh well, the chart has needed a jolt for a few weeks now and it's gonna get it on Monday Tuesday evening's 6/9 chart (chart won't come out 'til then, since Monday is a holiday).
Miranda Lambert's "Over You", Chris Cagle's "Got My Country On", Craig Morgan's "This Ole Boy", Andy Gibson's "Wanna Make You Love Me", and Ronnie Dunn's "Let The Cowboy Rock" all appear set for recurrent-land, and James Wesley's "Walking Contradiciton" could join them. So that will make for 5, maybe 6 open spots. Big & Rich will easily take the Hot Shot Debut, and I expect The Mavericks' "Born To Be Blue" to make its way on to the chart as well. Tough to guess on the others, but I'd say Rodney Atkins' "Just Wanna Rock 'N' Roll" will debut, as it was sent out to radio at the beginning of the week, and we could see Jessie James' "Military Man" maybe getting on. I also think Lionel Richie will have a good chance to pick up a chart entry with "Deep River Woman", a #10 hit for him back in 1987 with Alabama. The new version has Little Big Town on it, and it had 428k last week, just 12k short of #60. His "Stuck On You" duet with Darius Rucker is also a possibility. Finally, Bucky Covington and Due West could also be possibilities.

I'm so happy that they're all falling on the same week, felt like we needed this cleaning for a while now.

^I do kinda like it when some songs make big jumps, but at the same time, this could mean hardly any movement on the 6/16 chart, since I don't know if Jason's "Fly Over States" will fall far enough to go recurrent. Oh well... This does help out a LOT of songs that haven't been moving much. But there are still a few really struggling: Alan Jackson and George Strait aren't making a lot of noise on what would be an opportune time to move up (AJ may pick up a couple spots and set a new peak at least), Josh Thompson, Phil Vassar, and Scotty McCreery aren't doing much, and 3 of my favorites--David Nail, JT Hodges, and Kellie Pickler--are really struggling. But a lot of other good songs should see big jumps. Easton Corbin, Kix Brooks, Jerrod Niemann, Lee Brice, Jake Owen, Kristen Kelly, and also Thompson Square should each move up a handful of spots. And of course the biggest jumpers will be Blake, Lady A, and Rascal Flatts.

I was out of town last weekend for a wedding, but will have predictions up again either tonight or tomorrow.
Anyway, I was looking through everything and we'll have 3 definite recurrents and maybe 2 more. Miranda's "Over You", Andy Gibson's "Wanna Make You Love Me", and Kenny/Tim's "Feel Like A Rock Star" will leave for sure.
Right now, David Nail's "The Sound Of A Million Dreams" is up only 30k, but he was bullet-less for the last 2 weeks on Billboard and will lose his CT40 spins this weekend. I think that could be enough to knock him negative, and only a small drop would send him recurrent. Kellie Pickler's "100 Proof" has also been bullet-less for 2 weeks so it may or may not go--hard to say with this one.
Anyway, that makes for at least 3 openings with a good chance at 4 or even 5. I think The Mavericks will take 1 spot, and Jaida Dreyer should be able to re-enter. Bucky Covington might debut, but after him, I'm having trouble finding any other likely candidates. I don't think Rodney Atkins will get in until next week. We could see Taylor's "Eyes Open" re-enter for a very brief stint. Perhaps more likely would be 1 or 2 Lionel Richie tracks, though. "Stuck On You" with Darius Rucker missed the #60 spot by 0.003 million AI's last week and is up 2 spins at WUSN Chicago this week. "You Are" with Blake Shelton had 213k on BB last week but is down 2 spins in Chicago, so maybe "Deep River Woman" with Little Big Town" (up 1 spin) could sneak on the chart?
All depends on how many openings. Maybe David and Kellie will somehow hang on. I guess, if I had to order the debut/re-entering candidates in order from most likely to least likely, I'd go with The Mavericks and Jaida Dreyer, followed by Bucky Covington, Lionel/Darius "Stuck On You", & Lionel/LBT "Deep River Woman", followed by Taylor's "Eyes Open", Lionel/Blake "You Are", and Rodney Atkins. I don't think Craig Morgan, Casey James, Miss Willie Brown, Katie Armiger, Steve Holy, Maggie Rose, or Hank Williams, Jr. will have enough audience to chart.

