Look on the bright side, it's nice to finally have someone else at #1 on the new chart. Instead of the same person week after week with a song not getting airplay from country radio.

Yeah, at least this week's #1 is actually a #1 hit country song. (Trying to look on the bright side of this dumb chart).

I prefer to treat the Hot Country Songs chart as non-existent. So I could care less, haha. But I do care about the airplay chart, and so I am hoping "Cruise" starts to fall a bit faster by the end of the week. FGL was 4.2 million ahead of Justin on the 12/22 Billboard chart, so I figure they need to lose somewhere between 2.5 and 3 million this week, and have Justin make up the rest of the difference. Kip has had a better week than Justin, but he was an additional 1.8 million back, so he has to make up that much ground just to catch Justin. It definitely looks like a 3-horse race though, with the ZBB looking at next week, and waiting to see if maybe someone like Kip is still hanging around in a week's time.
Currently, FGL remains #1 on the RTT (not surprising) but hopefully that changes by Sunday, or is at least thrown into some doubt.

That chart is indeed a farce and has broken every record for ridicule on this board that I can think of.

No drop in spins/AIs in this morning's MB update. Looks like another week at #1 as Justin's charge falls way short.

It is looking more and more likely that "Cruise" will spend a 3rd week at #1. The race of Mediabase between Florida Georgia Line and Kip Moore is very close, though. I'm not so sure. After today's update, I think Kip could get it, maybe even on both charts. He only has one more day for Mediabase, but 2 for Billboard. "Cruise" drops 500k today and Kip gains 730k and he's actually ahead of FGL in spins on Mediabase (6457 for Kip, 6427 for FGL). We'll see about Billboard yet...no matter what, Kip's gonna need to keep these big gains up over the weekend. He got an extra spin on Lon Helton's countdown last weekend, when he was co-hosting, so he'll lose that extra spin this weekend. Furthermore, the hot song on Lon's countdown is "Cruise" so that will get an additional spin this weekend (I think the 'hot song' is just the greatest gainer within the top 5 and of course Lon's countdown is 2 weeks behind the actual chart). It's definitely a good race, though. Even Justin is still mathematically in the hunt but Kip has clearly moved ahead of him as FGL's biggest challenger.

This gets a third week, blocking Justin Moore. Not that it's the best song ever or anything, but I'm glad that "Cruise" was able to hold off "Til My Last Day" this week.

54 million audience impressions for Cruise versus 47 million for The One That Got Away. I believe we have our final #1 for 2012. Official. Last #1 of 2012!

3 weeks at the top = most weeks at No. 1 for any debut single in more than eight years.

3 weeks at the top = most weeks at No. 1 for any debut single in more than eight years. What about Jesus, Take the Wheel? That was a 6-week No. 1 almost seven years ago.

The BCU was confusing. It said this was the most week's at #1 for any act's first charted title in 8 years and that's technically correct, as Carrie charted from unsolicited airplay with "Bless The Broken Road" and "Inside Your Heaven" before her official debut single (JTTW) was released.
But, going from debut singles only, "Cruise" is the first 3-week #1 since JTTW spent 6 weeks at #1 almost 7 years ago, as indulgecountry pointed out.

The buzz on Twitter today is that certain top 40 radio stations have started playing a rap remix of "Cruise" featuring Nelly. No surprise since the last 15 sec of Nelly's "Hey Porsche" music video previews the "Cruise" rap remix, so a full song was bound to happen. www.wwgp1050.com/2013/03/04/florida-georgia-line-teaming-up-with-nelly-for-cruise-remix/I guess "Cruise" will return to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and stay there for 10+ weeks like Taylor Swift's WANEGBT?

So Florida Georgia Line f/ Nelly will top the mongrel chart, but Mumford & Sons won't be allowed to enter? That's fair.

Why am i not surprised? Lets just go ahead and tear down the genre wall and have it all sound the same as everything else

Well, but since Cruise was a country song first it would stand to reason that what someguy posted will come to pass, as we saw with Taylor and Hunter and their crossover play. It would be a remix of a country song, therefore its crossover play, sales, and streaming would all count on top of its country airplay. It's not out of the question that we see that likelihood as coming to pass.

Nelly needs the hit more than FGL do at this point.

You're giving them too much credit. They don't pronounce "your" there, not even with incorrect grammar. It's just "baby you a song".

One of the local country stations played the Nelly version on my drive home from work tonight. Even though I do not like "Cruise" at all, I had to listen just to hear it. My ears are now bleeding. The only good part is that I also heard "1994" coming from the radio in the other room while I was in the kitchen making dinner. Now that I am settled in the dining room for an evening of relaxation and listening to the radio, I can be pretty sure I will hear neither of those songs again this evening. *breathes sigh of relief*

According to AllAccess, the Nelly mix of this is going for country adds April 2nd. Hopefully that's just a typo...
