I'd love to see her on Big Machine as well... They seem to be the label of career revivals; Rascal Flatts, Reba, Tim McGraw, etc... This is a great thing for her. The circumstances suck, but she has a big enough name to get signed elsewhere, and get a new start in doing so. Does an artist need a 'career revival' if their career was going just fine. I mean Reba got the boost w/radio but RF and Tim were clearly not in need of 'revivals' w/radio when they joined the label.

Not on the same level, but Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw were seeing overall declines in radio success for sure. The latest era from Rascal Flatts doesn't seem to be doing too particularly well, but they definitely had a (temporary) resurgence in popularity w/ Nothing Like This, and Tim McGraw will probably be capable of more #1 hits per album with BMR than he has with Curb in a long time. Especially in Tim's case, I wouldn't use the term "career is doing just fine," with the way Curb was throwing him under the bus.

I noticed Sony has already taken Kellie off of their website. I also noticed Ronnie Dunn is still on there. Probably just an oversight but makes me wonder about the label. I really don't think Sony does a great job at promoting all of it's roster. I knew 100 Proof as a single and album probably wouldn't sell in great numbers, but I think it's probably her best record to date. I hope Kellie goes to one of the indie labels in Nashville. I've been a devote fan of Kellie Pickler, but Sony really dropped the ball here.

^That's one of the problems with a big label (if you can even call it a problem). They DO promote all of their artists but there's no way all of them can be 'big' at the same time. Sony currently has 22 artists on their roster (9 on Arista, 4 on Columbia, and 9 on RCA) so when it comes to promotion at radio, if all 9 Arista or all 9 RCA artists have singles out at the same time, that becomes quite taxing on the promo team. Kellie was on BNA (now Columbia) but all 3 imprints are one label really, and there's no shortage of stars on the Sony roster. Kellie just never really had any momentum for this album cycle, and I really feel like she wasn't a big enough star to pull off such an album in today's commercial and radio climate. If Carrie or Miranda did a traditional album like this, they could probably make it work, with good sales and airplay, but Kellie has never been as big of a star as they are.

I thought Kellie sounded very nice singing "God Bless America" at the All-Star game this week. Her management really knows how to get her quite a gig, but it's such a shame that it comes after she's dropped and one of the finest country releases of the year flops. Love this girl.

How can you ask for more than that?" “In looking for a label partner, I was really drawn to the Black River family because they hold similar values that I do,” shares Pickler. “From our initial meeting, it was clear to me how much the entire team respects the artists’ musical vision, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio to record and release new music to country radio.” Doug Johnson, VP of A&R at Black River, sees Kellie as the total package. "Kellie Pickler –great singer, captivating performer, the heart and soul of what makes our format incredible and authentic. Deep roots plus relevance equals a true artist.