Dropping Off: Miranda Lambert's "Over You", Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw's "Feel Like A Rock Star", Andy Gibson's "Wanna Make You Love Me", David Nail's "The Sound Of A Million Dreams", and Kellie Pickler's "100 Proof"
Comments:
We're entering one of those weeks where we've got a lot of big songs trying to all fit in the top 10, and several other new songs off to promising starts all trying to fit into the top 40. There will be a few recurrents to shake things up a bit, but oddly enough, not too many songs seem to be eager to debut or get back into the top 60, so it was a bit of work to come up with 60 songs for the chart. Anyway...
After laboring through the top 10, Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl" turns on the jets this week in a sprint to the top, easily surging past the Zac Brown Band's "No Hurry" (out of gas), Eric Church's "Springsteen" (waiting for next week), and Kip Moore's "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck" (falling after 2 strong weeks at the top). Eric Church does look in line to take over #1 next week, with Luke Bryan's big hit "Drunk On You" in line after that. Tim McGraw's "Better Than I Used To Be" continues to hang in there and inch its way toward the top 5, but Brantley Gilbert is closing in, and the Eli Young Band is also off to the races. Look for Toby Keith's "Beers Ago" to sneak into the top 10, with Dierks Bentley's "5-1-5-0" comin up fast. There will be an unusually large audience gap between #10 Toby and the 9 songs ahead of him.
Meanwhile, Gloriana continues to move up strongly as they close in on their first top 10 hit. The trio will have to forfeit one spot to Kenny's turbo-charged "Come Over" soon, however. Josh Turner continues to move up very slowly, with Keith Urban closing in. I've got The Farm sneaking in at #20, though Thompson Square's "Glass" is picking up steam fast and could challenge for a spot in the top 20.
Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and Easton Corbin should each pick up a few more spots this week, while Alan Jackson continues to climb slowly but is hanging in there. Big & Rich has had a strong 2nd week on the chart--they will still lose their bullet thanks to last week Tuesday's Clear Channel-sponsored artificial debut, but "That's Why I Pray" should remain firmly planted in the top 30 thanks to some big gains over the past few days. Chris Young's "Neon" is finally showing some life and should surge into the top 30 this week, along with Hunter Hayes' "Wanted". The last top 30 spot looks to be up for grabs between Lady Antebellum's "Wanted You More" and Lee Brice, who's off to an excellent start with "Hard To Love".
Jerrod Niemann should move up a couple spots, while George Strait and Justin Moore continue to struggle. Meanwhile, Greg Bates has had an explosive week and should blast into the top 40 along with the latest from Rascal Flatts, "Come Wake Me Up". Little Big Town's "Pontoon" and Jake Owen's "The One That Got Away" will likely be contending for the last top 40 spot.
As noted above, several songs will drop off the chart this week, including Miranda, Kenny/Tim, and Andy Gibson. There's a slight chance David Nail could hang on, but I'll say he leaves. The same goes for Kellie Pickler. That should allow some of the songs in the 40's and 50's to move up, but this is an odd week where virtually no songs from below the top 60 have jumped up much in audience. I do expect The Mavericks to debut, probably as the Hot Shot Debut, but after them it's anyone's guess. I'll go with Jaida Dreyer's "Guy's Girl" and Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open" re-entering, and I think we could see an appearance or two from Lionel Richie (and thus, a duet partner or two), most likely with "Stuck On You". Bucky Covington might also squeak in, while Rodney Atkins and Katie Armiger are other possibilities but I'll guess they have to wait until next week.

6/16/12 Billboard Chart Highlights:
*** No. 1 *** "Good Girl" Carrie Underwood Greatest Gainer No. 13 "Come Over" Kenny Chesney Hot Shot Debut No. 54 "Born To Be Blue" The Mavericks Debut No. 59 "I Wanna Be That Feeling" Bucky Covington Debut No. 60 "Deep River Woman" Lionel Richie With Little Big Town
Got Kenny right at #13 (I had him projected to be 150k behind #12 Gloriana), The Mavericks at #54, and *almost* nailed the bottom 2 spots...Lionel Richie & Bucky just flip-flopped, and instead of "Stuck On You" with Darius Rucker, it was "Deep River Woman" with LBT that managed to sneak on the chart. Those bottom few songs are probably only gonna be in the 200-250k range, maybe a tad less, which is quite low.
3 Debuts for sure, and I'll bet Jaida Dreyer re-entered. That'd likely be bad news for either David Nail or Kellie Pickler, since we know Miranda, Kenny/Tim, and Andy Gibson left. If Taylor's "Eyes Open" also re-entered, then it is probably trouble for both David and Kellie, as I doubt anyone else (Matt Stillwell, Due West, etc) fell off.

