Carrie's album chart rankings are insane on iTunes right now!
Top Albums All genres: #6- Blown Away (pre-order) #44- Play On #72- Some Hearts #93- Carnival Ride
Country: #2- Blown Away (pre-order) #6- Play On #15- Carnival Ride
Pop: #14- Some Hearts
Plus, Hollie's performance has propelled JTTW to the top 100 songs and videos over-all: #136 on songs, #73 on videos.

Using Madonna's latest album as a guide, I think Blown Away will do 450k-ish (25% above Madonna).

I would guess 250,000 ...maybe close to 300K?? It has been some time since she released an album and while GG is a hit, it's nothing too different. I'd LOVE for it to hit 300K.

I think it will be between 250,000-350,000. At least I'm hoping for that.

I don't expect this album to debut anywhere below the debuts of PO and SH. I'm thinking upper 300k, lower 400k. It'll be her second-highest debut, no doubt, only being behind CR's 527k opening back in 2007. The fact that it's #6 on the all-genre albums chart [and still climbing after almost 2 days, solely on preorders], and the fact that it's already got a soon-to-be #1 smash (that also seems to be foreshadowing crossover potential, with iTunes promotion to Pop and gaining plays on HAC stations) are both very clear indicators that this debut will be big. Plus, we don't even have Carrie's street weeks announced. Once that's announced, we'll be able to make even better judgements of what sales range the debut will land in.
So many things to take into account here, and 250k is underestimating by a lot. The pre-orders on iTunes alone (it also went for pre-order sale for $9.99 w/ free shipping on BestBuy.com this week) have probably sold nearly 50k. 250k will be a breeze for this debut, and she'll easily top it.

^ Does iTunes sell that much albums though? How much was iTunes % for Carrie's previous opening week sales?

From what I've found Amazon rankings don't mean a massive anount of sales. It's just one small amount of the sales.

I want Carrie to do at least 300k because she has never opened with anything lower than that. Depending on how big GG is a month from now, the promotion lined up, etc... I think this should be fairly easy. Judging by the success of the pre-order it seems the album has already solidified sales around 40-60k between iTunes, Best Buy, Amazon, Barnes&Noble, etc.
My guess is somewhere between 300-375k... Could push 400k if everything goes perfectly. We'll see.

Not sure where you're getting 50k, though. It did make the top 10 on iTunes, but that's just iTunes. For a comparison, the #6 album on the Billboard 200 this week sold 37k, and Carrie hasn't stayed at #6 on iTunes all week, and has no physical copies to sell. Her presale performance on iTunes is great, but 50k is an unrealistic expectation. 300k opening, however, certainly isn't.

That GG performance on Facebook was insane. When GG was released I had a feeling she might have some problems with breath control because of the difficulty of some of the passages. Obviously I was wrong. She sang GG like she was in the darn shower.

Whoops -- I think I meant to remove that "alone" part after the "pre-orders on iTunes alone" line. I meant all of her presales thus far, between Amazon, iTunes, and now Best Buy.

Amazon barely makes a dent, I don't even want to think about Best Buy. She may end up at 50k in preorders, but she's nowhere near that right now.

I had predicted album sales at 300-350k, I'm leaning more toward the 350k-400k area. The GG performance at the ACMs, plus the fact that the song will be close to number one by album release time, will give her an extra boost. If you include tv talk show performances, that hopefully will be scheduled soon, you can add that to the PR hype. jmo

tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-good-girl-lyrics/The lyrics to Carrie Underwood‘s latest single ‘Good Girl’ were co-written by the superstar herself, along with Ashley Gorley and L.A.-based producer Chris DeStefano. Both esteemed songwriters played a big role in creating the perfect song for the first single from the Underwood’s forthcoming new album, which is slated for release this spring. “I was out [in L.A.] working on projects with Chris,” Gorley tells Taste of Country. “Carrie happened to be out there, and Carrie’s management team had an idea for the three of us to all get together to write. I had written with Carrie and Chris several times separately, but never together. We all thought it would be a great combination, and turns out we were right!” “Chris started an instrumental track, very uptempo with a great guitar lick,” he continues. “Carrie and I were tossing lyrics and melodies back and forth, and settled on ‘Good Girl’ as a title. We liked it because ‘Good Girl’ sounded like a sweet song, and it really contrasted with the music we had going. We liked the idea of people seeing the title and then being surprised once they heard the song.” “Hey, good girl / With your head in the clouds / I bet you I can tell you / What you’re thinkin’ about / You’ll see a good boy / Gonna give you the world / But he’s gonna leave you cryin’ / With your heart in the dirt / His lips are dropping honey / But he’ll sting you like a bee / So lock up all your loving / Go and throw away the key / Hey good girl / Get out while you can / I know you think you got a good man,” they wrote in the opening lyrics to the song. “We say the title right off the bat, first words of the song,” notes Gorley. “She’s talking to a ‘good girl’ who wants true love from a good guy … a white wedding, everything all the good girls want, but she’s blind to what the guy wants from her. It’s basically a warning to the girl that she needs to get out of the relationship before she gets hurt. He’s no good for her.” “Why, why you gotta be so blind / Won’t you open up your eyes / It’s just a matter of time / ‘Til you find / He’s no good girl / No good for you / You better get to gettin’ on your good bye shoes,” they wrote in the song’s chorus. Gorley is also a co-writer on two of Underwood’s previous chart-topping hits, ‘Don’t Forget to Remember Me’ and ‘All-American Girl.’ “As we were writing the lyrics, it was all about fitting the groove, having the right attitude,” he explains. “The chemistry was great between the three of us, and the track, melody and lyric all rolled out pretty quickly. When we listened back, we all loved it. Writing it seemed like a blur.” “It’s not a normal song structure,” he insists, adding, “It has several different sections, which I love. Right when you think chorus is over, the hookiest part of song starts. I love Carrie’s voice being exposed the way it is in this song, sometimes singing with just drums or hand claps, and even a capella at the end of the song. She has more power and control with her voice than anyone I’ve ever been in a room with. I don’t think anybody else could sing that song. We had a blast working on it!”

Just want to add that Barnes & Noble has "Blown Away" for $8.88, and free shipping for orders over $25. I think the label is shooting for a very high debut sales number.

New blog at the FC... talks about the ACM performance/rehearsals. There's a lot of staging for her performance in addition to having a custom-made pink microphone to go along with it all.
If this is any indication of the tour, I'm very excited.
