It's been way too long. Hopefully this sounds decent and at least charts.

They were so successful for a few albums that their sudden failure to chart altogether made no sense to me at all. A lot of their contemporaries are making comebacks so a good song and a good push could give them a fair shot to get back in the game. They're the exact right band to resurface right now. Plus with Everlast and Eve 6 recently making their alternative comebacks, all we need is Everything of "The Hooch" fame to make a comeback to give us the return of the EVE-quadrecta 14 years later.

My station in KC has played this a few times... The problem with Everclear is that their sound has never really evolved. This song just sounds like a recycled version of one of the lesser songs from a record in 1997.

How should they "evolve"? Every album I've heard from them has been pretty solid, including Welcome To The Drama Club. As long as it sticks with that level of quality, I'm looking forward to this album.

The only Everclear album I've heard in its entirety is So Much For The Afterglow, so there may be some good album tracks on the later ones for all I know. But I think that Everclear sabotaged themselves after that era with poor single choices, especially with their last two major-label albums. "Wonderful" was a fine choice and thus performed well, but I think "AM Radio" may have been too poppy for increasingly hard-rock leaning Alternative format at the time (though I liked it). Then "When It All Goes Wrong Again" just wasn't radio-friendly, plus Songs From An American Movie Vol. 2 came so shortly after Vol. 1, so the momentum just died. They may have had a shot at recovery with their next album, but they blew it with the (IMO) really cheesy "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom". A few years later they released "Hater" which was a little better but still very novelty-ish, plus by then they weren't even on a major label anymore, and were probably seen as washed up.
That said, I do think they have at least an off chance of succeeding with this song, which isn't the best I've heard from them, but is pretty good and certainly better than something like "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom". I think enough time has passed since their streak of flop singles, their older hits still enjoy airplay, and Alternative radio seems more receptive to non-major label releases now. We'll see what happens.

Also, "When It All Goes Wrong Again" is one of my favorite Everclear songs and I find it surprising that you'd call it "not radio friendly" because I thought it was a very strong single. I always just thought it's lack of success was due to the hazards of them trying to promote two albums at the same time.

can't see this hitting any charts, I don't mind it but it doesnt have anything special enough about it to buck the trend of them having not had any success for a long time now
apart from Art it's a different band altogether these days but I guess it was all about him when Greg and Craig left the band
wasn't he going to go solo after the other lads from the successful EVERCLEAR moved on ?
I believe he changed his mind and kept it as EVERCLEAR and this version of the band has evolved over the past 4/5 years now
think we can safely say Wonderful will be their highest charting single ever (made #11)

Since you didn't mention Welcome To The Drama Club in your summary there I have to assume you're another person who didn't know that album existed.