Glad to see Carrie snag her #1 after all, and to see both Bucky and LBT's duet w/ Lionel Richie debut! Sad that David Nail and/or Kellie Pickler may have left though, as they are two of my absolute favorites.

Dropping Off: Jason Aldean's "Fly Over States", JT Hodges' "Goodbyes Made You Mine", & Lionel Richie's "Deep River Woman" (ft. Little Big Town)
Comments:
After a strong climb up the chart, Eric Church's "Springsteen" will land at #1 this week--the song is already Platinum and in another time may have scored a few weeks at #1, but it may be tough for it to last much more than 1 week, with labelmate Luke Bryan and his white hot summer smash "Drunk On You" waiting in the wings and poised to land at #2. Brantley Gilbert's "You Don't Know Her Like I Do" has also caught fire and should blast up to #3. Look for last week's #1 hit, Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl", to drop a couple spots to #4. The #5 spot is up for grabs between Tim McGraw's "Better Than I Used To Be"--a song running on fumes--and the Eli Young Band's "Even If It Breaks Your Heart"--a song that's climbing quickly and looks to be a future #1 contender. If the EYB sneaks by Tim this week, he'll probably be held to a #6 peak--essentially, tomorrow's chart looks like Tim's last crack at a top 5 peak.
Look for the Zac Brown Band's "No Hurry" to drop towards the bottom of the top 10, after an unfortunate #2 peak. The peak itself is good, but it's a bummer that they came so close to tying Rodney Crowell's record of 5 Billboard #1's from one album, and couldn't quite pull it off. They're moving on to a new album now, with their next single "The Wind" set to debut strongly in the top 30, albeit with one Clear Channel-inflated day. Anyway, back to top 10 action...Kip Moore will spend one more week on the chart, while Toby Keith's "Beers Ago" will move up a bit as it has picked up some steam. Dierks Bentley and Gloriana look to be in a shootout for the last top 10 spot, with Kenny Chesney closing in pretty quickly.
The Band Perry and Josh Turner continue to move up a bit more slowly than the songs around them, while Keith Urban slowly closes in as his latest, "For You", should crash the top 15. Picking up some steam again are Love & Theft's "Angel Eyes", Jana Kramer's "Why Ya Wanna", and Dustin Lynch's "Cowboys And Angels". Look for Blake Shelton's latest, "Over", to surge into the top 20, joined by Thompson Square's "Glass", which has put together a nice string of weekly gains.
Kelly Clarkson and Easton Corbin should move a bit closer to the top 20, but Hunter Hayes and Big & Rich are closing in, plus the aforementioned new ZBB single "The Wind" should blast on to the chart close to the top 25 and will no doubt move up very quickly in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Alan Jackson has had another pretty good week but unfortunately will likely be pushed back a couple of spots, with the hot-selling "Wanted" from Hayes and the hot starters Big & Rich and the Zac Brown Band all set to move ahead. Lady Antebellum continues to move up a bit more slowly than we're accustomed to seeing from them, while Chris Young continues to move very slowly.
Rascal Flatts should close in on the top 30 after a pretty strong week for "Come Wake Me Up". Also on the move are Lee Brice's "Hard To Love" and Jerrod Niemann's "Shinin' On Me", with both making progress toward the top 30 this week as well. Josh Thompson, Phil Vassar, Kix Brooks, and George Strait, however, all continue to move quite slowly. Little Big Town's "Pontoon" has had a big week and should move up a few spots, while Justin Moore continues to inch along and will likely be competing with Greg Bates and Jake Owen for the last 2 spots in the top 40.
Not a lot of noise to talk about below the top 40, with Miranda Lambert's "Fastest Girl In Town" still not officially at radio and only picking up some unsolicited airplay, while Scotty McCreery and Montgomery Gentry are having a bit of trouble following up recent hits. With only a couple of recurrents (Jason Aldean & JT Hodges) and the new ZBB single set to take 1 of those spots, we may only have 1-2 other debuts. Katie Armiger's "Better In A Black Dress" looks like the best bet (besides ZBB of course), and she could come in somewhere in the mid 50's. Rodney Atkins' "Just Wanna Rock 'N' Roll" might also be able to sneak in if he can bump off Lionel Richie or Jaida Dreyer. Other possibilities include Craig Morgan's "Corn Star", Trace Adkins' "Them Lips (On Mine)", Casey James' "Crying On A Suitcase", Andy Gibson's "Summer Back", and, yes, The Band Perry's rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner".

