Love it. Now this is a "I'm going out and don't f**king care what anyone else thinks" song, then I f**king give in. LOL "Friday" was more of that kind of song than this. But don't get me wrong, "Friday" was in my top ten of 2011.

Don't really get all the hate for Owl City, but whatever I don't care, I love Owl City. And posts like this are completely uncalled for and do not add anything relevant to the discussion: f**k YOU OWL CITY! Go the hell away! There are more effective ways of conveying dislike for an act. Anywho, I really like this, and I hope it's a hit for both of them

fun pop song. I see at least Top10 on pop and Hot100 (considering Carly's popularity at the moment).

This sound exactly like you would expect it to based on the artists behind it. And I don't mean that as a bad thing - it's fun and I wouldn't be surprised if it hit - but damn if this isn't predictable in every way.

What a shame he have to collaborate with Carly Rae Jepsen to get a Top 40 Hit. This song is pretty good, It should be able to bring Owl City back to pop chart since 2009.

Interesting how a lot of people think this is deemed a sad attempt at getting a hit and all of that when Carly herself isn't star power for radio. She has one current hit. That's it. We have no idea if she's going to score another one ever again. So really, it's like a one-hit-wonder joining forces with a potential one-hit-wonder.

I like this. It's calculated pop fluff, but it's enjoyable.

This will end up being Carly's de facto 2nd single (unless they quick-produce her a new hit and rush release. I see it going top 10 CHR and Hot 100.

These two one hit wonders are demanding another hit by teaming up!

This is an obvious smash. Then again, Gold was too, and it never got a chance.
Shooting Star was not a good song, however, so at least that did not get the full single treatment.

These two one hit wonders are demanding another hit by teaming up! Carly is not a one-hit-wonder. She only has released one song, which is still currently too popular to warrant the release of a follow-up.

So waiting until she finally got the #1 on the Hot 100 and then announcing this afterwards seems exactly like that strategy.

So Owl City has to depend on the CHR flavor of the day (Carly Rae Jepsen) in order to get a pop hit now?

"The follow-up to Carly's summer smash, the song is featured on both artists' current albums. Uptempo and party-ready. Impacting June 26. "

Am I the only one who thinks this won't be a hit? Feels like to me that it'll only peak in the teens or probably way lower.

And why don't we know anything about Carly's album yet?

Thanks, beautiful.
I'd love some confirmation that "Curiosity" is on the album.

I read somewhere that Carly's debut album in the US will be released in September. It may have been on Billboard.

No. This is a forced attempt from Owl City to remain relevant on radio after a relative fall from grace in that department, clinching onto the current artist of the moment who just broke through with wide international success. And you can hear parts which really showcase that. I already noted that I am enjoying it, so being forced doesn't effect how listenable it is for me, but noting the song for what it is shouldn't make you fall back on the stan-mode cliches of "this is the pop music world" since I'm not using it to discredit the song. It has been so many years since Owl city had that Fireflies hit. Come On. If he desperate to be relavant, it would be a duet with lady gaga/rihanna/katy perry instead. Also, I find that adam young is similar to Carly when it comes to image wise, that is why their duet works for me.

Well I like this. It is catchy and happy. It is not an oversexual dance song or angsty rap lyrics. It is just a simple song that makes you feel good aka. Call Me Maybe.
The duet makes sense and of course he wants a hit. What is he supposed to do, " I am never going to make a hit, so I should stop? No I should keep trying and evolve with radio.

Song that only made the top 10 in 2 countries. ;) Oh, you got me with a CHR/Pop-specific #3 hit. -- And yes, not always, you just picked a terrible example.

I realize it's a bit of a difference, but I thought people were talking about how this is a ploy to get played on pop radio, so I was just debunking on how getting Carly isn't exactly the best method to do that with. Again, I realize "Call Me Maybe" has been more successful on radio than "According to You," but it's the first example that popped into my head. We haven't really had very many one-hit-wonders as of late.
