I'd say Let Me Down has a pretty good shot at coming up after Dark Side--Kelly's never not had a cowrite single, and that's the safest bet amongst hers on this album. I'd love to see Hello or You Love Me get a release, but Let Me Down is awesome and I think the most radio friendly of the three. I love You Can't Win, but given the era she's had, I think it had to be the first single or remain an album gem.

"Maybe" or bust. Also, if she likes music from the 50s/60s, maybe she'd like the iTuness Session recording of "Why Don't You Try." Also, her live recording of "Up to the Mountain." Thanks for the input! I decided to add "Honestly," "The War Is Over," "Maybe," "Why Don't You Try," "Impossible," and "Alone." (I took out all the Breakaway and All I Ever Wanted singles.)

Pretty darned good for her 10th year in the business, plus coming off two so-so albums from the sales point of view.

Wait, if she's sold 3.2 million singles (at around $1 each) or whatever, and 600,000 (at around $10 each) domestically, how does that equate to $4 million?
600 x $10 = $6,000,000 3,200,000 x $1 = $3,200,000
Which equals nearer $9 million no? In terms of domestic revenue from the Stronger era, right?

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous of this Brandon Blackstock dude! I was still holing out hope that we'd meet and magically fall in love. HELL, haha! Anyway, happy she is finally dating someone. All the signs have been there. Pic from the Super Bowl, plus the pic w/ Blake and Reba where his hand is basically on her ass. I hope it works out! She seems like a really down to Earth chick, who deserves happiness! GO KELLY!

The hair has got to go. The color, the cut, the bangs. Nothing is working. Give her some blonde highlights (eventually all blonde, if I had my way), some waves, and a side pony, and Kelly will have a ring on it in no time. Ditz moment: I had to image search "waves and a side pony" because just reading those words together invoked images of my sixth grade yearbook picture, My Little Pony, and a lot of bad 80's decisions, and I had to be sure none of those things were what you meant. I know I'll always be in the minority here for two things - one, liking her current hairstyle (albeit it is about time for a trim on the bangs) and two, not really being here for Blondelly unless it's a darker blonde. But that's just me; it looks great on some people, sure, but I've just never gotten the fuss over blonde in general. I always prefer darker hair. Also, if you have to change your hairstyle just to get someone to marry you, it's not a ring worth having. That's the kind of jerk that will leave you when he has a midlife crisis and needs a "newer" model. Which I'm sure would lead to a spectacular album, but I don't really want great music from Kelly that way.

In terms of domestic revenue from the Stronger era, right? I'd say more around $10.5M (630 albums plus 3.2 singles at $1.29 each). This wouldn't even account for other random single sales, the true deluxe sales, the iTunes mixes, the Smoakstokes sessions, and the iTunes sessions. I definitely think she's been very profitable to the label this era.

ABC's Duets Lands Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Nettles ABC is entering the crowded singing competition arena, but with four hefty names: Kelly Clarkson, Lionel Richie, Robin Thicke and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. The four superstars will serve as mentors and singing partners on Duets, which will premiere this summer.
The show will feature Clarkson, Nettles, Richie and Thicke as they scout for talent across the country. The four will ultimately choose two singers as their duet partners, and together each week, the star and his/her protégé will perform on stage. One duet will eventually win, with the amateur receiving a recording contract from Disney's Hollywood Records label.
"The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can't wait to be a part of," Clarkson says.
Adds Richie: "My goal will be to focus on developing true artistry and giving them the tools necessary to be creative artists instead of created artists... I am eager to pass along a few of the nuggets of wisdom that I have received throughout my 40-year career."
"The concept of Duets is so fresh because its mentoring is active and participatory," Nettles says. Adds Thicke, "The format is unlike anything that's out there right now and the opportunity to work with such talent, both the other artists and contestants, is definitely going to make for an exciting competition."
Duets comes from executive producer Robert Deaton, who also produces the Country Music Association awards for ABC through his Keep Calm and Carry On Productions.

Ahh so that's the surprise?! That should be super cool! That interview below gives me so much The Voice vibe. Hopefully it'll be as good as that show!

I can smell another talent show disaster. With The Voice, X-Factor, Idol, and to some extent, America's Got Talent, all being on TV on top of the fact that it's ABC, I think this will be canceled very quickly. Of course I would LOVE for it to be successful for Kelly's sake, but my gut says otherwise.

Well it's a summer show.... There won't be anything other than America's got talent on tv...
Plus it seems to me this would be the kind of show where the coaches would need to be replaced every season in order to be interesting...
Who knows... This could be the start of a great show...

I kind of just assumed she was a pop tart or something because I had never heard of her. Well Kelly's still the best one on the show.