Didn't make any predictions, as I was on vacation for the weekend. In regards to new songs on the chart, I think there could be 3-4. I'll go with Casey James' "Crying On A Suitcase" as the best debut but I also think Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" will make an early Billboard appearance. The others might be tougher to guess. Craig Morgan or Trace Adkins could be possibilities, or even the Alan Jackson/Zac Brown duet "Dixie Highway" if it still got a decent amount of unsolicited airplay this past week. I was thinking that Jaida Dreyer would probably fall off, and possibly Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open" as well, in addition to the obvious recurrents of Kip Moore's SBAT and the ZBB's NH.

Here are my predictions for tomorrow's 7/7/12 Billboard chart! :)
1) Luke Bryan – “Drunk On You” 2) Eli Young Band – “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” 3-4) Brantley Gilbert – “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” 3-4) Eric Church – “Springsteen” 5) Dierks Bentley – “5-1-5-0” 6) Kenny Chesney – “Come Over” 7) Gloriana – “(Kissed You) Good Night” 8) Toby Keith – “Beers Ago” 9) Tim McGraw – “Better Than I Used To Be” (last week) 10) The Band Perry – “Postcard From Paris” 11) Josh Turner – “Time Is Love” 12) Love & Theft – “Angel Eyes” 13) Keith Urban – “For You” 14-15) Blake Shelton – “Over” 14-15) Jana Kramer – “Why Ya Wanna?” 16) Dustin Lynch – “Cowboys And Angels” 17) Thompson Square – “Glass” 18-19) Zac Brown Band – “The Wind” 18-19) Thomas Rhett – “Something To Do With My Hands” 20-21) The Farm – “Home Sweet Home” 20-21) Hunter Hayes – “Wanted” 22) Kelly Clarkson – “Mr. Know It All” 23-24) Easton Corbin – “Lovin’ You Is Fun” 23-24) Big & Rich – “That’s Why I Pray” 25) Little Big Town – “Pontoon” 26-27) Alan Jackson – “So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore” (grace week) 26-27) Lady Antebellum – “Wanted You More” 28) Chris Young – “Neon” 29) Rascal Flatts – “Come Wake Me Up” 30) Lee Brice – “Hard To Love” 31-32) Kix Brooks (featuring Joe Walsh) – “New To This Town” 31-32) Jerrod Niemann – “Shinin’ On Me” 33) Josh Thompson – “Comin’ Around” (grace week) 34) Phil Vassar – “Don’t Miss Your Life” 35) Miranda Lambert – “Fastest Girl In Town” 36-38) Greg Bates – “Did It For The Girl” 36-38) Jake Owen – “The One That Got Away” 36-38) Justin Moore – “’Til My Last Day” 39) George Strait – “Drinkin’ Man” 40) Edens Edge – “Too Good To Be True" 41-42) Randy Houser – “How Country Feels” 41-42) Kristen Kelly – “Ex-Old Man” 43) Jon Pardi – “Missin’ You Crazy” 44) Scotty McCreery – “Water Tower Town” 45) Casey James – “Crying On A Suitcase” 46) Montgomery Gentry – “So Called Life” 47-50) Aaron Lewis – “Endless Summer” 47-50) Carrie Underwood – “Blown Away” 47-50) The Mavericks – “Born To Be Blue” 47-50) Darryl Worley – “You Still Got It” 51) Jessie James – “Military Man” 52-54) Katie Armiger – “Better In A Black Dress” 52-54) Due West – “Things You Can’t Do In A Car” 52-54) Rodney Atkins – “Just Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll” 55-57) Matt Stillwell – “Ignition” 55-57) Trace Adkins – “Them Lips (On Mine)” 55-57) Eric Church – “Creepin’” [NEW!] 58-60) Craig Morgan – “Corn Star” 58-60) Kip Moore – “Beer Money” [NEW!] 58-60) Maggie Rose – “I Ain’t Your Mama” [NEW!]
Dropping Off: Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl", Bucky Covington's "I Wanna Be That Feeling", and The Band Perry's "Star Spangled Banner"
Comments:
It's looking like one of those weeks where we might not see many songs leaving the chart. Carrie's "Good Girl" should be the easy recurrent, and there's a slight chance that Alan Jackson or even Josh Thompson could leave, but I'll say they get grace weeks or maybe even manage to hang on to their bullets. A couple of new releases are starting to build audience so we may see some songs from that 55-60 range drop off (at least for this week) to let some new songs into the top 60.
