I am looking forward to the dierks record, BUT those 30 second samples for the most seemed disappointing to me. Diamonds make babies sounds like It has been completely rearranged then the live version. Surprised Country and Cold Cans didn't make the record. Sucks that Fastback didn't make the cut. Hope I'm wrong. I'll give it another listen.

Diamonds make babies sounds like It has been completely rearranged then the live version. Surprised Country and Cold Cans didn't make the record. Sucks that Fastback didn't make the cut. Hope I'm wrong. I'll give it another listen. He did re-cut Diamonds. I'm also surprised that Cold Cans didn't make it (hoping it's a bonus track at least). Fastback doesn't surprise me at all, honestly. It's a good song, but the album already seems a little uptempo-heavy, so it's definitely possible those songs got cut for that reason. I'd heard 5-1-5-0 wasn't going to make the final cut but it is extremely well-received live, so I think they went with it for that reason. I've only listened to the previews once, and I know that will change (like, tomorrow), but on first listen it's not as "pandering" as I was expecting, which I'm happy for. It feels radio friendly for sure, but I think it's different enough than the streak he was on pre-Up on the Ridge that it will be well-received while still being a step in a different direction. I did notice (sadly) that it doesn't appear that there's his standard "bluegrass" song on this album, which is disappointing. When You Gonna Come Around appears to have been written by Deric Ruttan and it appears they've performed it live at least once. Just kidding - this is written by Jamie Hartford (who also wrote "Good Things Happen" off Modern Day Drifter.) Sounds like a good duet - is that Colbie Callait? The tracks I instantly liked were Tip it on Back and Heart of a Lonely Girl. But this fangirl is going to bed happy and haven broken the news to the masses (thanks, jhomes!). :)

#Brad Paisley | TBD (Arista Nashville) #Craig Morgan | TBD (Black River Entertainment) Interesting. I was not aware Brad Paisley had something cooking for next year already. It seems like -- in spite of him being on single #4 --- the This Is Country Music era hasn't been going on for that long. Also, in regards to Craig Morgan's new album, the title for that one is going to be This Ole Boy.

^Taste Of Country posted an article about how Brad is already looking toward the next album. My guess is it won't be out until late 2012, but I felt that since Taste Of Country had that article up (as well as articles on Jerrod & Darius), I'd put Brad as TBD.
I'll edit Wynonna & Craig Morgan in there. If there is anything else that anyone knows of, just post it here and I'll add it in or edit already existing info.
In regards to Dierks--I'm off to listen to the previews now. Kevin59 posted on the album over at CCT so I just re-produced it here.

I'm nothing more than a casual Dierks Bentley fan, so I know very little about the behind-the-scenes process in putting this album together, but I find it fairly laughable that the song he named his current tour after in support of this record didn't make the final cut. That makes absolutely no sense.

Well, to be fair, previous tours have been named randomly as well - High Times and Hangovers, Throttle Wide Open (which was a snippet of a line in "Can't Live it Down" on Long Trip Alone), etc. But, it is intriguing knowing the song for which the tour was named didn't make the cut. My only thoughts are the studio version (as heard on the intro/outro to his weekly DBTV sessions over the summer) had a really long intro before the song really got going. It was used as the opening number in the tour, as well, which was good because the long intro allowed the band time to get onstage and ready and then they launched into the song. So, the long intro might have been awkward on the album. And, with the album already leaning more heavily into uptempo territory, they might have just said ... well, it's a great live song, but the album doesn't need it. I'll be content with it as a bonus track.
He tests news songs live fairly regularly. In 2007 he was regularly singing a song "I Sing for Free" and saying that he thought it would be the leading single off his new album (which ended up being "Feel That Fire"). The song never made an album (though another artist - Brad Cotter - cut it for his album), even though GAC was even touting it as the lead single in early 2008. If memory serves, I think they cut at least 20 songs for this album, and clearly only 12 made the cut, and I know of at least 3 more that he performed ("Cold Cans," "Fastback," and "Double-barrelled Shotgun") that also aren't on here.

