It looks like he's putting The Nikki Chronicles on hold. He's releasing the lead single from The Love IV very soon. It's titled "ROC".

His solo material has gotten quite stale.

When I heard The Roc I thought I was listening to Sex Intelligence Remix for a second. Unfortunately it's not as good.

Diminishing returns...
Having heard the first two singles I think this album could do even worse than his last.

THE-DREAM TAPS MARY J. BLIGE, GUCCI MANE FOR âLOVE IV MMXIIâThe-Dream is a master of seduction. The R&B singer-songwriter takes his craft to the next level on his fourth album Love IV MMXII (previously titled The Love IV: Diary of a Madman). Rolling Stone previewed nine songs from the follow-up to 2010âs Love King, which features collaborations with Mary J. Blige and Gucci Mane. âLove IV blends braggadocio with seduction over heavily percussive, synth-driven soundscapes,â writes the magazine, which also notes his improved falsetto. Find out what you can expect. The mid-tempo âForeplayâ recalls R. Kelly, while Terius rides the beat on the drum-heavy âEquestrian.â He takes it to the strip club on âSlow It Down,â where he croons, âI know they ainât gonna play this on Top 40 radio.â Mary J. Blige sings over violins on the introspective âDivineâ and he balls out with Gucci Mane on the club banger âPaid,â which borrows a sample from Nino Brown in New Jack City. âKatrinaâ is described as the âmasculine counterpart to BeyoncĂ©âs âIrreplaceableâ,â while the Radio Killa takes thinly-veiled shots at his R&B counterparts The Weeknd and J. Holiday on âTalk That Shit.â âYâall ni**as so disrespectful remixing my own shit,â he quips. The-Dream keeps it real on âYaâll,â owning up to his flaws. âSometimes even my cape needs dry cleaning,â sings the R&B superhero. âCrucify me if you want, but I wonât stop loving yâall.â Love IV MMXII does not currently have a release date. A video for the first single âROCâ was released last month. www.rap-up.com/2012/03/14/the-dream-taps-mary-j-blige-gucci-mane-for-love-iv-mmxii

Love King was my favorite Dream album. Trying to see him at SXSW but too many conflicts.

Love King might be my favorite out of his Love series so far, Love/Hate follows. I didn't really listen to his sophmore, tbh.

The quality of his albums has diminished from one album to the next, with sales to match.

THE-DREAM ANNOUNCES âLOVE IVâ RELEASE DATEThe-Dream has set a release date for the fourth installment in his Love series. Love IV MMXII will arrive on August 14, he announced via Twitter. The follow-up to 2010âs Love King features the single âROCâ as well as collaborations with Mary J. Blige (âDivineâ) and Gucci Mane (âPaidâ). The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter channels R. Kelly on âForeplay,â takes thinly-veiled shots at his R&B counterparts on âTalk That Shit,â and owns up to his flaws on âYaâll.â âLOVE IV is the BEST Album Iâve made,â he tweeted. âI donât care what the sales will be. I will do my best to Challenge your Taste And Knowledge. I will Leave no Holes in this Album Period, no room to be Hated only Adored or simply just say âyou donât fuck with meâ but what U wonât say is Dream Album is Mediocre or Sucks.â Last year, The-Dream released his free album 1977 under his birth name Terius Nash. It featured appearances from Pharrell, Big Sean, and his Radio Killa Records signee Casha. www.rap-up.com/2012/05/16/the-dream-announces-love-iv-release-date

Third single is "Dope Bitch". This isn't a hit either.

I feel like he's a writer who has to end up giving his big songs to other artists knowing they'll make more money for him that way. He's laughing to the bank and with a new Grammy on the shelf too...

I find it funny how he wasn't credited for that vocal on the actual album but his name wound up credited on the Grammy ballot.

Wasn't he credited with additional vocals? Yes. I'm referring to headliner credit. The album credits read No Church in the Wild feat. Frank Ocean, not feat. Frank Ocean & The-Dream.
