I don't think you could go wrong picking the Fray or Daughtry. I pick Daughtry because he has the hot hand right now, although I'm unsure about his longevity. I'm really unsure of Daughtry's longevity (see the "Hootie & the Blowfish" syndrome above) - I think his popularity is due to the novelty of his voice and production sound - his songs actually are pretty mediocre, if they were to be sung by someone else Some of their new material makes me confident that they'll be around for a long while. :)

Hope you're right :) I'm not exactly sure about The Fray b/c their 3 hits from this CD really did sound awfully similar - they really have to come up with a different sound, at least to stay popular on Top 40 - otherwise, they'll become locked into just Hot AC like the 2003 CD from Vertical Horizon

Fray is DEFINITELY the new Vertical Horizon.
Daughtry sounds like a lot of other artists but produces hits. I think he is a pretty big staple, and I think a lot of people got to know him through Idol which makes stations feel comfortable playing him as well as people wanting to request him. I can see Daughtry having the same success as 3 Doors Down has had...speaking of which, what happened to those guys? They weren't my favorite, but had a lot of hits.
Matchbox Twenty is at such a different level on the Hot AC chart, I don't think anyone will compare to them for a while. They are pretty much the No Doubt\Gwen Stefani on the Pop Chart, which is fine with me. I think Matchbox will have a big hit on AC\Hot AC\ and possibly Pop. They are pretty much Bon Jovi these days.

3 Doors Down's last 3 CD's were released in 2000, 2002, and 2005 - looks like they're definitely due for another one by 2008 (hopefully sooner)
Still not sure that Daughtry has the songwriting skills that (sorry don't know his name) the songwriter/lead singer for 3 Doors Down has

Funny you mentioned him, he and Chris wrote a song together (but it didn't make Daughtry's album) called "From Where You're Standing" (which I loved!). ;)