Those songs that aren't on the Dierks record could be released as bonus tracks on a bonus edition too.

I've gone back and listened. Outside of the two singles, i Don't mind the woods, diamonds, 5-1-5-0. It's still disappointing. I'm huge dierks fan, but this sounds like a complete radio friendly bore. Missing that rawness and gritty Dierks Bentley touch.

I wouldn't judge the Dierks songs yet. I'll wait until I can hear the full songs...but for now, we're getting them little by little. You can now listen to the iTunes previews, which are 1:30 in length. itunes.apple.com/us/preorder/home/id489361422

Thanks for the list! :) Also, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I've heard that Love & Theft will be coming out with a new album in 2012 as well. I like them a lot, so hoping it's true!

Hate "Fastback" didn't make the cut, but wasn't a fan of "Country & Cold Cans", so kinda glad it didn't make it...ha! Definitely hoping this one grows on me.

I am a big fan of Brett's as well and I really hope he gets an album out, even if it only gets a digital release. He's got some great songs--some leaked to Mediabase and they all sounded great, particularly "Signs" and "One Way Ticket". I'm really bummed that "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" didn't become at least a top 20 hit...he'll probably need a hit in order to get the album out there, so I just hope good things happen for him. I'm sure you're right about Love & Theft, since they have a new single out. Most of the artists listed with album release dates TBD have either confirmed they'll have albums out, or there is a source or something that said they'd put an album out in 2012. I'll see if I can find anything on Love & Theft, but one could certainly assume they'll likely be putting out an album in 2012 unless they can't get a moderate hit.

I hated that "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" didn't do better, also. Definitely hoping for good things from him! He definitely has potential!

I loved his debut single, Raymond, a lot. I wish they would've put his album out when that single was peaking just outside the Top 20. I have a feeling he may struggle to get a hit on that level for awhile, so they shouldn't have been greedy and withheld the album. Same goes for James Wesley after he almost made the Top 20 with his album's title track.

I mean, it's not like it's going to make a HUGE difference in sales if the lead single/first hit single peaks around, say, #23 instead of #18. Guys like Brett and James just deserve to get albums out there, I think, because they're probably working their tails off. Maybe they won't get a huge hit but at least if they get a moderate one, fans can check out the album and it will at least have a chance to make them some money and I'm sure it's a big reward to just have your first album out there.

Yeah, I mean, what if they take like 3 more tries before they get a hit bigger than the almost-Top 20 hits I just mentioned? It doesn't make sense to keep an album from being released as they send out single after single to only middling success.

You can now listen to the iTunes previews, which are 1:30 in length. itunes.apple.com/us/preorder/home/id489361422I had to download iTunes just to listen to the 1:30 clips...but I figured it'd be good to have iTunes finally (I usually use Amazon) and I wanted to check out these songs. The one that sounds like the most obvious hit, to me, is "In My Head". That one sounds great. "Gonna Die Young" and "Tip It On Back" are both decent and would probably be growers. The only one I'm not really feeling is "Breathe You In"...it sounds too cheesy. "The Woods" is another decent song. But I really enjoy "When You Gonna Come Around"...that does sound like Colbie Caillat singing with Dierks, but I can't confirm that. "5-1-5-0" could work as a rowdy radio song but I bet he'll keep it as a live performance type of song since we already had "Am I The Only One". "Thinking Of You" is a pretty strong ballad...I don't think it's a radio song though. "Heart Of A Lonely Girl" sounds great...I'd say that one, along with "Home", "In My Head", and "When You Gonna Come Around", are my favorites.