I find it kind of interesting that three of the mentors here are all also serving as assistant coaches on The Voice this season too

Kelly Clarkson: 'I like confident, powerful role models'
In celebration of International Women's Day and to celebrate her Stronger tour, KiSS 92.5 host and iVillage Canada blogger Taylor Kaye chatted with Kelly Clarkson about what the day means to her and why she cries, all the time. Read on for what transpired.
Taylor Kaye: What do you do to blow off steam? Kelly Clarkson: Cry. I am the biggest crybaby. I will cry at Kodak commercials, at galleries, at songs, just if I'm having a bad girl day. I'm such a girl. But I'll get over it within, like, 20 minutes, but I'll just get my cry on.
TK: I usually cry when I say sorry to someone. When was the last time you said sorry to someone? KC: I hurt one of my friend's feelings. I said something funny, like I was supposed to be joking, and she took it to heart and I felt horrible about it.
TK: Did you cry about it? KC: No. She did, which made me feel horrible, and I was like, “What?” It's like, one of those things that's not even something mean. It's just something that she was sensitive at that moment about and I didn't really put that in perspective of like, “Oh, maybe right now in her life, that's not funny,” you know. But she cried. TK: What do you always bring with you on tour? KC: I travel with my dogs. They're my babies. I have two dogs that I travel with. Security is a little Maltese and Joplin is a miniature Labradoodle. They're my boyfriends. TK: Now, International Women's Day — should we be on top of buildings all, "Woo! It's International Women's Day!"? KC: Woo, burn our bras! No, I just think it's nice to celebrate anyone, so to have a day, that's awesome. And it's a nice little reminder to remember your sister, your mom, your cousin, anybody that's been a woman in your life that's done good by you, that helped you out, that inspired you. So I think that's nothing but good. TK: You're doing some mentoring on The Voice, how did they approach you? Was it like, "I was on Idol. Let's try something new:? KC: No, I'm friends with Blake and we have the same manager as well. I'm a huge fan of the show. I love any kind of singing show and just to be able to give somebody advice — I had nobody giving me advice. I was the first one from our show, so just to be able to give that to someone and some perspective, I would've really appreciated that. That's what my hope and goal was to do with people on that show and I love the show. It's a fun concept. TK: Who do you consider some of your mentors? Who do you look up to? KC: Reba [McEntire]. Annie Lennox. I was a huge Rosemary Clooney fan. I loved her. I like a lot of the big vocalists, very confident, very powerful role models. o.

But you're right. I should not have typed the $ when I meant copies. :)

I'm actually really excited about Duets. Nothing is better than watching Kelly on a TV show every week and she will even sing with the contestants. Great exposure opportunity. The one thing I'm worried about is that people may compare it to The Voice, and I'm not sure if Duets will be on par with that show.

I'm kind of trying to wrap my head around how I feel about this...
PROS: -Kelly every week this summer--built-in promo (maybe even specifically with a "Dark Side" performance) -She seems really into this idea of mentoring lately, and I'm glad she gets to be a part of something new with regards to it rather than bounce around other reality shows -Could be the start of something cool, or could just be for a season and keeps her face out there while her album is still chugging along -Maybe they'll put their performances on iTunes, and if she gets someone good, more Kelly music/sales -At least the format seems different enough
CONS: -This is, like, the 107th singing competition reality show -What does this mean for: summer tour, international promo, US promo -Potential extra toll on her voice -It just feels kinda...lame -Not sure how well it will do--making it a summer show is a good choice, and ABC is a solid network, but the public seems to be already unable to support all the singing shows that are out there already -Potential Idol backlash--she will now have been a part of two other singing competition shows on two other networks -Kelly won't be like this, but it feels like the show could slide into an "it's all about the judges" thing with them dueting, making the whole thing seem very self-serving
Not sure. I want to be more excited, but I feel like this would be a cool thing for her to do in, like, five years. But I guess that would make it even worse--at least she's in a resurgence of her career so it doesn't really seem desperate. And people have clearly warmed to the idea of pop stars becoming judges while their careers are still happening. But I can't help feeling kinda...meh about all this. I know I'll be glad to see and hear her so consistently, though.

I'm not going to worry about wether or not the show is going to be a success, it really doesn't matter to me and the fact that ABC is airing it in the summer seems to suggest they don't expect it to be this huge event. Could it be a hit, sure why not, but in reality I see it performing similar to the NBC show The Singoff or whatever it was called.
I think it's great to get Kelly out there as promotion for album sales and to maybe promote her current single, but im not expecting it. Kelly has always been vocal about helping other find success in the industry so I'm glad she is doing it on a larger scale. Plus she is more than qualified. I highly doubt she will make this about her, I know she will work her ass off for her protege.
