I only heard this once a few months ago and didn't see the big deal in it, but I'm curious to give it another listen.

Mabey because I'm not huge into this whole (dub step) breakdown in alot of songs.
Because I agree the production does sound a little sloppy.
I also don't think there's much connection in the song. The flow is kind of strange.
I don't dislike it but I don't hear the SMASH so many are hearing.
Rhianna's one of my current favorites so I hope I'm wrong and it smashes.

I think it will smash on the pure fact that is Rihanna doing dance and there hopefully won't be any other Rihanna songs to compete with it for radio attention. Radio will play Rihanna. I think combined all of the songs she is on totals about 300 mil AI.

I can spot elements successfully employed from all her big dance singles in this - "Only Girl", "Disturbia", "We Found Love", and "Don't Stop The Music". Conceptually it's like the ultimate Rihanna club song in a way. If this isn't a hit they have only themselves to blame.

Is that what people are saying, though? I think a lot of posters agree with me that the song is overrated, but it's still the perfect choice for next single. That's more or less the same reaction "Last Friday Night" got and I remember posts confusing the two then as well.

IKR! Seems like people think iTunes dictates what's hot, but looks like Talk That Talk charting high upon the release of her album led to some false hope of it being a #1 smash. THIS song though, it will be.

TTT would have been a hit had it not been mainly for the Rihanna overload and BC remix.

And I seem to remember everyone saying this is the smash of the album, but they'd rather have TTT first. Anyone who thought TTT would smash harder than this was delusional. Anyone who thought TTT should be released before this was practical.

So glad TTT flopped. I never made it a secret that I found it boring and uninspired while I saw so much raving for it and predictions for its smashing. All I could do was sit back and hope it would die a quick, painless death, which it pretty much did. Now THIS song...the business, pure and simple. Codex, I love you.
