Has Wide Awake leaked in full? The snippet of it sounded so good.

Wide Awake is much better than Part of Me sonically. The lyrics are pretty awful though--the verses are almost like an SNL parody of the way she loves to mix cliches and metaphors ("Falling from cloud nine," "throw your sticks and your stones...," etc.). The song is, like, made up of that kind of thing. But I do actually like the sound of the song and can see myself being annoyed that I've had to purchase it to listen to it more.

'Wide Awake' needs to be released, it just sounds like a HUGE #1. It's just brilliant.

"Wide Awake" is decent. Nothing amazing, but decent. The lyrics and vocals hold it back for me, but it's still one of her better mid-tempo songs. While I wouldn't say it's a destined #1 smash (although I guess I shouldn't rule it out considering how her era has fared thus far), I could see it being pretty big depending on the performance of "Dressin' Up".

In love with Wide Awake from the first listen to the full track. It's giving me chills. I think this might be her best mid-tempo song yet.
I agree with dbhmr about the sound of the song, it's really beautiful sonically. I'm not sure anymore about which song I want to be the 2nd single now.

DU sounds good too though I expected more. I also agree with who said it sounds too remix-esque.

I may be in the majority here, but I think I prefer Dressin' Up! It is WAAAAAAY improved from the demo. If they're gonna release another single, I bet it will be that. It's on par with all the other fun singles from the original album. Katy must have fought to get Pearl, Who am I Living For, and NLTM on the standard edition, because all 3 of these songs are miles better. That, or they just couldn't get them done by the deadline, like I remember Ryan Tedder saying.

Wide Awake <3 Love it!! Kinda hope the end the era with it(they can do Dressin Up next, then WA :)
Glad to see POM still doing well...I really think it's not going to get #1 on Pop which is a shame, but WAY is coming wayyyy too fast, and The Wanted are going strong too. Still amazing, regardless!

Dressin' Up is cool, but it's not on par with the other TD singles. If she's to release just ONE more single, send Wide Awake, it's a great song, different from the other singles she's released this era, and would give a nice closure to the two year ride. Plus, it could have a stunning video.

I hope the label takes notice to that very positive feedback from "Wide Awake." It just screams "RELEASE ME."
Who produced "Wide Awake"? Do we know?

I actually prefer Dressin' Up over Wide Awake, but both are leaps and bounds better than Part of Me and musically they have an "edge" that all of her Teenage Dream era singles lacked other than E.T.

hmmmmm I don't know about either, but I think Wide Awake would be alot better. In DU, she sings about a kitty and him being a doggie. I think WA is better and her vocals aren't so nasal like or they aren't as fussy.
I think Wide Awake would be a good way to end a ultrasmash era.

Katy is performing on American Idol April 26st, but she'll apparently do Part of Me again. Quite surprised Katy still wants to go for POM for another month.

Katy is performing on American Idol April 26st, but she'll apparently do Part of Me again. Quite surprised Katy still wants to go for POM for another month. "Part of Me" is only #6 on CHR. Provided they can keep it going, it will be number one or almost number one around then. Performing it will give her a digital boost and probably be able to bring her back to #1 on the Hot 100 (as long as fun. don't do some huge promotion that week too), as well as keeping "Part of Me" as a huge radio hit. Kicking off a new song would just be too soon, and it would likely herald a premature death for "Part of Me".
