My very favorite of her songs, and one that fell off the radar immediately after falling off the charts. Case in point, every other song she had was bumped up on this thread after her passing, but a thread for this one doesn't seem to exist.

I don't like it at all. It's one of my least favorite Whitney singles. I don't like a lot of her schlocky 80s ballads. She was experiencing some backlash from urban audiences around this time. It went to #5 on the Hot 100, and #1 AC, but only #22 on the R&B chart. There was a very drastic change in her sound from this to I'm Your Baby Tonight.

Her performance of this song in 1997, as a celebration of the opening of the Arthur Ashe stadium in New York, is a performance of her's I sometimes watch most of all her performances. Her range was noticeably smaller at that point in time, but the tone, the texture, the inflections...all give goosebumps.
Has a thread been made for "How Will I know?"

I really enjoy this one. One of Whitney's best of the 80s.

I really like this for what it is. It's dated and cheesy on all accounts, but her voice is incredible on this, especially towards the end,
"...when I'm racing with DEEEEEEESTAAAANHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE"

Hmmm, this is OK. I don't dislike it, but it wouldn't be anywhere near my favorite Nippy songs. I like the bombastic, empowering vibe of it, though, and her vocal climax is crazy.

Impending 30th anniversary of this song. I love it, it's one of the most powerful vocals I've ever heard and I remember just being in awe at her ability. Whitney was the best at this kind of statement songs really.
It's an Olympic games year (though it's the winter ones) again too.

I really love this. The vocal performance here is unparalleled. Love the Grammy performance of it too.

This is my absolute favorite by her. This, "The Star Spangled Banner," "I Have Nothing," "Greatest Love of All," and "IWALY" are her peak vocal moments.

There are other better Whitney ballads than this one. It's okay.