Anyway, after 2 weeks at #1, look for Eric Church's "Springsteen" to cede the top spot to labelmate Luke Bryan and his huge summer smash "Drunk On You". The Eli Young Band looks set to blast up to #2 with "Even If It Breaks Your Heart", while Brantley Gilbert looks like he could be out of gas. Dierks Bentley continues to roll right along and should take "5-1-5-0" into the top 5, though Kenny Chesney's "Come Over" has had a bigger week and is once again closing in. Gloriana should pass Toby Keith and set a new peak of #7, with the "Beers Ago" singer settling for #8. Look for The Band Perry to pick up their 4th straight top 10 hit with "Postcard From Paris", while Josh Turner, Love & Theft, and Keith Urban all move closer to the top 10.
Blake Shelton is on a roll (again) and should surge into the top 15. Newcomer Jana Kramer has had a big week and could be top 10 bound in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Dustin Lynch, Thompson Square, Thomas Rhett, and The Farm all continue to move slowly in the lower reaches of the top 20. The Zac Brown Band's latest "The Wind" should enter the top 20 with Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" in the mix. Kelly Clarkson, Easton Corbin, and Big & Rich should all surpass the 10 million mark, making it about 9 songs within 3.5 million or so of each other on either side of the #20 spot. It really goes to show how competitive the chart is right now, especially with new artists pushing for the top 20 while the bigger stars fight to keep their high levels of airplay.
A little further down in the 20's are a trio of groups--Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, and Rascal Flatts. LBT's "Pontoon" is the 'surprise' hit of the bunch and should gain a few more spots this week, likely passing Lady A. Both Lady A and Rascal Flatts are moving uncharacteristically slow, and you could put Chris Young and the struggling veteran Alan Jackson into that 'slow-mover' group as well. Of course, Lady A and RF are moving faster than Alan is, but still quite slow by their standards, especially with the 2 groups having put up a nice string of hits.
Lee Brice continues to do pretty well, and Miranda Lambert should move up a few more spots this week, though I must note that Miranda has also spun her tires a bit right out of the gate. The competitive chart just might be the reason, though, as we see Jerrod Niemann and Jake Owen continue to press slowly forward, while Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, and George Strait continue to really struggle. I guess that's what happens when you have so many songs trying to go up at the same time. Look for Edens Edge to hang on to their top 40 spot with Randy Houser, Kristen Kelly, and Jon Pardi all inching toward the top 40. Scotty McCreery continues to really struggle with "Water Tower Town" but another idol alum, Casey James, is off to a superb start with "Crying On A Suitcase" and is set to jump up nearly 10 spots. Then of course there's Carrie Underwood, whose new single "Blown Away" is poised to crack the top 50 before it's even been officially sent to radio.
Again, Carrie's last single "Good Girl" looks like the only surefire recurrent so a couple songs at the bottom of the chart might drop off. One of those could be Bucky Covington, and I think "The Star Spangled Banner" will leave yet again. It looks like we could see debuts by Eric Church's "Creepin'", Kip Moore's "Beer Money", and Maggie Rose's "I Ain't Your Mama". However, Bucky Covington could hang on to his spot, while Tim McGraw's "Right Back Atcha Babe", Parmalee's "Musta Had A Good Time", Chris Cagle's "Let There Be Cowgirls", Colt Ford's "Back", and Andy Gibson's "Summer Back" could also contend for the bottom few spots on the chart.