After listening to the longer clip on iTunes, it almost sounds like Sheryl Crow Karen Fairchild from LBT on "When You Gonna Come Around." (From GreenRoom PR this am.) I really like that song. jhomes, I totally agree with you about "In my Head." I think that's easily my favorite song on the album. "Thinking of You" is very strong but at a 7-minute run time, I'm going to go with no. Happy to hear in the longer snippets that there is still a healthy dose of steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin throughout the album. To my ears, "Home" appears to be a stronger, more cohesive album than "Feel that Fire" was, so I'm plenty pleased about that. I'd put "In My Head," "When You Gonna Come Around" as probable singles. "Tip it on Back" could be another single, if, by some miracle, they decided to go 5 deep. Here is information GreenRoom PR published today: thegreenroompr.com/dierksbentley.html

^Ah, good find. Karen sounds great on that song, and it makes sense that she was able to record it with Dierks since LBT is another Capitol artist.
I actually think that this album could go 5 singles deep. Especially since single #2, "Home", will be peaking not long after the album drops. A 3rd and 4th single could take us through the rest of the year, but unless he's planning on getting another album out in the first half of 2013, or taking a break/hiatus then, he might need another single (a 5th) from this album to be on the airwaves next winter. My first 2 choices for singles would definitely also be "In My Head" and "When You Gonna Come Around"--you have good taste! ;) A 3rd choice for me, personally, would probably be "Heart Of A Lonely Girl" but I think "Tip It On Back" or "Gonna Die Young" would work fine as well and I'd be ok with either of those as a single, I think.
And of course we can't rule out "5-1-5-0" or "Diamonds Make Babies" as single candidates. I'd say the first one would be a choice only if they wanted to go with a more rowdy uptempo--it's not a bad song but it sounds more like a concert song to me. DMB isn't bad either but I'd rather see other songs released as singles than that one. "The Woods" could work, too...I'll have to listen to that one again. Really, the only song that probably couldn't be a single is "Thinking Of You"--it's a great album track, though.
I think it would be a mistake if they didn't release "In My Head", but I'm pretty sure they'll release it. And as long as there aren't any label complications with Karen singing on "When You Gonna Come Around", I think that one could be a frontrunner for a future single as well. If WYGCA becomes a single at some point, I wonder if Billboard will give credit to Karen and list it as Dierks featuring Karen? I'd think so but one can't be sure yet.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love "Heart of a Lonely Girl" and would love for that to be a single, I just don't see that it would be. "Gonna Die Young" does the least for me of any of the new songs, so I'd be fine with it as a single, but not super excited to write chart updates about it every week. ;)
I can see "Diamonds Makes Babies" being a single (even if I hate the title). It was well-received live, it's catchy, and isn't something that's been said a million times either. I agree with you about "5-1-5-0." Though, since the snippets were posted, my Twitter and Facebook feeds have been full of "somebody call the po-po LOL OMG HAHAHAHA" ... and ... I hate that line. (He got my hopes up earlier this fall when he played that live and said "I can't take it anymore" instead of the po-po line, so I thought he'd removed it. Alas!) Even my husband, who says it's one step above "Country Girl (Shake it For Me)," said it's ridiculously catchy and is often stuck in his head, so it would make a good single, albeit a polarizing one. ;)
"In My Head" is definitely a standout song, and I really hope they decide to release that. I'm also excited at the prospect of more than 3 singles from a Dierks album. I've felt like they could have gone 4 deep a few times ("Wish it Would Break" from the debut, "So, So Long" from Long Trip Alone, "You Hold me Together from Feel that Fire), so it would be a welcome change. It will also be nice to see him hold his own against his fellow labelmates, primarily Keith and Lady A. This should be a solid era for him. :)
GreenRoom PR just said this on Twitter re: "Cold Cans": "@adrianftaylor You'll be able to get "Country & CC" on release day ... more info soon on that. "fback" didn't make the cut. 2many great songs!"

Been waiting way too long for this one!! Really looking forward to it! Thanks for the list! :) Also, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I've heard that Love & Theft will be coming out with a new album in 2012 as well. I like them a lot, so hoping it's true! FYI the album for Brett Eldredge is called "One Way Ticket." It's great from start-to-finish.