I know. Doesn't change what I said, though. It's been at radio for 2 weeks and isn't moving quite as fast as you'd want to see it. I'm not saying it's moving really slowly, just a tad slower than I thought it would. Certainly not as bad as the latest from Lady A and Chris Young, though. By their standards, "Wanted You More" and "Neon" are moving pretty darn slowly. For Miranda, still plenty of time for her to pick up the pace yet.

But regardless of whether Miranda's a big name celebrity or not, there's still a lot of radio stations that just aren't going to jump on this early no matter what and will wait for the adds date. Its a third single release too. So, all things considered, I personally think its moving maybe even a bit faster perhaps than normal.

So, all things considered, I personally think its moving maybe even a bit faster perhaps than normal. Well, I don't. Besides, it was just a comment. All I said is that she's moving just a bit slower than I thought she'd be and I feel like I usually get a pretty good handle on these things. I do a lot of number-crunching and put in a few hours each week to get my predictions just right (not that I'm always right--I mean "right" as in, running the numbers to get the best projections I feel like I can get). I'm sure FGIT will get a lot of adds tomorrow but this is just a 'hobby' of mine, trying to get a 'feel' for how well a song is gonna do. Right now, my gut tells me FGIT misses #1 but still makes the top 5. I think Lady A is gonna miss the top 5 and Chris Young will miss the top 10. It's just what I'm thinking, when I look at the big picture.

Kinda late, but some predictions for tomorrow's 7/21 Billboard chart. 1) Brantley Gilbert – “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do" 2) Eli Young Band – “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” 3) Dierks Bentley – “5-1-5-0” 4) Kenny Chesney – “Come Over” 5) Luke Bryan – “Drunk On You” 6) Gloriana – “(Kissed You) Good Night” 7) Toby Keith – “Beers Ago” 8) Eric Church – “Springsteen” (last week)9-10) The Band Perry – “Postcard From Paris” 9-10) Love & Theft – “Angel Eyes” 11) Blake Shelton – “Over” 12-13) Josh Turner – “Time Is Love” 12-13) Keith Urban – “For You” 14) Jana Kramer – “Why Ya Wanna?” 15) Dustin Lynch – “Cowboys And Angels” 16-17) Zac Brown Band – “The Wind” 16-17) Thomas Rhett – “Something To Do With My Hands” 18-19) Hunter Hayes – “Wanted” 18-19) Thompson Square – “Glass” 20-22) Big & Rich – “That’s Why I Pray” 20-22) Little Big Town – “Pontoon” 20-22) Tim McGraw – “Truck Yeah” [NEW!]23) Easton Corbin – “Lovin’ You Is Fun” 24) The Farm – “Home Sweet Home” 25) Rascal Flatts – “Come Wake Me Up” 26) Miranda Lambert – “Fastest Girl In Town” 27-28) Lady Antebellum – “Wanted You More” 27-28) Chris Young – “Neon” 29) Lee Brice – “Hard To Love” 30) Jerrod Niemann – “Shinin’ On Me” 31-32) Phil Vassar – “Don’t Miss Your Life” 31-32) Jake Owen – “The One That Got Away” 33-34) Kix Brooks (featuring Joe Walsh) – “New To This Town” (last week)33-34) Greg Bates – “Did It For The Girl” 35-36) Justin Moore – “’Til My Last Day” 35-36) Edens Edge – “Too Good To Be True” 37) Randy Houser – “How Country Feels” 38) George Strait – “Drinkin’ Man” (last week)39-40) Kristen Kelly – “Ex-Old Man" 39-40) Carrie Underwood – “Blown Away” 41-43) Casey James – “Crying On A Suitcase” 41-43) Jon Pardi – “Missin’ You Crazy” 41-43) Scotty McCreery – “Water Tower Town” 44) Eric Church – “Creepin’” 45-46) Josh Abbott Band – “Touch” 45-46) Kip Moore – “Beer Money” 47) Aaron Lewis – “Endless Summer” 48-49) Darryl Worley – “You Still Got It” 48-49) Montgomery Gentry – “So Called Life” 50) The Mavericks – “Born To Be Blue” 51) Chris Cagle – “Let There Be Cowgirls” 52-54) Maggie Rose – “I Ain’t Your Mama” 52-54) Jessie James – “Military Man” 52-54) Due West – “Things You Can’t Do In A Car” 55) Parmalee – “Musta Had A Good Time” [NEW!]56-58) Katie Armiger – “Better In A Black Dress” 56-58) Rodney Atkins – “Just Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll” 56-58) Craig Morgan – “Corn Star” 59) Trace Adkins – “Them Lips (On Mine)” 60) Luke Bryan – “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” [NEW!]Dropping Off: Kelly Clarkson's "Mr. Know It All", Josh Thompson's "Comin' Around", and Matt Stillwell's "Ignition" Comments:After 4 straight weeks at #3, waiting out Eric Church and Luke Bryan and getting passed by the Eli Young Band, Brantely Gilbert will move up to #1 as Eric and Luke have finally moved out of the way, and he re-passes the EYB. The Big Machine Label Group has certainly played things interestingly once again, making a mockery of the country charts and how easy it is to manipulate them, and also how easy it seems to be to get a #1 these days...just make the top 10 and there's a good chance that you'll get into the revolving door and hit #1! Anyway, look for Dierks Bentley to move closer to the top, all while Kenny Chesney closes in. Gloriana will also move a step closer to their first ever top 5 hit, with Toby Keith still hanging in there as well. Eric Church will get one more week in the top 10, postponing Blake Shelton's top 10 entrance with "Over". The top 10 logjam is also really hindering the latest singles from Keith Urban and Josh Turner. Meanwhile, the Zac Brown Band continues to do pretty well with their latest, "The Wind", while Hunter Hayes has had another big week with "Wanted". Thompson Square, Thomas Rhett, Easton Corbin, and The Farm are all hanging in there yet, but may be stuck in a standstill or even move back a bit as they stick around hoping for songs ahead to leave. Little Big Town's "Pontoon" is on a roll, and Tim McGraw's Big Machine debut single, "Truck Yeah", is set for a near top 20 debut thanks to Clear Channel's ridiculous programming tactics. Rascal Flatts has finally showed a bit of life this week, but Lady A's "Wanted You More" still looks rather comatose. Miranda Lambert has had a pretty good week and should move ahead, and Chris Young has also gotten a bit more of a 'spark' this week, but still has a lot of work to do. Phil Vassar and Justin Moore continue to hang in there, while Kelly Clarkson and Josh Thompson bow out of the race. Kix Brooks and George Strait are also seemingly done, but each should get a final week on the chart. It's a tough chart-world for many of today's veterans--Alan Jackson left last week, Ronnie Dunn had been struggling, and now his pal Kix can't crack the top 30, and George Strait will have the lowest-charting single of his career. Part of the problem could be that these older guys don't make as many headlines because they can't sell a lot of digital singles, but the research seems to indicate that most of country's loyal listeners still want to hear Alan and George especially, so let's hope they come back swinging for the fences again soon. Meanwhile, look for Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" to hit the top 40, while newcomers Kristen Kelly, Jon Pardi, and Idol champ Scotty McCreery continue to really struggle. Newcomers Casey James and Kip Moore, on the other hand, are showing great signs with their new singles, and Eric Church's "Creepin'" is also doing well considering it's not even at radio yet. Finally, in the lower reaches of the chart, we have several slower moving artists, including Montgomery Gentry, Darryl Worley, The Mavericks, Jessie James, Rodney Atkins, Craig Morgan, and Trace Adkins. Look for Parmalee's first single "Musta Had A Good Time" to score a pretty strong debut, while Luke Bryan's "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", Colt Ford's "Back", and possibly Tim McGraw's "Right Back Atcha Babe" could be competing for the last spot on the chart.

This might be a dumb question, but how is Truck Yeah the greatest gainer if it just debuted this week? I thought it had to be on the charts at least a week before it could be a "gainer."

Interesting point. But the way I figure it works is it had a lot to gain from nothing at all, so that meant it outgained everybody else in the frame of this week. ;)

I was just curious. Looking back, I see that happened with Chesney's latest too! Probably be happening a lot more with all these clear channel deals ;)

The Greatest Gainer is simply the song that gained the most audience in the tracking week, so it's not that complicated. Last week at this time, TY had 0.000 million AI's...it's probably up around 12.5 million tonight. There may have been 1 or 2 songs that gained something around 3 million, but obviously a 12.5 million week is gonna be the biggest gain by far, and thus, TY is the Greatest Gainer.
